Thanks for finding the time to share your experience with us. We´re really glad that you find the Nest Wifi a great product. We do apologize to hear that it didn't work with your Spectrum modem.
If your Spectrum modem is a modem/router combo, then the issue is related to a double NAT case that happens when both your modem/router combo and Nest Wifi Router are broadcasting the same SSID and password. Nest Wifi isn't compatible with 3rd party routers like your Spectrum combo to form a Wi-Fi mesh network. You can only combine Nest Wifi and Google Wifi to create a Wi-Fi mesh.
We recommend putting your Spectrum modem Bridge mode to avoid Double NAT issues. You may then set up Nest Wifi mesh with the primary Nest Wifi Router wired to your modem, then connect the other Nest Wifi Points to it.
