Our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. And we also want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.

We understand that you have returned it as having to use two different apps was a problem for you. Hi SandipK, thanks for letting us know about the issue with your Nest Doorbell (Battery). Streaming issues are mostly related to a possible congestion of your network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. Once you confirm the presence of congestion, we recommend contacting your Internet Service Provider to check your connection and upgrade it if needed.

We also recommend checking for possible sources of interference such as the thick walls and appliances in your home. Moving or adjusting your router where it can get better signal transmission to your Nest Doorbell (Battery) can be helpful with the issue. The battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature and selected camera settings. We recommend adjusting the video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events and using Activity Zones to monitor specific areas to extend the battery life of your Nest Doorbell. If you still have to charge the battery more often than you'd like, connect your doorbell to a power socket with the included or optional power adapter. Your doorbell always uses battery power. The power from the outlet gradually charges your doorbell's battery, so you won't have to manually charge it as often.

The battery life depends on factors including activity, temperature, and doorbell settings that you select. You can extend the battery life by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events to monitor specific areas. You can choose which events your doorbell can detect and record (people, motion, package, etc.). Besides using activity zones, you can change the settings like adjusting video quality, wake-up sensitivity, length of video clips, time between recorded events .

A chime is not included with every purchase of Nest doorbells. Thankfully, you can connect a Google speaker or display and set up visitor announcements to get notified when someone rings your doorbell when you’re home. You'll only get visitor announcements on your speakers and displays if they are set up in the same home as your doorbell in the Home app. Also, if you have Alexa, Google offers a Smart Home skill for integrating your Nest doorbell with Amazon's Alexa home control. Alexa can announce when someone presses the doorbell or when the doorbell detects motion or events.
