Looking for an Anti-Iphone? This is it! If you have $350 to spend and not a fan of how iOS works this is you entry ticket into Android! What your not getting is premium features such as wireless charging and water resistance nor are you getting high refresh rate. What you do get is a no apology plain vanilla Android phone that will last you 3+ years. The screen is bright and the camera is amazing. This will do everything you want as long as your willing to hold back you anticipations of flagship level excitement. Well done Google

Google Pixel 4a: Best Bang for the Buck

I like the Google Pixel 4a's size and ease of use. It recharges quickly and holds that charge for at least a day. When I went shopping for a phone many months ago a Best Buy agent suggested this phone to me. What particularly interested me was the quality of the camera as I live in nyc and love to take street photos. Also, as I read e-books on my phone it's a good fit for my hand and not a heavy, cumbersome phone. I love the smartphone department at Best Buy on Fifth Ave and 44th St. where Maikon, Bruno and Kirk are the absolute best.

Great phone for the price. Works even better than my previous $800 Samsung phone. No issues so far. Great camera and great battery life too.

This is my first smartphone so this review is from an absolute rookie. Anyway, after hours of research, I decided I wanted a smaller medium-priced unlocked phone with at least 64 GB memory, decent processor and a good camera. I narrowed it down to two choices -- Pixel 4a and iPhone SE. Best Buy had both of them on display so I could hold them in my hand and play with them. Both are highly rated, capable, good-looking phones in the medium-price range. The 4a had 128 GB memory vs. paying $100 more to get the same amount of memory on the SE. Both phones are about the same size but the 4a has a much bigger (5.81" vs 4.7") screen and a headphone jack. It does not have a water- and/or dust-resistance rating. A charger is included. The SE has a much faster top-of-the-line processor and IP67 water- and dust-resistance rating. No headphone jack and no charger included. Some pro reviewers think the 4a's polycarbonate back isn't as nice-looking as the SE's all-glass back. However, polycarb is lighter while still being tough and I was going to cover the back with a case anyway. Ultimately, for me it came down to the 4a's bigger memory and bigger display in a similar-sized package. This phone is amazing so far (and will be even more so once I figure out how to use it better.) The leap from a simple ancient talk-only flip phone (no texting or data) to the 4a has been frustratingly tough. No manual included, just a slip of paper that shows where the power and volume control buttons are. Google's support website would be more understandable if photos were included. YouTube videos help. None of my friends have Pixels but a patient friend w/a Samsung really helped me get started.

I just wanted a phone I could toss my SIM card in and keep going without extending my contract and this gave me virtually every feature out there minus wireless charging, waterproofing, and 5G for a fraction of the price of comparable phones. Stock Android is nice and clean with no bloated applications added by the manufacturer or carrier. I'd make this purchase again a hundred times over, it's an absolute steal.

I am a Google disciple but had grown weary of the issues with Google phones (I'm looking at you Nexus 6P) and thus I moved on to OnePlus for several years. After seeing the great buzz with the Pixel 3 and 3a, but then the negative buzz about the 4... I was conflicted about moving back to Google phones. However, after making the jump to the 4a I can easily say that it was a great move! Amazing camera, solid build with nice textures to the body, and an unbeatable price for what you get. My kind of phone!

My mom has been making due with an older smartphone that's seen better days. She mainly used for the basics and couldn't justify the expense of a flagship device. The Pixel 4a feels like the perfect balance of affordability and overall quality. The camera quality is great. General operations don't feel sluggish or stuttery (despite the lower end specs). And she has piece of mind knowing the device will receive monthly security updates from google for the next couple of years.

I absolutely love Pixel phones, and the 4a is a very nice replacement to an older Pixel 2 that it was replacing. The screen, speakers, and performance are great, but the real kicker is the fantastic camera. My old Pixel 2 had the best camera I had ever owned and I didn't think the Pixel 4a could be much better, but I was proven wrong. The price point for this phone is what gives this an edge over almost any other Android phone available. If you need a new phone, and you're an Android fan, just buy it!

I would have been tempted to buy the Pixel 4 if I could have found one at Best Buy, but the Pixel 4a works well, is easy to use, and was a decent price. I haven't had any problems thus far. It takes very nice pictures, but it feels less substantial than other phones I have owned since it's made with (a pretty lightweight) plastic. I would definitely be concerned about making sure it is well protected. I miss some of the fun stuff on the Samsung phones I have owned and the weightier "feel" of those phones, but, overall, I can't complain.

Great phone. Upgraded from the original pixel to this one. The phone is totally worth it. I upgraded from a pixel XL. We still use wired headphones, earphones so the headphone jack is a must-have. Couldn't ask for more. The 6GB RAM makes the experience so fluid, fast. Personal use - Web Browsing, apps, youtube. Battery life is awesome. Camera is great but haven't put it to the test yet. Would suggest put a screen protector and a case immediately as the phone is light and feels expensive !!

The Pixel 4a is a fantastic phone if you are not looking for a high-end phone with all of the features that people rarely use. This phone was purchased for my daughter and she loves it. She is 10 years old. The battery lasts all day even with her being on it all the time. The camera is fantastic and the phone is a perfect size. 3 years of promised updates from google will keep the security and software features relevant for years. At this price, you really cannot go wrong with this phone.

Moving to this from a moto x4 with google fi as my provider. Old phone was having switching issues and seemed to be stuck on Sprint network too often. This phone has been perfect. My opinion is that google fi runs best on pixel phones, no big surprise. Screen is fantastic, camera very good. Phone is very light due to being made of plastic, but it doesn't feel flimsy. Battery life good. Very easy to set up out of box and transfer apps and data from old phone. Highly recommend this phone.

One of the top cameras for the price. Wish it had better zoom capabilities, but that's something you'd need to pay 2x or more for in a more premium phone. Battery life is very good, rarely need to recharge before I go to bed. And it charges to 90% in about an hour! Performance hasn't been an issue, runs pubg with no issues thus far. Even calls and texts are marked as "suspected spam" through tech that must be proprietary to Google because I didn't get that on my old phone. Overall, 4.0-4.5 out of 5 for the money.

This is my first pixel phone to replace my old LG phone that barely typed. It fits my budget. I use the phone for texting and taking pictures mostly. I am not a heavy user in games or surfing the net (I use my laptop). The battery lasts days for my use. It's easy to transition to new phone day 1. There are lots of nice features that I have yet to learn. So far I am a happy camper. Pixel 5 and 5G are due to come out, but for my needs, this is adequate and I would rather not pay a lot more.
