Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I could write a book - but heres some key points. -does not make a doorbell noise unless you have another nest product -deletes footage the next day unless you have a subscription -i took it off to charge it ONCE and when i went to remount it the release button on the inside (similar to removing the back of a cell phone) got stuck. this was about 28 days after first setting it up. Google did not care and was not willing to help us with information about a manufacturers warranty or a replacement back, and just kept sending us the link to purchase a whole new product. If youre going to purchase this product, be prepared to purchase additional google nest products and please purchase a warranty through the store you purchase it from, because if it busts within a month Google reps will do anything to convince you to purchase a new unit as oppossed to honoring a manufacturers warranty.

The Google Nest Doorbell (battery) is designed to run on batteries without the need for frequent recharging, and it comes with a 1-year limited warranty. A chime is not included, but when a visitor presses your Nest Doorbell (battery), you can hear an audible alert if you have compatible smart speakers or displays, like Nest Audio or Nest Hub. If you choose the optional hard-wired installation, it will work with your existing doorbell chime.You can also choose to connect it to your doorbell system’s wires, which lets it stay powered.If your home doesn’t have a doorbell system, the easiest option is to install your doorbell wirelessly.
There's no fee to stream full resolution live video and receive basic notifications, as long as your doorbell is connected to the internet. If you want to go back and view recorded video, you can view events up to 3 hours in the past. However, you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription to record video, receive advanced notifications, to get extra features and to view videos saved in the cloud. Nest Aware is a paid subscription service you can use with your Nest products to help keep you informed about important events at your home. With a Nest Aware subscription, your Nest camera or doorbell stores video securely to the Nest cloud so you can access it anytime, anywhere. Please note that Nest Doorbell (battery), even when wired for continuous charging, does not offer 10 days of 24/7 video history with Nest Aware Plus, but your doorbell should still have event video history which will be deleted on a rolling basis after a certain number of days depending on which Nest Aware subscription that you have. Nest doorbell battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of their camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios:
Busy: About 1 month battery life (About 25 - 30 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 2.5 months battery life (About 13 - 16 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)
We recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Doorbell (Battery). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your device and understand what may be causing it. Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Google Nest doorbell could not be installed after I made multiple attempts, then made appointment with Geek Squad who similarly was unable to successfully install. The Geek squad representative was terrific, and we tried several attempts at Factory reset as well. Feedback was this has happened frequently to other customers as well. We also have next thermostats, and a nest indoor camera. The Google home app is also quite challenging to successfully use, and Google seems to have co- opted the original Nest app. Our thermostats seem to work, but they are glitchy, and the camera is a real challenge to install on other family members’ devices. Overall, the switch from Nest to Google has been a disaster (we’ve used from their early days, before Google take over). We are very disappointed in Google Home and these devices since the switch!

- Seamless integration of your Google Nest devices and services. For example, if you have a Nest camera and a Nest Hub, simply say, ""Hey Google, show me the backyard camera"" to stream your camera's feed to your display without any additional setup.
- One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
- Consistent alignment of your homes and home members across the Nest and Google Home apps.
