    Pixel 4A, not 5G review

So far, so good. My old phone was almost yrs old and was a low end samsung. This one is much faster (of course). Although Android, set up is different so there was and still is a bit of a learning curve. I understand that this is a Google phone so it is designed to work with all of their apps, however I would like to be able to use the phone without storing EVERYTHING through their apps. FOR EXAMPLE: Camera is decent, but I don't like that there is no post editing w/o going into Google photo and that photos, downloads, and screenshots are all stored there. I usually reserve G-photo for only stuff things I choose, not EVERYTHING. This will no doubt get me to capacity on my account very quickly. I also don't like the color adjustments the camera/phone makes automatically. Sometimes it's great and other times it's awful. This is a personal phone that I sometimes use for work. If I sync to my Google contacts then all my work contacts fill up my Google contacts. I have a lot so then it takes me forever to find personal contacts. By not allowing that, I then can't see most of my contacts so I have to use the search function. It's a minor inconvenience but we all hate extra clicks, right? I have had the phone for 2 wks. I even dropped it from chest height on a ceramic tile floor with only a cheap plastic case and no screen protector and it survived w/o a scratch. Overall, I'm happy w it, but pretty much any phone would have been an upgrade from my old one. Just be prepared to go "full on" Google if you purchase this phone. If you only use some Google services (Gmail), you may not like it. If you like to keep work and personal separate, I would weigh all pros&cons before choosing this phone.

I wanted to try a Google phone so I bought the Pixel 4a. It was much smaller than my other phones, so it was hard to get used to. I can't say anything negative about the phone and the camera is of course great. I didn't own it long, and lost it while in Bermuda. I replaced it with another Motorola phone from Best Buy! I guess that says something. Moto phones are just too good for the price

My top 2 reasons for loving this phone are battery life and the camera. Night Sight and Portrait modes are particularly impressive IMO. No wireless charging but the battery fills quickly and I can easily go the entire day on a full charge. I like that the phone isn't obnoxiously large and is fairly lightweight with it's polycarbonate body. This phone is a great value and I would recommend to almost anyone.

I've had a long history of tinkering with my phone to get it "just right." This is the first phone I've owned that is pure, stock Android. It's a pleasure to discover that, for me, it's "just right" out of the box! There's been a lot of talk about battery life with Pixel phones. I have not owned any other Pixel phones, but I can say that the battery does just fine. I can do a Zoom call for 90 minutes (VERY demanding of processor and battery) and still have plenty left for email and texting for the rest of the day. I like that the phone isn't flashy. I actually LIKE that it's made of plastic. It feels much more sturdy than a phone that's glass on both sides. It doesn't feel like it needs a protective case. The phone is also not enormous. It fits in a pocket very easily. And BRAVO to Google for keeping a standard headphone jack!!! Maybe the only thing I don't like so far is that, in Android 10, the bottom navigation buttons are replaced with gestures. It's not as easy for me to operate with one hand. Think about it: instead of a quick press on a button icon, I have to sustain a particular gesture to go back. So far, I haven't been able to do that with my thumb on either hand. I have fairly long fingers, too. I understand why they moved to gestures. It allows the screen to display more content. And I'll admit this is nice, especially when reading text. But I'm not sure it's a step up, and, apparently, I'm not alone: https://www.theverge.com/2019/8/8/20797785/google-android-q-gestures-three-button-navigation-ergonomics Definitely not a deal breaker. I won't talk about the camera, since that's already heavily reviewed (it's excellent).

This phone fits into the hand very easily and is very light weight. the screen is just big enough and provides an full range of font sizes to make it easy to read if needed. it is well made and has a reduced slip surface texture. Processor seems a little sluggish at times. I find no need for the button on the back, witch I am always touching in error causing scree switches that are unnecessary and annoying...

This phone looks, feels, and functions like a more expensive phone. It is quite simple to use, and the only issue I have encountered so far is that when I connect it to my laptop via Bluetooth, it is quickly disconnected. This may be a user error, however. Overall, it is a great buy, for sure. Great value and features (as long as you don't care about all the absolute premium bells and whistles; I don't).

So far, so good. Definitely a step up from last phone. I was worried about how long the charge would last since the battery not as big as other phones I considered but it has been fine. With the quick charge it doesn't take long when it is time to recharge. Needed a new phone due to outdated Android version, already at Android 11 so now able to load all the apps. I would definitely buy this phone again.
