As an iPhone user, I've always gravitated towards the Apple ecosystem. Blue bubbles, family pressure. It's all real. I've wanted to try a Pixel, but it never made sense. I have used Android in the past, but didn't have a great experience, so I stayed on the iPhone. After hearing all the good things with the Pixel 7, I had the opportunity to try the Pixel 7 Pro. Whoa...Android has come a long way. I immediately felt comfortable since I have Google everything, which cooperates with iOS, but is nothing like the Pixel integration. Of course, the first thing I tried was the camera. Whoa again, it's really good. I've had an iPhone 12 for 2 years, and I can't believe how far mobile cameras have come. I used to use an ancient Nokia N95 just for the camera. I then moved to a Nokia 1020; just for the camera. So both phone OSs ended up failing (Symbian and Windows Phone). iPhone after iPhone, the cameras improved to a point where the 12 was fine to keep for 2+ yrs. Back to the Pixel 7 Pro. I can't help but be lured away from the iPhone. Maybe it's because it's new. Maybe because of the Google integration. Whatever the case, I'm really enjoying it thus far. Camera speaks for itself, so here are some other thoughts. The actual "Phone" features are plentiful, which, honestly surprises me in 2022. Nobody uses the phone anymore lol. It has Call blocking, a feature called hold for me (phone literally takes hold music and lets you know when someone answers), call screening. I don't feel bad hanging up on telemarketers, I just have Google assistant answer. Apparently there is a feature that improves [blocking] background noise by using AI to counteract noisy backgrounds (noisy restaurant, etc.). Texting is a...different...now I'm green on iPhones. Guess what? I don't care anymore, but I do hate how low-res texting photos is. Honestly I'm tired of Apple and their continued stubbornness with iMessage lock-in. Maybe one day everyone can just use texting and have a good cross-platform experience. I'm never going to convert a lot of friends/colleagues to Whatsapp or something, so grainy video sharing it is, I guess. The screen is gorgeous. Nice and bright, even in the sun. Scrolling is smooth, and Android feels very fast, especially compared to my bad experience with an older Samsung. It's a thin phone and is absolutely slippery. I felt like I was going to drop it so I got a carbon-fiber case (Aramid, it's called). Amazon has them. I've attached a photo of my Pixel in the case. Nice and grippy. The voice memo app converts everything it hears to text in real-time. The timestamps when you tap a word match the audio being played, in-sync. The battery life seems to be great, but it is a brand new phone, so I haven't been able to test long-term yet. Maybe I was tired of iOS, or maybe Android has just come a long way. Whatever the case, I've been very happy with this phone and Android in general. I'm going to make the switch, honestly, despite the green bubble. I'm seriously impressed with the Pixel and look forward to using this phone more. I recommend it to anyone seeking a phone with an outstanding camera, slick and polished OS, and of course, being a phone. It isn't iOS, but like I said, I really don't care anymore. Needed a change and ended up regretting I didn't try the Pixel years ago. Unless there is an overlooked flaw I've missed, I am a fan of this device!

I’ll start by saying that I have had just about every high-end Pixel phone since Pixel phones have existed, apart from the Pixel 5, and I must say, this is by far the best. I know that every year the phones are supposed to be better than the last and it Is what is expected, but Google really did a great job with the 7 Pro. It feels more premium, looks more premium and operates more premium. The new tensor G2 chip packs quite the punch. Everything just feels more fluid, and smoother compared to last years Pixel. Google seems to have really invested more time into the attention and detail of what made the Pixel 6 Pro so great and ironed things out with the 7 Pro. The screen clarity and brightness, the chip, the camera. Not to mention the much-needed improvement to the under the screen fingerprint reader as well as the return of face unlock (finally!) The only thing I really feel Google truly needs to work on is battery life. Don’t get me wrong, you can get exceptional battery life with extreme battery saver mode, but I do not like having to sacrifice some features to get peace of mind for battery. It’s better than last year’s model, but I really hope we see a lot of effort next year with the next Pixel release. But hey, we are here for the cameras mostly, and oh my do they excel. Pixel has always been known for exceptional camera quality, but this year, WOW. With the introduction of Macro Focus, you can get truly incredible photos. I took some photos that you can see attached of tiny little mum flowers sitting outside my house, and I was blown away by the detail and water detail I was able to capture. Same with a leaf I took a shot of the veins of the leaf look insane. I can’t get over the detail this camera can get. It’s truly an all-in-one camera system, between Macro, Super Res Zoom, Cinematic blur, Photo unblur, there really isn’t a shot you can’t get with this system. Oh and, it is a phone after all. So, we are supposed to take calls and make calls, right? This must be the crispest sounding phone for taking calls. Things are so clear with no background noise, that I have to make sure I am even still on the call. If you’re a Pixel fan, android fan, and are unsure if you want to take the leap, do it, you won’t regret it. Any issues you may have had in last years Pixel or Pixels prior, forget the past and move on, because the Pixel 7 series feels like a fresh start in the right direction for the Pixel series.

Wow - What a phone! I have been using an iPhone for more years than I care to admit so I was not sure what to expect when switching to a "pure" android phone. It's intuitive enough that I barely had to think about anything. The setup wizard connected to my google account, walked me through importing contacts and that - was - that. I'm currently using this with T-mobile and Google FI at the same time thanks to support for 2 e-sims and one physical sim. Setting which carrier is preferred for outbound calls and to be used as the primary for data is simple and prompt driven. It's also easy to switch carrier preferences. I'm seeing data rates on the 5G network in the high 100's of Mbps. I have had no issues while traveling out of town with service. As someone who has not used an android phone in years - I expected this switchover to be cumbersome and that I would have to get used to a completely different OS. The reality was much simpler. The UI is polished and the phone contains no 3rd party launchers or per-installed carrier applications to get in the way of use. It made me realize how much "junk" is littering up my Samsung android tablet. Aside from being a flagship phone with the huge screen and all the bells and whistles - The camera and image processing on this phone is somewhere out in the realm of unreal. I intentionally took piles of "bad snapshots" just to see how much it can compensate. I tried every mode the wrong way, I filmed video while standing in the shade pointed towards the sun etc. . . . This is where this phone truly shines. While of course not every shot and video is picture perfect - the processing on this makes up for my misuse in ways I did not even expect often producing usable to brilliantly good photos where I absolutely did not expect them. What I love ! -Pure Bloatware Free Android experience -The best camera setup I have used to date ! -HUGE screen ! Not so great - -No Micro-SD card slot - buy the storage you need when you buy the phone. -No charger included - Just cables. Overall – This phone is epic ! I will be switching my wife and daughter to these shortly !

I think I paid about $120 with a iphone 11 trade in more than a year ago. So far the phone has been pretty awesome for the price I paid. Pros: - Plain vanilla android with latest and fastest updates. - speedy performance, no lags - Good camera. - decent battery life. - great display. Cons: - picture quality not the best. I was hoping for better quality pics than on iphone 11, but was disappointed. Some noise on most photos when zoomed, even when shot on very good light conditions. My older Pixel 3XL pictures are clearer and better. I use my Samsung S22 for all my pictures and video needs. So much better on S22 than on this Pixel. - Random layer of tiny spinning balls come up several times every day, making the phone unusable until you swipe up and close that whatever all/layer, which can get pretty irritating and frustrating. No way to disable that behavior, even after updates and factory resets. Unless you get an awesome deal, I don't recommend this phone. Get a used galaxy s22 or other Samsung phones instead.

Coming from a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, I assumed I was getting the full Android experience. I knew the Pixel line was Google's version of the platform, but never used one before except for maybe playing with a few for a few minutes from a display unit. You don't know what you're missing until you use one for your everyday phone. The first thing I noticed was how fluid the experience is. It's snappy, it's smooth as ever. I love the minimalism to the UI. Over the years Samsung's version has gotten better, but I still feel like their additions to Android can be cumbersome at times. This Pixel line is not only more fluid from my S21 Ultra, but it's much less expensive, which in the end, is what we are all looking for, right? A flagship experience for a budget price. Now, I know the Pixel Pro version is still $899, which isn't exactly cheap, but in comparison it is. The value is there! The camera on these are impressive. The hardware seems top quality, but the software is where this phone shines the most. The processing results of the photos are the best I've ever seen. You can snap photos as quickly as is possible with a phone. The shutter is almost instant. This comes in especially handy with quick moving children. With all that being said, I think the best feature of a Pixel is hands down the spam stopper. No more annoying spam calls or texts! The software they have implemented is so great that you don't even know it stops the calls or texts. It just does. You can adjust the sensitivity with it too! All in all this is how Android should be experienced. My hope is that one day the Pixel line up will have an Ultra version that has the top hardware to pair with it's leading software for us who want the best of both worlds. But if I had a choice between software and hardware, I'd pick software every single time.

This is much like an iPhone in terms of the ecosystem. The Pixel works fantastic with other Google products, without being too complex. Have used Samsung and LG smartphones in the past but Pixel streamlines all features into an accessible way. Nothing flashy about this phone with gimmicks like other brands, but effective at what I need in my day to day. Bought this for my girlfriend because she was looking to transition from Apple to Android and this was the perfect solution. We also always get compliments from the Pixel's camera quality on social media. Even doing side by side comparisons with friends that are Apple users, we agree Pixel photos are superior. For such a fantastic phone, the price is also not going to break the bank.

I was so excited to switch from my galaxy s20 ultra and upgrade to the Google Pixel 7 Pro. Im a mom of 5 so camera quality is always the first thing i look for in a phone. Im constantly taking photos and videos of my kids so it was the first feature i went to on the pixel phone. The camera quality is absolutely amazing and extremely clear. I was able to see across the field and see my neighbors decorations on her porch, clear as day the wording on her sign and all! I absolutely love the camera on the pixel and definitel thibk its a step up from what i had previously. I love the different features in the camera app as well. When using the phone, there is no lag in browsing through the apps, internet, or playing games. Everything runs quite smoothly. It has great service on calls and texts. I love the slim design with the large screen. I went in and set all my personalized settings like ringtones and vibrations, brightness, and setup all my apps that i wanted downloaded. Everything was easily done and up to par. Overall i really love the pixel 7 pro because of its canera quality.

Overall the phone is very good. Very responsive. reception and call clarity are all good. The screen is clear and bright. Voice dictation it's among the best and the industry. The camera. What it's known for is of course very good. The options in the software are simple and easy to navigate. The editing software included on the phone is also powerful but easy to navigate and execute. There are a few things that hold this phone back from being samsung or apple level quality. First and foremost, the fingerprint reader is trash. I've never had so many issues with a reader since they were introduced almost the decade ago. I've been locked out of so many accounts. I know some apps require it, as it's the only biometrics that can be used, but if you can, use it as little as possible. Use the facial or pattern unlocks. The second issue is the stock Android interface. Simple thing such as creating folders are non-existent. Be prepared to scroll through pages and pages of apps even before you add your own. Yes, you can download a launcher but that just adds bloat and security issues to your phone to fix a simple issue. You have the ability to make folders just on your homepage and not on your apps pages. Why? The third issue is upgrades. The phone upgrades your system while keeping it fully available to use. In theory, this sounds good, but this translates into a three megabyte update taking hours to complete. A major upgrade could take overnight or longer, Instead of just taking your phone offline for a few minutes like other phones do. You should at least have the option to either keep using the phone or letting the update take priority. If you're not looking to spend a thousand plus dollars for a Samsung and don't want to pay the Apple tax, this phone should be at the top of your list. But if ease of use is at the top of your list, the extra $500 for those other phones may be worth it.

This phone doesn't just feel like you're using a smartphone. It feels like you're carrying a little tech buddy that genuinely tries it's best to help you out in any way it can. The amount of features packed into the software are just amazing. Call screening, now playing, and live translate are some of my personal favorite. On top of the plethora of features, the phone is just so easy to personalize to your liking. Google's Material You theming is by far the most playful and visually pleasing software experience out there. Lastly, there's the cameras and overall performance. It's a quick, snappy, and smooth phone that handles every task with ease. Unsure about it's gaming performance as I don't game on my phone, but I can imagine it's relatively good as well. The cameras are genuinely fantastic. Google's color/photo algorithm is unmatched. This is probably the best point and shoot camera on a smartphone right now. The battery lasts about 2 days for my personal use and charges relatively quickly. Overall, this is a genuinely fantastic little device. It's fast, extremely helpful, and fun to use. There's a reason why this particular device won MKBHD's smartphone of the year award.

    First impressions

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I just got the Pixel 7 on Friday the day after the release day. I'm migrating from a Samsung S21 5G so I've always gravitated towards the value, smaller flagship phones. Trade-in amount was great direct and almost covered the full cost of the phone/equal to what I paid for it. It was mainly for the great intro deal that I jumped at upgrading a phone that was only 1.5 years old. Also read about the Samsung batteries expanding... Nondescript package came 1 day after ordering. In box, comes with USB-C cable and a USB to USB-C adaptor, no AC adaptor plug at all. I had thought about getting the lemongrass then the white but ended up getting the boring black on the advice of my daughter but also thought it would stand up to wear and tear the best. Out of the box it's very very glossy. It's OK but it's had fingerprints since you first touch it. One weird thing is the box was scuffed up on the outside and the phone had particles on it like it had been opened but this was straight from the factory. I tried to use an eSIM to activate and save the trip to the store but a las the technology didn't work and phone got stuck in a activation no where land. Luckily on Saturday there was a store open that could help me out b/c the phone support is closed on weekends?! Long story short, store was able to get on the phone with their "specialists" and get the phone activated by using a physical SIM. After that, brought the phone home went through the menus and use a USB-C to migrate my apps, data over in no time. Easiest upgrade ever (aside from the activation hiccup which is par for course). Overall first impressions is it's a much nicer phone that my Samsung Galaxy S21. Feels better built with more weight with a cleaner more responsive UI than the Samsung One UI. I looked at online videos to learn how to switch between active apps. I really never did like or find value in all the Samsung apps, much prefer a pure, clean OS which of course the Pixel is. Power button, volume up/down are flipped between the Samsung and the Pixel but intuitively I much prefer the Pixel with the power on the top. As I said, I mainly got the Pixel b/c of the trade-in deal that essentially made the phone free to upgrade. I saw the launch event and was very excited about the unblur photo option and being a tech person all the AI/ML stuff enabled by the new Tensor G2. So far after 2 days very glad I upgraded. I have to confess I also upgraded b/c I was having issues with cellular connectivity on through my Verizon MVNO carrier and I read online that this could be a Samsung issue. I'm not a gamer and use my phone mainly to text, as a MFA code generator, for vendor apps (restaurants, transit), and web browsing so my demands are not that great. I'll report back after a while with an update on reliability and any issues found.

Performance-wise, the Pixel 7 is impressive. It operates on Android 13 and is powered by Google's Tensor G2 chip, making it incredibly fast and smooth to use. Even compared to higher-priced models like the Samsung Galaxy S22, the Pixel 7 holds its own with its superior camera quality and overall performance. The camera system, despite lacking a telephoto lens, still manages to capture stunning photos. I also appreciate Google's creative camera features that make it easy to capture professional-quality photos. One of the highlights of the Pixel 7 is the display. The 6.3-inch OLED screen offers crisp and vivid visuals, and while the 90Hz refresh rate isn't the highest on the market, I feel like it still provides a noticeably smoother experience than a standard 60Hz display. On the downside, I do wish the device had a faster charging feature, and the absence of a telephoto camera is a bit disappointing. Nonetheless, for the price point, these are minor trade-offs.

Upgraded from my Pixel 6. The cost of the phone was less about $50 after trade-in and gift card, though it was another $100 for the screen protector and case. :/ The phone is zippy, great screen, fits nicely in my hand (I like that it's a bit smaller than the Pixel 6). Android has managed to make the transfer from one phone to another incredibly painless, with all the apps restored, and even the app shortcuts restoring to the new home screen, and settings copied to the new device. My one complaint is that the fingerprint reader still fails more often than not, but face unlock sometimes saves the day. I miss the fingerprint reader on the back of my Pixel 3; that thing worked every time. For BestBuy's part, the phone arrived really quickly, and the $100 BestBuy gift card is more flexible than a $100 Google Store credit, but I've been waiting for more than a week for the trade-in shipping kit, and after emailing BestBuy twice, I've still heard nothing. Eventually, I'll have to make my way into a store to complete the trade-in, which has somewhat soured what was otherwise a pleasant transaction.

The Pixle 7 is a great phone got it as a replacement for an older secondary phone. It replaced and older LG V30 it blows that phone out the water on all levels. The Pixle 7 is fast and snappy, the display is vibrant and clear. The units 5g is fast constantly seeing 500+ mbs downloads on my network. Transfer of old phone date is east as pie if your and android user. Getting it in unlocked is the best no carrier bloatware just put android as google intended it. Got the unit in the white wouldn't not have it in a case seems as if the white picks up dirt fast. Camera is great I think its better than on my Note 10+ plus 5G . The camera seems to take images more ture to life as you see them with your eye no noticeable over saturated look. Battery life is good. Phone is lightweight and fits in your had well.

I've pined for a Pixel phone for years and this was the first time I could actually pick one up. I upgraded from a Galaxy S10e to the P7. There are certain things I had to give up (headphone jack, SD card slot) but that's whatever. First off, this device is a chunker. I'm not as worried about the overall size but it's quite heavy, and can get tiring to use it for a long time. It's plenty fast, opening and closing apps as well as multitasking. Sometimes the camera app gets a little glitchy but typically it's fine. There have been a few bugs here and there that are frustrating, I feel like I need to restart the Pixel way more often than I ever did with my Galaxy. The camera is excellent, but not worlds better than the S10e, though the digital zoom is certainly an improvement. Overall it's a great phone, solid and dependable. I anticipate I will likely return to Samsung in a few years when it's time to upgrade.

The Pixel 7 is my second pixel after the pixel 3a. The 3a was great a few years ago but it didn't last long because it wasn't water resistant and I had it underwater by accident and it died. This phone is supposed to be water resistant so hopefully will last a few years. The price I got this phone, $399 after best buy price adjusted from $499 plus tax seems great. So far I've had the phone for a few days and it is way better than my previous OnePlus. The OnePlus didn't feel premium and this does even with my slightly bulky case. Performance is snappy, camera is great and battery life so far has been good too. Overall this seems like a great little device, specially at this price.
