Great phone/camera with some nitpicking by me

I finally got this phone because it was on sale. I didn't feel it was worth the full price it came out with since it didn't have certain components I wish it has (like ultrawide lens and good battery. If it did it would have been worth it). I wanted a good camera phone because I am kind of a minimalist and don't want to carry too many gadgets when I travel. I upgraded from an old iPhone SE (the only iPhone I've used so far) so I didn't have too high of an expectation since my phone was old and low tech haha. I only have minor things to nitpick. There are things I missed about iPhone even coming from an old model which was the simplicity and smooth app running, and the much stronger vibration. Android seems to come a long way. I like that google pixel is not filled with apps I don't use. I think the vibration could have been stronger because i usually have my phone on silent. Now even with the strongest setting I can barely feel the phone buzzing next to me and I missed many calls and texts. Camera is great. I prefer it over my coworker's fancy iPhone but wish it has ultrawide lens. Battery-wise I'm not sure what to expect. My typical use lasts me about 14 hr or so. I wish they have an option for in screen finger unlock especially now we have to wear masks it's just awkward and many apps don't support faceunlock yet so now I gotta type my passwords in haha. I wish it can show who texts or call me on lock screen (not showing the message but at least the names) without my having to unlock it first (like how the iPhone has it). Maybe I'll get used to it but for an Android that supposed to be pretty customizable I feel google took out many of those ability? I haven't used other Android phones for 3-4 years so I'm not sure it others are like this now. Also what the heck with the charger not having USB port? They are trying to be Apple and make you buy only their stuff? I wish they wouldn't do this because the beauty of Android system is you can use with other Android accessories. I'm happy with the phone but just didn't like where the company is going with this :/

I upgraded my Pixel3 to this phone and its been a pretty seamless transition. The biggest noticeable change was the fingerprint scanner removal and update with facial recognition. I don't hate it, but it takes some getting used to. The other big change was the removal of the back button, swiping edge to edge to go back also is a weird adjustment and in my opinion not really an upgrade at all. Pros: - Camera quality - Facial recognition Cons: - Removal of the back button - Removal of fingerprint scanner

Great phone with an awesome camera, new Google Assistant, smooth display, motion sense, an ok battery, and more... The reason I didn't give it that fifth star is because the battery is decent but not the best.

The GOOD: camera is amazing. Super fun, super sharp pics, zoom is wonderful. Processor is fast and searches and scrolling are wonderful. Graphics look beautiful and the face unlock works most of the time. THE BAD: Battery does drain fast and rarely makes it thru a day of moderate use unless screen brightness is all the way down and even then barely makes it. I desperately miss the LED light for notifications. So have to leave the always on display on. I didn't think the lack of headphone jack would matter since I never use headphones, however that means no aux, which means no more music in the car since my car has no bluetooth. Bummer. The back button is to swipe left. Highly annoying in apps that swiping left does something or when trying to swipe left to go thru pictures but instead you go back. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually but not a fan at all. I can't find a way to 'close all' for apps in background. Maybe there is but haven't found it yet. Folders are not as customizable as it was with Samsung. The face unlock is cool, but many apps don't accept it yet and there is no fingerprint reader,so back to putting in my password every time for many apps. Overall I miss my Samsung and am not sure I would get another Google phone.

I bought the Pixel 4 primarily for the Google Recorder app, which converts audio into searchable and editable text as you record them. This is such a life-saver since I have to conduct interviews for my research work and doing transcription manually is always tedious and timeconsuming. For now, the Google Recorder remains a pixel exclusive; it serves a niche market of professionals like me. But the phone is great in many other ways. The camera is excellent, especially for lowlight photography; images come out sharp and detailed. It's a classical "pixel" take on photography which the phone always delivers. The screen has a 90hz refresh rate and the viewing experience is naturally a lot better than the traditional 60hz refresh rate. The screen's colour reproduction isn't on par with that of the iPhone 11 Pro and can't get as bright as the latter either; still, it's sufficient for normal usage. The phone is fast; and since it will get timely updates from Google, it should stay that way for a few years. Battery life is less than ideal, but it can last you a day if you are not a heavy user. My only gripe with this purchase - hence the four stars - was that Bestbuy sent me the package already opened. Though the phone didn't seem to have been used before, the product looked more like an "open-box" unit than the brand new one I had ordered. Since the phone was purchased with a discount, I didn't bother to return it for an exchange.

Got this on black Friday sale, pretty great discount over normal price. Does what you want easy, no bloatware, awesome camera, assistant works as well as you can ask for. Cons - c'mon with the storage Google. Make your standard competitive or add SD slot. Battery size - smaller battery comparatively. Got a 5head - big upper bezel to house all the sensors.

The pixel 4 is a fantastic product compared to any other brand of cell phone. I own a note 10, pixel 3a and work for a company who sells technology. Obviously price is always a factor in any purchase. The holiday sale price makes this unlocked model the best value among flagship phones in my opinion. Great camera, smooth operation, fast and fluid with 90 hz refresh rate, fast charging, excellent screen, fast software updates, lighting fast face unlock. The battery specs are overhyped as this phone has done an above average job for me as far as battery life. It's better than my note 10 and charges very quickly. Ability to screen calls, excellent Google assistant, awesome camera are a few of my favorite features. Dark mode is great and no bloatware combined with many ways to customize this device make it the best product I have used to date for daily use. Highly recommended.

Let me just start this review by saying that I am absolutely in love with this phone. It is so easy to use, and it did not take me long to figure out how it worked. I am blown away by the picture quality that this phone's camera is able to produce. For such a small phone, it can produce an enormous sound and has clear, high-quality sound. I like the minimalist design and how it hides the two back camera lenses with the square design. Although the price might deter some people from buying this phone, I feel that it is worth the investment.

I wasn't sure how I was going to like the face unlock but it's actually pretty awesome. I love the pixel line I had the o.g. then the 2xl and now the 4. They are just amazing phones with crazy good cameras. It's the perfect size and it just fits perfectly in my hand. The battery life is not as bad as most reviews say it is, but it isn't great by any means. That being said it easily gets me through the day without the need to charge it before going to bed. It's a great phone.

I upgraded from a Nokia 6.1 that got dropped too many times and decided it was time to get a 'flagship' smartphone so I got a Pixel 4. I've had bad hardware experiences with the Nexus 5 (bad power button) and Nexus 6p (bad volume button, sudden battery drain and dead phone due to microprocessor core defect), and still decided to give google a change with a Pixel 4. Out of the box, there is no USB-C to headphone adapter and the USB-C cable for the power adapter is about 5 inches shorter than the one that came with my Nexus 6p, and this is an issue, because it is awkward to try to use the pixel 4 while it is charging, those 5-inches make a difference.... and this leads me to the next issue: battery life is, well to say it nicely, it is shameful, really, 2800mAh battery cannot power this phone properly, so always having to keep an eye on remaining power and to keep the charger around is just not acceptable for a phone at this price. And I am not a power user, just watching a few youtube videos (not even in HD, just at 480p) and I can see the battery gauge dropping down, then casual use with Whatsapp, Telegram and a few other apps and battery is below 30% by 5PM, simply not acceptable. The gestures didn't work properly out of the box, it kept jumping back or advancing video/song or navigation just by me moving around near the phone, so it deactivated it the very first day of use, I saw that Google released a software update this week apparently to improve this, but, I can't believe a multi billion dollar company cannot figure out how to do this right from the get go, so I won't even bother to test it at this point. I also miss the back and home buttons at the bottom so I reactivated them, I found the new Android 10 navigation method of sliding your finger half-way from edges or button to navigate quite annoying. The camera is amazing, great photos and the interface is clean and intuitive, but for the high price and the ONLY advantage over cheaper mid-range phones is the nice camera, it is kind of sad. THE main advantage and the reason I had Nexus and tried this Pixel is pure Android, once you try pure Android you cannot go back, but for this price and these many shortcomings it is not worth it. So if you are a power user that can use a snappy phone, with an amazing camera AND like to carry around a battery bank or are always near a power outlet, then this phone may be for you if you can afford it.. For my part, I am returning it and looking at the Nokia 7.1 that has AndroidOne, which is basically pure Android with 2 years of guaranteed software updates and 3 years of security updates AND it's a real upgrade from my Nokia 6.1 I had before.

I have used the Pixel 4 for approximately one week and, overall, am happy that I upgraded from the Pixel 3a. I enjoyed the 3a, but the Pixel 4 is much quicker, which is a given due to the faster processor. Regardless, the face unlock works fast, and the entire user experience (Android OS) is quite fluid. With respect to battery complaints and limited storage, I've not had any issues and do not anticipate running out of storage (64GB model) or worrying about the battery. Word of caution though, this is dependent upon your specific usage. If you are a heavy mobile phone user (e.g. social media, constant browsing, videos, music, etc.), then you may be better off getting a XL or a different phone - unless you don't care to charge more frequently. For my specific use, the battery has so far exceeded my expectations, especially in comparison to what I have read about it. The gesture based navigation is something that grew on me from using the Pixel 3a and I love it on the Pixel 4. The Motion Sense functions are neat, and "reach to check phone," has replaced "tap to wake" for me. That all said, would I have paid full price for this phone? No. However, I do think at $499 for the 64GB model (current discount), it is an excellent deal. I would highly recommend it with the warning that battery life will vary depending on your specific use pattern, but otherwise, it is an excellent phone and user experience.

So, I'm giving this phone 5 stars, because Google continues to make a good, solid phone. That being said, coming from a Pixel 2, I don't notice a huge difference in upgrade. That leaves me wondering what Pixel 3 owners are thinking of the 4. Still, a great interface, awesome camera and very responsive. One thing I'm actually a little disappointed about is the battery use in the background. Toward the end of using my Pixel 2, I started noticing that there was a significant change in battery drain overnight. I am noticing the same thing with the Pixel 4. Before going to bed, I turn OFF mobile data and WiFi, close out all apps and then put it on the charger with a 3 hour outlet timer. In the morning, the battery percentage is around 85%. I checked what may be using the battery overnight, but do no see any usage. Very strange. Now at night, I put the phone in airplane mode before putting it on the charger. In the morning, the phone battery is now at 92%. Better, but still wondering what could be using the battery. When I first had my Pixel 2, with the same routine, I remember waking up to my phone battery at around 97%. Obviously, this is not a hardware issue, but Google still needs to look at this battery usage issue. Overall, I think if you have a Pixel 2 or 3, there's no need to upgrade. If you're looking to upgrade from another manufacturer, then the Pixel 4 is a great choice.

I knew about the battery life from reviews but didn't realize how bad it was until I bought it. My cheap Coolpad has a longer battery life. Besides that, I love the phone. It's fast and the main reason I bought the phone is the camera. Good quality photos and videos. It's my first pixel so the tips on how to use the different features is very useful. The size of the phone fits perfectly in my hand. I'm used to large display phones so this smaller size is outside of my comfort zone. Probably would've gotten the XL. Still happy and adjusted to the smaller size. I bought this phone during a sale that took off $300. I wouldn't have bought it at full price.

I loved my Pixel 2, but after almost 5 years, it was time to upgrade. I liked the features of the Pixel 4 over the Pixel 3 or 3a. Unfortunately, it’s a bit of a battery hog. When I use it for navigation (Ride with GPS, or one of the Navigation features) it will eat the battery in less than 2 hours unless it’s plugged in - I always take my backup battery pack. The high points for me are the facial recognition unlock feature, the speed of the processor and, of course, the camera. I’m less enthralled with the browser functions - there is no back button/arrow to go to a previous page. I just wish there was an option for a bigger battery.

I'm psyched to finally have a Pixel , I rely on googles apps and prefer them over stock apps generally, but this really tops it for Google's integrated functionality. The phone does get hot sometimes when in heavy use or being used while charging though, and it lacks a proper physical headphone jack. That being said, it works really well for gaming over wireless, and the Bluetooth works great with true wireless earbuds, and for my garmin watch as well. The camera takes great pictures and video and holds alot of promise in future updates;the whole update feature roll out should be a good time. So I'm pretty happy with it overall.

Great phone , fast as "*&_ incredible camera upgraded from a pixel 2 xl and to be honest I would probably been better served and 200 richer buying a reconditioned 3 , the gesture stuff is a gimmick, the camera is outrageously good and sinus the 90 hz screen and the UI IS perfection ... At 499 it's just good and the big downsides are battery life is way too low. Combine that with it only working with USB-c that conform to the PD standard which ended up being a surprise 25 dollars for car charger a new long USB c PD cable. It's the least of all the pixels I like it I'm glad I have it but I wouldn't bother

My first Pixel. Screen is awesome, camera is awesome, the size is perfect...(I don't want to carry around a tablet in my pocket). In my opinion everything about this phone is on par with Samsung or Apple...EXCEPT battery life!...I watch a few YouTube videos...read the news text and call and it has to be charged by 5 or sometimes earlier!...my phone before this was a Motorola Z3 Play that still had 20% battery left at bed time!..oh...I bought it when Best Buy had it for $350 off, which made it worth it. I would not have bought it at full price nor would I recommend it at full price!

The Pixel 4 is an excellent phone from Google that offers great software features and an excellent camera that takes some awesome pictures. I definitely prefer Android's software features over iOS. My only real negative about this phone is the battery life. It's ok, but I would've preferred it to be able to last a full 24 hours with moderate usage. Considering the asking price of this phone compared to other similarly priced devices, I don't consider that an unreasonable request. But still considering all that, I still prefer to have the Pixel 4 for me over other devices.

I was always a fan of the two tone from previous pixels and now I'm a big fan of the two tone contrast of the clearly white and the oh so orange. The materials are great and so it's the feel of them. Don't mind chin or the forehead, I'm not a fan of the infinity displays everyone likes. I do miss the double speakers. I don't have a problem with the RAM or storage space but for the price it should be more or the phone cheaper. Great camera hardware but wished the software was a little more fun. I've had Pixels 1 thru 4, can't wait for the next one.

I love the Pixel enough that since it came out, that's the only phone I've purchased for my daughter and myself. The picture quality is amazing and this new version enhances that yet again. My biggest complaint - and it's enough to drop the review one full star - is the removal of the "back" button. Now you have to swipe left from the right side of the phone to go back. But this often results in going back when I simply want to swipe left. It's incredibly annoying. However, the overall performance of the Pixel is still fantastic.
