Battery life SUCKS!

It no longer charges easily. During the winter it only lasts 24hrs, we are charging it daily.....Im going wired! We also have the yard camera (battey), I don't have any issues with that one; which is posted up on the bay window of my house. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE BATTERY DOORBELL IF YOU LIVE WHERE THE WINTER TEMPS ARE UNDER 45 DEGREES!

At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the battery can still power your device, but it won’t charge. It may also drain more quickly than usual. At temperatures close to -4°F (-20°C), your battery may have less than half the life that it has in warm weather. The camera will continue to work, but the battery will drain because it can’t be charged. You need to bring it inside to a warm place, preferably at room temperature so the battery can start to charge slowly once its temperature rises past 32°F (0°C). It will charge faster when it warms up. For wired installation setups with a Nest Cam (battery), the wires power the camera directly. At temperatures below freezing, the battery won’t charge, but as long as the wired power source is available, the camera can operate in temperatures down to -4°F (-20°C).

Works great until you change your wifi

- Your camera’s personalized settings will revert to default settings.
- Your camera’s entire video history and snapshots will be deleted. Once your video history and snapshots are deleted, they cannot be recovered.
- If you want to save any video footage before you perform the factory reset, create video clips or timelapses and download the files to your phone or computer.
- Also, your camera will forget the Wi-Fi network name and password, and will be “Offline” in the app. You may need to set up your Nest Doorbell again.

Battery stops charging after 2 years...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my Nest Doorbell Camera in 2021. I loved it. Although, you do have to charge it eventually. I felt like the first 2 years it was hold charge great. I had no issues with battery until recently. It wont hold a charge. I went through Best Buy for supprt to see if they could teplace the battery and they basically told me I had it for too long. Since the Manufacture warranty is a year. There is nothing they can do. It's upsetting that it only lasted a fe wyears and now ill have to buy a new one. And Besy Buy or google wont replace it. If you are planning to buy a doorbell camera buy one where the company or manufacymurer guarantees their product. Even after warranty. Maybe im the only one that thi ks something this expensive should be replaced when there is an issue like this.

I like that I can use it at my rent house and have the option to have it wired as well. I also get three hours of event storage for free, meaning I can check back on recordings from earlier in the day if busy at the moment when they happen.

Really expensive for a basic doorbell
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m normally a big fan of Google products and I’ve been happy with most, even if they’re not perfect. This one was really disappointing though. The video quality is pretty poor consider the technology and bandwidth available. Nest Aware is next to useless because you have to manually identify every person, even if they’re already recognized in your photos/other Google services. The wedge helps a little bit isn’t enough to see most of my porch. It hasn’t recognized a single package yet which is one of the main reasons I bought it. The battery option is great and charging is quick and easy but there are plenty of better options out there. For a third gen product, it feels very first gen. The interface is also pretty awful. I’d suggest you look elsewhere. Essentially it just works like a normal doorbell because the features are so inconsistent.

Breaks within 6 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The little circle in the back that pops in and out to latch gets stuck withing around 6 months. First doorbell got it replaced since it was still under warranty but them the 2nd one did the same thing. Warranty only counts from the original purchase so since it been a little over a year since I bought the original one, Google told me I couldn't replace the 2nd one (which had lasted about 6 months too.) If you're not hard wiring it to your original doorbell and will be needing to remove it to charge it, I don't recommend.

We have the nest original doorbell camera until doorbell camera and it had been starting to give us problems. Mostly no connecting to network so blank spots in our video history. Nest blamed it on our network but it was the device as none of our other cameras had issues. We have had this new camera install about a week and are severely disappointed. #1. No 24/7 recording! Which is the reason we loved our original camera. #2 It's not compatible with nest app has to be used within the Google home app. #3. Less features than previous camera. No selectable doorbell tones. And notification feature does not work as well. #4 if you have a Nest subscription you will have to cancel it and get the new subscription which has gone up from $80 to $120 per year. So basically you are paying more money for less features. We are looking for a replacement as this is unacceptable.

The notification issues you are experiencing may also be related to the connectivity issue with Nest Doorbell (Battery). Here are some steps you might want to try to isolate the connectivity issue further:
- If your Wi-Fi router is dual band (supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands), we suggest connecting your Nest Doorbell (Battery) to the 2.4GHz band to get a more stable Wi-Fi signal.
- Check your Wi-Fi router's DHCP lease time for at least 2 hours. This can help ensure your Nest products stay connected to your network.
- If you have MAC address filtering enabled, the MAC addresses of your Nest camera must be added to the list of authorized devices.
- Try restarting the Nest Doorbell (Battery). Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the doorbell. Press and hold for 5 seconds. Your doorbell will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white.
To optimize battery life, Nest Doorbell (Battery) offers event video history and will detect and capture important activity at your door, so you can focus on the details that need your attention. If you are interested in 24/7 continuous video history, consider one of our wired Nest cameras or Nest Doorbell (wired).
We wanted to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, and Google Assistant. It offers you a lot more benefits since you have access to Google´s security features as well. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app.

Nest less than transparent

I wasn't aware the sensor would not pickup through my storm door window glass (or any window glass). I had to move it but in doing so I wanted a spare base plate so I could move it back and forth easily and low risk to damaging the rather flimsy base plate. Nest claims they cannot get me a base plate nor can I find one anywhere. When I went to support they had no idea what the problem was so I had to research and find out for myself about the sensor and the glass issue. They seem less than transparent, and I suspect I got the run around about them not having any base plates to help me out with. I suspected some level of dishonesty and certainly a notable level of incompetency or misdirection wasting my time. Note, I mounted it behind my lockable storm door to keep it secure. Now I have to mount it outside where it isn't secure and I have to cover holes in a door where it was originally mounted. Good enough product, terrible service. Again, OK product but expect nothing more from the company.

I can't explain how awesome it is to hear the doorbell thru my Google speakers while swimming with the kids.

Completely worthless

Tech support was literally “googling” our questions to look for an answer. Our doorbell is hard wired and has backup batteries installed and yet constantly has a “low battery” warning so it shuts itself off. This means it’s almost never recording. Even when I open the app to at least see a live feed, it can’t manage that. Always an error, “retry”. Tech support had us buy another power supply, we installed that, and oh guess what? Went through all of the settings, reinstalled a few times, reset, even did this with the app. Still doesn’t work. We’ve owned this for less than a month. I can’t believe I though the EZVIZ doorbell was a piece of crap. Very much regretting selling that fully-working one to buy this junk. We have two other nest cameras in/outside of the house and really hoped for something that would work just as well.
