Seemed like a good phone. However, when making calls it had a lot of static. Both mine and my wife's phone had the same problem.

Don't buy Pixel. The phone worked fine for 15 months then the battery percentage became stuck with no way to fix. The phones shortly after will fail. Found out this is a problem baked in to ALL Pixels. The Pixel 5 has this exact issue as did the 4. Again...there is no fix nor is Google trying to solve this issue obviously.

Worse than the Pixel 3 XL. I recommend the OnePlus series over the pixels.

I won't buy another Google phone

Problems: 1. Here is my my main warning: if you receive a faulty phone, Google will send you a refurbished replacement unless you discover the fault and return it within 15 days. The fault with mine: when unlocking the phone it would flash like a camera in your face. This only began happening after a month, unfortunately. I spent a month demanding that I should be provided with the new device that I spent a lot of money on. Their refurbished models can obviously be purchased cheaper and would have a warranty of 90 days rather than 1 yr. I would never purchase a used phone but that is now what I own. 2. The battery life is normal, if you don't use the phone. Otherwise it will drain quickly. It does charge quickly but still not ideal to worry about battery all the time. 3. Moving from an iPhone, selecting and copying words, paragraphs is not easy. This is something I use frequently to speed up searches etc. It is also unresponsive when tapping a button in the corner of the screen. Requires zooming before tapping. Frustrating. 4. Headphone dongle required and supplied. Just another thing to remember/forget. The head phones supplied are a terrible design. Will not be replacing my ear buds. 5. Connection when using data will not reconnect after dropping. Requires turning airplane on and off to reconnect. Living in an area with spotty coverage, this is annoying. 6. Photos appear blurry on the rapid fire mode, rendering it useless. V disappointed with this flaw. Otherwise photos are high quality. 7. Volume button needs to be pressed a few times to adjust volume. Annoying. 8. Lift to wake screen wake is not as responsive as iPhone. Often doesn't activate. 9. Speakers vibrate the phone when mid-high volume. Not too bothersome but you can feel it. Good points: 1. Fast responses. Almost too fast. Refreshing but a little glitchy. 2. Screen size and picture quality great. 3. Unlimited photo storage through Google. In summary, I will not buy another Google phone. I don't know of another manufacturer that would think it ok to provide a refurbished device as a replacement for a faulty one purchased new. This is the most I've spent on a phone. I hoped that it would be a great experience with Google, and the cost would be worth it. It was not.

excellent job on the software side

I have used this phone for a year and plan to use it for another year. Google has done an excellent job on the software side. They release Android and security updates regularly and quickly. Their Pixel feature drops are amazing. Vanilla/stock Android stability is great. The device's software performance has not noticeably degraded within the last year. The same generally cannot be said for other flagship Android phone manufacturers. Of course, the Snapdragon 845 processor performs well. 4 GB of memory is sufficient for a casual user like me, but consider a device with more memory if you're a power user. Camera quality is consistently very good, if not always perfect. Google has demonstrated that software processing can greatly improve the quality of images from a single, standard camera. The build and construction of the device is beautiful, but the glass back can wear or scratch easily from normal use, so consider putting a case or wrap on this device. I'm currently using a Dbrand wrap with transparent grip strips on the sides.

problem hearing ringtone & text notification sound

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

anyone else have this issue, it apparently has been around since the Pixel 3 was first issued. The ringtone and text notification sound come out from only the bottom speaker and it is muted and not full like when you hear it and set it in the settings. Having trouble and missing calls and texts in noisy areas. Anyone have a fix for this? One thing I did is that since pixel 3 doesn't have any call text reminder app, I added one so if I miss the call/text I get another notification sound at any set interval you wish, like every minute after the initial call/text.

Had iPhones, Galaxy's, this is way better!

I could rave about this all day but instead I'll sum up with my top 3. This is coming from someone who travels a lot, on the phone all day, and has had "top end" phones for the last 8 years. 1 - for whatever reason, with the same service, I immediately noticed significantly better reception, more bars, no call dropping in the usual dead zones, and internet in places I could hardly send a picture from... No idea how, but After about 2 Weeks, it's consistently excellent. 2 - Google call screening is AWESOME! Seriously, find a friend with one and check it out. Or heck... Google it. 3 - everything is smoother. I mean texts, calling, everything! I think this is because it's not an operating system from one company, hardware from another, and third party apps to interface at every corner. It's just Google. And it was literally all built to work together and then (on other phones) patched together with endless updates and "enhancements" to the third party patchwork apps. At the end of the day, I'm really glad I gave the $399 underdog a shot and have no plans to ever go back.

Overall a great phone. Camera is fantastic great color rendering. Handles multiple applications running at the same time well, more than enough RAM. Very easy to use and can be customized any way you want. This phone also gets all the Android updates first which is a huge plus.

    LED!!!

So I love this phone, partly because of the fact that support runs for 3 years (software and security updates) unlike other Android phones. Being built by google, I feel this is designed to run in the most efficient manner as being the creators (Managers?) of Android; this is a true Android device as opposed to Android "based" devices by other manufactures. Bezels could have been MUCH small for the premium price, lack of LED indicator is really silly, manufacturers have lost the plot there; always on display isn't the same thing guys! Fingerprint sensor on the side would have been smarter I feel, but seems like everyone is gearing to onscreen sensors. Built quality is really nice, could have been a more tougher look if you ask me though.

Very bad phone do not recommend

My dad bought me a new phone for my grades and I had the choice between the pixel 3 or I phone xr and everyone was telling me that the google pixel is the best phone every and I believed it. At the time it was on sale for $399 in June 2019 and he made his purchase. The first week the phone was ok but still wished for the xr. The second week everything went down hill it, started over heating and glitching. Then months pass by this phone electrocuted me when on facetime with my friends, the started buzzing making by video in facetime wavey. After that it started overheating and glitching for a long time. Know to this day this phone overrided, turned off and on, glitched, overheated, short battery life, bad hearing from other line, do not recommend and I wish I got the I phone xr.

I like this phone a lot, just did the android 10 upgrade and have had no issues so far. I bought this right before Google-fi did a huge sale on the phone and customer service Hooked me up with that same discount even thought I bought it at a different time. Great customer service from google, great technology from google. Use my referral code and $20 off your fi bill( I will too!) https://g.co/fi/r/CKNP3V

    finicky and fragile

This device looks nice and runs ok, but it's not designed to be used. If you buy it, make sure it's in a seriously padded case. The front and back of the device both shattered with a 2' drop onto a wood floor when it fell out of my pocket (2 months after purchase). Android P feels like it's in alpha release. Bluetooth doesn't reliably reconnect and changes the volume whenever you connect to a new device (be careful with headphones). Email apps crash regularly when shipping information is attached to emails, etc. Also, google support people are not empowered to actually support their products. Buy something better/cheaper.

Bad phone, nothing but bugs from day 1

I've had many Android phones over the years and they always seem to have the same problems in regards to bugs and software not working the way it should. I got the pixel as a last ditch effort thinking Google was competent enough to design a phone that works properly. I was wrong. Same old infuriating bugs and problems you'd get with any other Android. After 10 years, I've had enough and am making the switch to iPhone. I recommend you do the same.

Pixel interferes with Zoom and teleconferencing

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Do not buy this or any other Pixel phone under any circumstances. They are hardwired to link to your PC's WiFi network and interfere with any application that employs the microphone -- especially Zoom and other teleconferencing apps. (The mic on the Pixel interferes with the mic on your PC, creating reverb/echo.) Moreover, you can't make a phone call using your Pixel anywhere within the 30-foot WiFi radius for the same reason.

I was sold this piece of garbage that I already had to return once because I could not get connections and texts kept getting dropp-ed. Verizon store sold it to me. They were no help in assisting me to rectify the situation in a timely manner. And now the second one still gets crappy service. This is the first and last google phone I will ever get! It also costs way too much!
