Better than Samsung Galaxy S7 for Sure

Coming off a 4 year old Samsung Galaxy S7, this phone blows it away. I rarely go below 50% battery by end of day on this Pixel after watching over an hour of YouTube. Camera is also way better, and having the more current vanilla Android is really making it a snappy responsive phone. Also headphone jack and much better speakers. Roughly the same size. Dunno what else I could want.

This has been a really good product so far, I've had it for a little less than a month now. It's definitely a good phone for the price. A lot of the reviews I read complained about the sound, but I think the sound quality is perfectly fine; however, it does get a little...screechy(?) if you turn it up to 100%. But it's loud enough that you shouldn't need to turn it up that high to hear regular music or phone calls. The camera is really good quality and there are some really cool features, like background blurring and a 360 mode for pictures. Updates are a regular thing, which is really useful because that means it'll last longer than older phones that no longer get updates that you could buy for the same price. I saw people complaining about the speed of the phone, but the speed hasn't been a problem for me. I can open up multiple tabs and do multiple things at the same time. Another cool feature is that you can keep watching youtube as you do other things, like reply to a text message. The tiny youtube box will appear in the corner and you can move it around to do whatever you need to do and then go back to full screen any time. I'm having problems with my SIM card though that I'm trying to get fixed now, not sure if it's happening because of the phone or because my SIM card is just messed up. Overall, this is definitely worth the buy.

I think the value of the Pixel 4a mostly comes from how your old phone performed since this phone does not have the top specs. I am upgrading from a Pixel 2, which is only narrowly different from the 4a hardware-wise. I love the 4a over my old Pixel 2 because the day-to-day use is much better. The battery is fantastic, the display is vibrant, and more RAM makes it less prone to crashes. The polycarbonate body doesn't feel cheap at all (I still highly recommend a case). And who can forget the headphone jack! That really is a big selling point for me since I do not like bluetooth headphones, personally. I knocked off one notch for usability because the navigation gestures vs the buttons feels inconsistent to me, but I am trying something new. There is a tutorial built in to the phone which explains most, if not all, of its features.

Battery life is as good as advertised. Camera is great. I have not found how to concurrently and independently control volume/vibrate settings for apps/ring tone/messages if they exist. I'm used to a Samsung Galaxy, so about a 1 week learning curve until I was using it without thinking. The directional swipe commands were driving me nuts so I switched back to having the buttons on the bottom of the screen.

Loving this phone! I really appreciate the simple design and size of this phone. It's not huge, but it's not tiny: it's just right. It's not heavy, probably due to lack of glass, but also almost no fingerprint issues on the back of the phone. Even though it's plastic, it feels really well built. The pure Android experience and lack of bloatware (looking at Samsung) is very welcomed. I can run Pokémon Go on it no problem, so the performance is there for most regular usage. The screen is excellent, though 120 refresh would have been nicer, I've had no trouble viewing content on it. The speakers leave a little bit to be desired, and while I don't really need the headphone jack, it's nice it's included. The camera is amazing! The pictures are so accurate and performs as good as a flagship for my usage. Video taking could be a bit better, but for the price, this is a winner baby.

If you're looking for a budget phone with features you get more than you pay for, this phone is it. I left iPhone and went back to Android. I wanted to try the Google Pixel since most of my work is on Google drive. For $349, I was not disappointed! This is a great phone for anybody that wants to save money. It even has a great camera quality, that's rare to find for a phone of this price!

I was a Motorola guy for several years, and I really liked the value from their mid-range phones. When a Pixel came along at that $350 price point, I eventually decided to give it a try. I'm quite pleased. Biggest gripe about Motorola: updates were very slow to be released, and you won't get more than one major Android release. I've probably already gotten more updates from Google for my Pixel than I got on my G7 Power -- they come as Google releases them, keeping me up-to-date with security patches, not lagging months behind. Camera is as great as you read about Pixel cameras being, though that's not a particularly big draw for me in the first place. Stock Android is also great, though to be fair, Motorola is very good about keeping their cruft to a minimum. Fingerprint reader is just where I liked it, on the back, and works well. I do miss the Motorola gestures (e.g. chop flashlight -- apps I've tried that aim to provide the same functionality just don't work as reliably) as well as the option for SD card storage expansion. Battery life is also not as good, but that was to be expected coming from a phone with a 5000mAh battery. That was kind of its thing: "Look at my big ol' battery!" To sum up: I dig it. Barring any unforeseen problems, I could see myself sticking with Pixels in the future, unless by some chance Motorola decides to up their game when it comes to updates.

I researched smartphones for five months. The Google Pixel 4a was absolutely the stand out for me. I have been using it for the last several weeks and simply love this phone: easy to use, lack of software clutter, wonderful camera and small size! I highly recommend this smartphone! I should also mention that I use a chromebook laptop and the phone is a great match with it.

Probably the best Android budget phone on market

The phone is absolutely excellent, especially on a budget. Can't go wrong at $350. The only big downsides are that it does not include 5G or multiple cameras. If you purchase the 5G version (which is a $250 premium over the 4a regular), you get 5G support and you get a wide-angle secondary camera. Now, if your provider (or country) does not yet have 5G or good 5G coverage, then who cares. But a wide angle camera is nice, even if it may produce bubble-appearing pictures. Those things aside, the camera is great. Its snappy, its very slim and small sized, camera is great quality, good build quality. It comes with a power brick, power cable, and, really interestingly, a USB C to USB A adapter I'm guessing for off-loading pictures from your phone to a USB flash drive (since there is no MicroSD support). Sadly there is no included "gallery" app, only the standard Google Photos app, meaning everything will be connected with your Google Drive cloud :P. It was a little difficult to force the phone to use NovaLauncher by default (vs the default Pixel launder). Perhaps it was a bug with Android right out of the box? A month later I hadn't seen any of those problems. If you are on a budget, and you are an Android user, I would highly recommend this phone, especially if you are buying it for a parental figure, like I was doing.

Praises for Matt H. at Port Charlotte, FL store

When I came into Best Buy I was practically in tears because my Tracfone had died and took all my contacts and pictures down with it. I knew it was time to get a "real" phone! Unfortunately, none of my data could be saved, thus the meltdown. Young Matt H was the lucky one who got this half-crazed older woman to deal with. He was so patient with my limited technological abilities! He chose a phone he felt would best serve me after I told him what I needed it to do for me. He set up every part of it for me and found a phone that even had a discounted price. It's nice to be in the 21st Century! I tried to contact the manager of the Port Charlotte Fl store to tell him about how patient and thorough Matt was with me, but try as I did, I couldn't get through on the email address provided on the mailed card. So, I think my next purchase there will be a new camera. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to sing Matt's praises!

Great phone for a low price. The iPhone SE would be another good option in this price range, but that is only if you want to invest in the Apple ecosystem, and if you're not already in that system, I don't recommend it. I recommend this phone as an upgrade to anyone on Android. Perfect phone. Best in class camera and camera software. You really cannot beat this phone.

This Pixel 4a is the best low/medium priced phone I've owned. In fact this is the second one I've purchased (for my wife) after I bought mine 5 weeks ago. It has a fast processor, 128GB internal memory, good speakers and a great camera. I prefer the smaller size but some might like a larger phone.

I love the size of this phone; it's small enough to fit my little hands. I've had it for about two months, and I have no real complaints. It does get a bit warm sometimes, but I haven't noticed any issued with the battery life or processing speed. It's a great user-friendly option for anyone who wants integrated features, but is unwilling to join the Apple ecosystem.

This phone was purchased for a college student, and it strikes a perfect balance between performance and value. The camera is fantastic, and the battery life is serviceable. It has already survived a few drops and a fall down the stairs. I wouldn't buy any Android phone that isn't a Pixel. I've been with Google since the Nexus 4 and have also owned a Nexus 6 and Pixel 2XL.

I haven't owned an Android device since my Galaxy S4 mini, so it has been a while. However, the 4a has been an amazing "welcome home" experience. True, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of top tier phones, but it has what matters to me: excellent battery performance, crisp graphics on an easy to read screen, a small form factor, and a great price. Thank you, Google.

I was debating on getting this phone or wait to get a mid range phone (Galaxy S20 FE or Pixel 5). I don't like huge phones but this one was smaller than I thought and took some time to get used to. Overall a great camera for the price and obviously not the fastest processor/screen, but it's perfect for anyone who doesn't need to have the latest and greatest smartphone.

Great camera, easy to use. Auto photo editing makes it easy to make professional- looking photos. Battery life is excellent (2 days). Still getting used to shortcuts (ie swiping from screen etc bit I suppose thatcomes with any new phone. The camera on this rivals phones that are 2x-3x the cost which was the primary reason we got it, that and it's not an apple product

I bought this phone for my wife. She loves it. Easy to set up, easy to navigate. Probably 10 times faster than her old Samsung S5. She is also very happy with how long the battery last. Another reason I bought this phone is the size. She did not want a big phone and this Pixel 4a is the same size as her old phone. Overall she is extremely happy with her new Pixel 4a.

So like my Google Pixel 4a. Was easy to set-up using the phone provided illustrations. The phone is fast making downloads quick and easy. The phone was super easy to connect to my SUV Bluetooth. The phone camera takes excellent photos that can be downloaded, placed in a album or shared with friends. I find it to be a great phone that clear and easy to use.
