This does not connect to nest app (like previous products), and forces the use of the google he app which is nowhere near as user friendly. This inability to add it to the nest app has a negative effect on your ability to add this device as a “skill” with Alexa. In order for your doorbell to ring I was told I had to purchase another google device to make the audible chime indoors. As someone with 8-10 Alexa devices already, I’m really bummed I don’t have the option to utilize my current devices.

The new Nest Doorbell (Battery) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

Horrible google home app

This shoudld be a straightforward app that will oppen my front door camera but it’s not. You would have to go to multiple set ups on steps just to access your front door camera unbelievable.

It'll happen right after warranty is up which is 1 year. Just please do your research! Have had all my other family members use other brands and have had them multiple years with no problems!

It also will bother you with false detections indicating someone is seen but nothing is there just before it dies from the cold. Overall video and night vision are not as good as Ring Doorbell Pro 2. Also Ring and Wyze products don't "die" from the cold. Frankly an outdoor security device that fails due to cold is useless

Google home says you have to set this up in the Nest app and the nest app says you have to set it up in Google home. Instructions are garbage. Otherwise, this item is massive. I don't know why anyone needs a doorbell this big. Really disappointed and returning this item.

It was easy to install and the video capture seems okay with lots of options to customize to your preferences. However the google app for iOS feels convoluted. No Apple TV support. Feels like a beta release. Hopefully there will be broader support and the app gets streamlined. Otherwise will probably get rid of.

Way to many short comings, Get NEST HELLO instead.

If they knew what using the competition was like they would not be so positive on this. The original NEST HELLO door bell is still available and I would suggesting getting that one WAY over this one. Here are the main reasons: * Does not work with far better NEST APP. Instead you have to use the far inferior GOOGLE HOME APP. * Does not record 24/7 (with subscription) like the NEST HELLO product * Clips the start of almost every recording causing the user to miss important information. Most competitor Doorbell cams have about a 3 second pre-record. * Google says the NEST App features will be coming to the GOOGLE HOME app sometime in 2022. Well, went in 2022? Do you want to wait what could be a year for these features? I know I don't.

Mine malfunctioned just after the warranty expired, displaying a persistent error claiming the camera was dismounted, despite being functional and connected. Beware Does Not Work in Minnesota Winters!

Hard to justify the cost when you have packages that are worth as much as this being dropped on your doorstep and you're not able to watch for them only to find out its offline when you go to check why nothing was delivered.
