Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just upgraded from an Eero 6 dual band. I noticed right away how much better my devices responded. I need an mesh network to help with all my security cameras and smart home devices. Prior there were some slow loading times , but once this was installed it was I wasn't experiencing the lag that I had with my prior network. The only down side is having to add every device back, but that's to be expected when installing a new system .

Set-up was really easy, just make sure you keep the same network name and password to ensure seamless transfer from your old mesh kit to all your devices. Performance is poor compared to our previous kit. The range (although marketed as superior) is far worse than previous version. We placed each unit in the exact same spot as previous locations and Google Home reads the signal as weak. I have witnessed dropped connections consistently. In fact, during work calls my Google Meet freezes constantly. something never experienced before. And lastly, the speed test says it all. We definitely did not experience an increase in speeds, rather a decrease. I am hoping this fixes itself as sadly, this is anything but an upgrade.

It is important to check the placements of your Wi-Fi router and point, which are vital to have reliable Wi-Fi throughout your home. As a general rule, points work best when they’re no more than two rooms away from each other. For example, if the far end of your house has weak Wi-Fi, don’t put a Wifi point in that exact spot. Instead, put it part way in that direction. Try to place it in an elevated position like on a shelf.
It may also be helpful to try the following steps to see if the Wi-Fi performance will improve:
- Move the connected device closer to your Wifi router or point.
- Repositioning the points to avoid obstructions like walls, doors, and aquariums can improve performance.
- Make sure all unused devices are off and not draining bandwidth with large downloads.
- Check for possible sources of interference such as microwave ovens, refrigerators or other equipment.
- Run a mesh test to confirm placement of your Wifi points.

I have to reset the entire system on average once every month. The 2nd point in the system constantly goes offline reducing how much coverage this offers drastically. The only fix was to put it less than 10 feet away in the next room over. My father in law has the orbi system and it covers his entire home that is 2x the size of ours and goes about 75 feet+ out his yard. I cant reccomend this anymore simply because its not a set it a forget it thing like wifi is supposed to be.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this in store and mostly love everything Google (so much so, I own significant amounts of alphabet class a stock). This product was such a disappointment. I read the one star reviews, and thought surely this wasn't that bad. Well, it is. I'll break it down. As many others stated, it's very attractively designed. The packaging even feels "pro." That's about where it ends though. The setup is fairly easy but also mildly frustrating somehow, because it didn't connect out the box. Once connected it only stayed connected for about 20 mins before dropping and having to reconnect. The speeds are slow. SLOW. Especially compared to my still connected other non wifi 6e router. I figured it may be my device, and used my laptop along with top tier gaming computer (6e card) and the best I got was 120ish Mbps. Switching to my non 6e router got back into the 350 Mbps range on all devices. Also didn't realize the port was throttled to 1 gig, as I have 2 gig fiber it severely hampered the connection. Lastly, my largest complaint is the lack of software customization. If you enjoy tinkering to get the best internet connection and want to use certain features (especially changing MHz & selecting bands), look elsewhere because they are not here. If this were 2012, this would be an amazing product. Otherwise save your money or spend it on a different item.

We're sorry to hear about your disappointing experience with the difficult setup, connectivity drops, slow speeds and lack of options for customization. Nest Wifi Pro has a combined speed capability of up to 5.4 Gbps. Keep in mind that the combined speeds are total speeds across all bands, and are derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications based on use of Wi-Fi 6 or later generation connected devices that support 160 MHz channels. Actual speeds will depend on your internet service provider, network conditions, connected devices, local regulations and environmental factors. Also, we considered providing a more simplified interface, including automating some of the features that can prove to be helpful for novice users who still want to experience the latest product features that we are offering.

I would suggest Best Buy installation as it is a little “persnickety” to get the base installed properly. It replaced an ORBI system that was at its limits to provide coverage. Pleased thus far

Randomly a point will go offline and you'll have terrible speeds and coverage in the area. Tech help from Google is terrible as well. Look up Google WiFi forums and it's a common issue.
