Was not what expected
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Maybe being a bit too harsh, and maybe it was user error, but I couldn't get a decent signal, over 20 ft

Just an OK Purchase

It is not an Amzing product!!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I dont see any reason to upgrade or update to this router from your older google router...unless you want to spend more money just to say your self i am up to date..and that is exactly what google want..There is no noticeable change in performance .. But noticeably change in price for sure for both router and access point.

Posted .Hi Badd, thanks for reaching out to our support channel. We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing Wi-Fi range issues with Nest Wifi.
Wi-Fi range issues may be affected by either of the following factors and we recommend trying out the recommended steps below:
- Check for possible congestion in your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue.
- You may also check for possible sources of interference such as the thick walls and appliances in your home. Moving your Nest Wifi Points within a line of sight of your Nest Wifi Router may improve signal coverage.
We'd be happy to provide further guidance and help with your concern. Please feel free to contact our support team here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Posted .Hi Ipad, thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear of your disappointment with Nest Wifi and of the poor experience with our support team. This is not the kind of experience we had hoped to provide you. However, we´re still hopeful that you will give us the opportunity to give you a worthwhile interaction in the future.
If you´re willing, we recommend checking if you might be using a modem/router combo. Once you verify it, then the issue is most likely caused by a double NAT scenario that happens when both your combo and Nest Wifi Router are broadcasting their own private networks with the same SSID and password. Nest Wifi only works with another Nest Wifi or Google Wifi to create a Wi-Fi mesh network. If you would like to try, you may still use your existing combo by setting it in Bridge Mode and disable its Wi-Fi functionality in order to set up Nest Wifi Router as your primary router, and create a mesh Wi-Fi system throughout your home. For more information on Bridge Mode, check out this help article on Google Wifi help page: https://support.google.com/wifi/answer/6240987
If you still experience the same speed loss, even after following the steps we provided, then we may need to take a closer look at the issue and figure out what may be causing it. This can help us get a better view on how we can improve your experience, if you can reach out again to us here: https://support.google.com/wifi/gethelp

Posted .Hi there Twism, thanks for sharing your feedback with us. If you're using a 3rd party router or a modem/router combo, you would need to disable its Wi-Fi functionality to prevent a possible Double NAT as it may cause connectivity issues with your connected devices. And, to create a Wi-Fi mesh network, you need to set up Nest Wifi Router as your main router directly wired to your modem with an Ethernet cable. You may then add a Nest Wifi Points or Google Wifi Points to your Nest Wifi Router.
If, in case, you will need any form of assistance, please feel free to contact us so we can do our best to resolve the issue for you here: https://support.google.com/wifi/contactflow

Posted .Hi Bigloulew, thanks for sharing your experience. We regret to hear that you purchased more than what you need.
Nest Wifi is also available in single (router only) and 2-pack (router and one Wi-Fi point). We recommend contacting BestBuy for your options, if your purchase is still under your retailer’s return/exchange policy.

Returned after one month
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Owned this for about a month and ended up returning it. The app was not always responsive, connection was dropped more than it should have for a new router, and my speed was slowed! It's also a lot bigger than I expected as well. I own an Eero now, which is half the size and much more stable.

Got worse performance
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally had 2 Google Wifi pucks (predecessor to this model) and they worked great, but I wanted something with a little more horse power. Unfortunately performance has been worse after upgrading to this. I've spent hours troubleshooting and have a background in IT. With the only variable being upgrading to this router I have to conclude it's either a firmware or hardware issue. It seems many others are having similar problems if you check out the Nest support forums. My current speeds were 80/80 now I'm getting 80/30 and my coworkers have commented on how my internet connection seems poorer during video calls. Hopefully they'll be a fix soon but I'm afraid I'm going to have to return it for now if I don't hear about a solution from Google.

Google disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately I have to give this a not great review. We have had to replace this twice since purchasing less than six months ago for slow Speeds and intermittent disconnects. Love my other google products but this I wouldn’t recommend.

Google doesn't care about you
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beware poor product. I had this for just over a year when my 500 Mbps speeds fell off by 90%. Thoroughly tested all avenues and pinpointed the router as the issue. Google ran me through 2 hours of their own diagnostics afterwards. They conceded the router was the issue and the hardware was bad. Because I was a month out of the 12 month warranty, they refused to exchange. Best Buy is trying to fix, but I wouldn't waste my time on this equipment again. Way better mesh systems out there for less.

Worst router I've ever owned
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy one of these, has one one gigabit pass-through but you'll never see it. Hard wire connection with multiple different new cat6 cables seeing less than 500 mbs. Wireless same device 6" away from nest router 200 megabits per second and anything more than 15 feet away about 50. If I hook my old Netgear nighthawk backup I get about 760 and it's not even gigabit capable and 3 years old to boot. This Google nest is the worst router I've ever owned oh and there are no settings either

Dropped connection
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought two of these for two different houses. One died after about 6 months, it would connect but constantly drop wifi and Ethernet after about 10 minutes. To test I swap the devices between homes and sure enough one router was defective. Google warranty service was disastrous no help so lost money. Be aware of issues with these. Other than that they do what they are supposed to and work perfectly when non faulty.

Constant dropped connections
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit is terrible. At least once a day while I'm trying to stream a video or collaborate via Zoom, this thing will just restart, causing every device in my house to loose internet connection. I'm returning this to get something more reliable. Do not waste your money, time, and effort on one of these. (FYI Google support was of zero help as well.)

Good while the mesh lasted
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased and used it for about 2 months to add to my existing Nest Wifi and it worked perfect. Unfortunately, the mesh became weak during the last couple of months and there is no fixing it. Tried moving points closer to the router, farther, etc... and nothing seems to help. Unfortunately, I will have to buy a new mesh wifi set and it will not be this brand. Stay away unless you like unreliable connections during your gaming, day trades, etc.
