Can't go wrong
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is on a Google Pixel 10 Pro 128GB (Unlocked) - Obsidian. I am upgrading from a Pixel 6 Pro. First look at the phone, I could see there are changes. It has a silky matte glass back with a polished metal frame. I also noticed the redesign to look more like another brand. The sides are flat instead of rounded. I turned it over and took one look at the camera lens and could tell this looks like a serious camera. It is Wi-fi 7. The memory and storage is the same and it took me years to fill up my previous Pixel so it is enough. The screen auto adjusts between 1 - 120Hz variable refresh rate which is top of the line. Google really makes swapping phones so easy. This phone doesn't use a SIM card but uses an eSIM. This is one less step to have to take when setting up your phone. You will not have to remove the SIM card from your old phone and put it in your new phone. To start off when turning on the phone it gives you a QR code to scan. So you use your old phone to scan the code and it will ask you to continue setup. It grabs all the info it needs from your old phone to sign into your Wi-fi without entering anything. Then it adds your account without having to sign-in. Next, it knows your phone number already and begins to activate the eSIM. It transfers all the info from your SIM to the new eSIM while you continue to setup the rest and will tell you when it is activated. It then gives you the option to copy all the pictures, messages, settings and apps by two methods. Express or customize. Express will only copy recent photos. Customize will copy everything but my old phone was full so it said it didn't have room to copy everything to my new phone so I had to use express. There are a lot of questions and screens to go though to continue setting it up while it copies but both didn't take too long. I found that some of my apps would already sign straight into my account without entering anything. It is spot on, like just swapping phones and it is ready to go just like on your old phone. Photos look great and you can make changes to them just by asking. I took a picture of my bed and told it to remove the comforter. It is kind of scary what it can do. The comforter was gone and the sheets were an exact match in color even with wrinkles in them. It looked so real. This camera has an awesome 20x zoom and it still looks good. Performance is about what my old phone is like. Sound is better than my old phone. There are many new features that AI offers that I still haven't tried yet but look forward to using them. This is a great phone that I look forward to having for a few years.

AI powerhouse but ok storage and battery life
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Right off the bat the Pixel 10 Pro looks identical to last year’s design. This isn’t a bad thing but there isn’t anything that immediately sets the two apart physically. The display is the same size at 6.3 inches bit the display did receive a brightness boost to 3,300 nits. The Pixel 10 Pro is noticeably thicker by about 1 cm which could be due to the improved camera, wireless charging components (which are absent in the previous version), and slightly larger battery. Finally, the Pixel joins the likes of Apple, where the Pixel 10 introduces Pixelsnap, a magnetic system based on the Qi2 wireless charging standard, enabling seamless alignment with chargers, wallets, and mounts. Identical to MagSafe. The Pixel 10 Pro sports a triple-lens camera setup for the rear facing cameras: a 50 MP wide, a 48 MP ultrawide, and a 48 MP telephoto (5× optical zoom) lens. A front facing 42 MP dual phase detection auto focus selfie camera completes the package. What sets the Pixel apart the AI-driven camera features from the purported 100X zoom, and the AI photo editing which was extremely useful. It’s easier to tell Gemini what you want edited vs doing it yourself. I am sure more professional users want to edit everything, I don’t. I want camera to give me real time framing and lighting guidance, take multiple group shots and merge the frames to give the best photo possible, and finish it off with me editing via voice. In all low light situations the Pixel 10 outperformed my wife’s iPhone 15 Pro and I was able to edit the photos quickly. I also was able to take photos from farther away while at the beach without any substantial distortion from the Pixel 10 Pro. It wasn’t even close. The Pixel 10 Pro is powered by the Tensor G5 chip with features such as Magic Cue which proactively suggests relevant smart actions from Gmail, Messages, Calendar, and more. Voice Translate lets you conduct real-time translated phone calls in your own voice just make sure you’re phone’s software is up to date and you downloaded the appropriate language packs. The battery life is nothing to boast about but the battery will get you through the day. When you do need to charge you’ll be subjected to 30W wired charge speeds and slower speeds via Qi2. The charging speed isn’t a deal breaker for me but under heavy usage I needed to recharge. The Google Pixel 10 Pro is a refined flagship which excels in AI usability and photography. Some other android based flagship devices have better hardware, but the Pixel 10 Pro looks sleek, is compatible with magnetic accessories thanks to the Pixelsnap function, and the build quality is definitely premium. Just remember those high quality photos take a lot of space and the 128GB base model’s storage will get eaten up fast.
