Honest review/ product improvement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm glad that I did not buy the pro model first of all. The phone is really smooth performance wise with it's 8gb of ram and it's chipset from google(Tensor). I do notice things are much snappier despite not having a outsourced chipset and having everything made in house. If your worried that you missed out on the pro model and what extra features it has, dont be because to me its not exactly worth it to get the pro model for these reasons. Pixel 6 has the same scratch resistant screen victis except on the back. Same chipset(tensor). So the phone should have great performance. And the screen is a bit of a trade off from the pro but you still get 90hrtz & 2k screen. Which in my opinion you dont really need all those extra pixels because sometimes if not done right it oversharpens images and causes them to look downgraded. All in All 9/10 for this phone. My biggest issue with this phone is that it does not have a dedicated piece of software running on the phone to control music quality and Equalizer settings. I came from samsung eco-system and they had that out of the box! Google Dev Team please implement this feature and please include a Dynamic Music setting that allows for a better overall listening experience. Also the phone does overheat when charging via cable but other then that use a wireless charger and it heats up alot less fyi people.

Great phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, I am very happy with my decision to buy this phone. I’ve had it for a month now and have not had any problems. The speed of the phone is amazing. Lightning fast compared to my previous phone. Lots of power still left at the end of the day even if I spend half the day on it. My only complaint, and it is minor, is that I am not crazy about where they put the fingerprint scanner. It leaves a fingerprint about a third of the way up the screen. That said, the fingerprint scanner works great.

Probably the smartest smartphone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For context, I'm coming from a OnePlus 9. The Pixel 6 has better battery life and the phone is just as responsive as my last. The dictation feature is an incredible upgrade and it's well worth getting this phone if you dictate frequently. I was worried about the battery life because reviewers were saying it's underwhelming but I don't know what they're talking about. It has excellent battery life. I'm not worried about charging because I'm using the charger brick that came with my Pixel 5 and it's working well. Android 12 is a good experience coming from oxygen OS and I think you'll enjoy it if you have any toes dipped in the Google ecosystem. This phone feels like the smartest smartphone because of its smart features like hold for me and assistive menus when calling businesses. Also, I can select text from any screen at any time. The AI is very impressive. It is a really solid phone and I don't think you will be disappointed.

Weak Bluetooth Issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A day in the life of the Pixel 6. Typically the phone is not near dead because it has been hooked up in the car so often. More about that later. I drive a 2020 Volkwagen with USB-C x 2 ports (equipped with Android Auto and Apple Car). The car will sufficiently charge the phone in an hour or so while using Android Auto. This is the very best way to charge this phone, at least the best way that I tried. It is possible that the 75.00 USD pixel stand is the best way to charge but I have not purchased such charger. I only tend the charge the phone in my car because it rarely needs it any other time. Upon waking in the morning, the phone is usually over 50% charged. When I wake up to the Pixel’s alarm it fades in and progresses to get louder if I do not wake. It is a very dependable and pleasant alarm. The phone uses chrome as it’s browser by default. There are no others to download or to set up. If you are a google use, meaning your main email account is a gmail account, you will enjoy the integrated feel of chrome and gmail. The phone performs well in the morning when not using many of it’s sensors. Graphics are smooth and the experience is good. Time to take this fella on a sweaty run. It has all of the certifications it needs to go in a pocket and take a sweaty run. I use spotify as my music because I don’t like any others (at least not as much as spotify). Spotify works well on the pixel 6. My tracks are downloaded so no need to stream. I hook up my beats fit pro to this bad mamma jamma and it’s time to run. During the run the phone is connected to my Garmin Darth Vader watch and my beats. Wifi stays on but doesn’t connect to any networks after leaving my home network. Spotify stays relatively loud for the first 30 mins of the run while things are nice and dry. The phone is on my waste and starts disconnecting when I turn my head to look for on coming traffic. The disconnect is quick and not too bad but consistent. If I am sweating and my phone is located under one layer of clothing and wet from sweat (not damp but WET), the phone will cut out when I turn my head in either direction. This has been tested with a running belt or in a pocket. The phone is always positioned in a way that the USB port is down or on the side. I am always careful leave the port open and not facing my head or the sweat flow. This result is the same with Beats Fit Pro, Beats Studio Buds, Jabra 65T, and Jabra 65 Sport. The result is better with Powerbeats 4 as they are wired together and not truly wireless. The screen typically is good at staying locked and not responding to sweat ghost touches. They do happen because of the lock screens media controls. Hitting the google button on the side will dim the screen and stop the reaction to sweat. Scanning my wet fingerprint while running is 50/50. Getting the screen/ finger tip as dry as possible helps. The Bluetooth is consistently an issue on this device. The signal is weak and is constantly disconnecting. Back to driving. Upon entering my car the phone will sporadically connect to Bluetooth. Sometimes the car and the phone will share a code and need to be connected, other times the pixel 6 will connect with no issues, and other times it will not announce any problems and connect to Android Auto BUT if a call is made/received the phone will not be connected to BT and have to be held or put on speaker. If the Bluetooth is not connected to the pixel 6 from the 2020 VW, the Pixel HAS to be restarted to work correctly. The phone will not connect and stay connected to BT in the 2020 VW without being restarted prior to the beginning of a drive in most instances. This has become more problematic since the Android 13 upgrade. Ultimately my review of the device is low because of the frustration that has set in with the device. I do think that the weak Bluetooth is ultimately the problem. I have other devices that I run with and weak Bluetooth always acts the same. I would not recommend this device as a runner friendly device. If the devices worked better for me and other runners, it would work better for the typical user that doesn’t use features as extensively.

Wanted To Love It, But....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Pixel 6 after my Pixel 4a 5G mysteriously died almost exactly a week after the 1-year warranty expired. I've been a fan of Google phones since before the Nexus line launched and consistently upgraded every 1-2 years. With the Pixel 6 and its larger sibling being the first Google phones with the proprietary Tensor chip I had high expectations. Performance is smooth and everything but overall I just don't love the phone and don't see huge improvements over previous generations. It also comes with some pretty big downsides. Firstly, for me, it's just too big and heavy compared to the 4a 5G. Even though on paper the differences don't look huge, in practice I find it difficult to use and carry around. Unless you have pretty big hands the Pro would be a definite no go. I think it'd have been better for Google to make the Pixel 6 a decent amount smaller than the Pro - Pixel 2 XL and 4a 5G were both fine sizes for me. Otherwise if you want a smaller phone you're forced to go with other manufacturers or an older Google generation e.g. the Pixel 5 or 5a 5G which have shorter lifespans for security updates. As it is, both the 6 and especially the Pro are VERY big phones, each weighing in at over 200g / 7oz. For the 6 it feels like it's heavier than the smallish leap in size over the 4a 5G would suggest (fancier camera and bigger battery perhaps?). The second big issue is the new in-screen fingerprint scanner which is beyond frustratingly slow to use. Cool technology in theory but give me the old ones on the back of the phone any day. Hopefully this can be fixed in software updates but if not it'll be an ongoing frustration and major drawback. Finally, despite the much-touted 24 hour+ battery life I'm really not seeing any significant improvements over the lower capacity 4a 5G. Tensor doesn't seem to be delivering the efficiencies I'd hoped for, unless battery power is being eaten up by the larger, higher resolution screen. I still find myself needing to make sure it's in battery saver mode when I'm out and about. Overall it's not a bad phone for the price. But after years of Pixel phones being "almost great", even aside from the size challenges, I'd expected so much more from this latest iteration. I'm seriously considering returning it but not sure what I'd get instead. I've never owned an iPhone but they get more appealing with every Pixel miss.

Awesome phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well I have had samsung and apple phones since the first iphone came out, so I know about phones. I say this phone is so far one of my favorites. It has great size, not too small, not too big. It has no bloatware like if you get samsung. Just google apps. The screen has no unexpected issues. Those who are complaining about green tint should know this is a flaw on a lot of panels, just try again its a panel lottery. Theyre all quite random. Also this phone isn't insanely priced. Iphone is now so high I'd rather get a laptop or desktop instead. Too high. In short this is a fantastic phone, there's nothing to lose and everything to gain. Don't throw $1000+ at apple, it already has trillions, Get this beauty instead and keep your money for yourself.

Ding, ding, ding! Winner!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fit and finish on the Pixel 6 Pro is A+! Wireless charging works even with a OtterBox Defender; can't see the fit or finish with this case! Camera is stellar. Much better than my Pixel 3XL, and i had no complaints with that phone. Magic Eraser works well, and seems to impress the people i show it off too. Only complaint I have is, there isn't one glass screen protector I've tried that hasn't killed the usability of the fingerprint sensor. I've tried the TPU protector from Spigen and was impressed that the fingerprint sensor worked, but even that killed the sensitivity of the phone. So if the fingerprint sensor isn't important to you, or you don't use a screen protector, this phone is a solid choice.

Great Phone Very Solid
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent build quality on the phone. Feels secure and not fragile. I have always had unlocked phone and phone is fast and have no major issues except with the finger print scanner. Hit and miss and does not work well. But call quality and everything else top notch. Replaced a OnePlus 7T which was a great phone until an update to android 11, Trashed the phone and OnePlus has gone down the Tube. I am going to find a recommend screen protector and will update if it get better

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgrade in every fashion except fingerprint reader. Hope they get a firmware update for it. Shut off the 5g if you want a little longer battery life. Lasts all day but I don't use it much all day. First new phone in four years so this is an upgrade for me.
