    Pixels Just Keep Getting Better

I’m writing this review from the standpoint of a long time Pixel owner upgrading to the newest model. I upgraded from the 6 Pro to this 7 Pro. You won’t find a huge difference between the two. That means the good news is that there’s practically no learning curve in the upgrade. Switching to the 7 Pro was effortless. I’m a T-Mobile customer, so I just swapped my old phone’s SIM card to the new phone. It’s easy (directions are all over YouTube) and it took about 30 seconds. I turned on the phone and it was automatically connected to T-Mobile. I was delighted to see how easy it was to transfer all my apps and settings to the new phone. It even swapped the ‘ring’ and my old ‘desktop for me; all my contacts and phone numbers too. Just connect the two phones with the included cable and follow the instructions on the display. It really is effortless. I was totally up and running with the new phone in less than an hour. There are noticeable improvements in the camera this year. The “Pro” pixel still has three different lenses, but the wide-angle one is wider, from 16mm to 14, and the telephoto is more powerful from 102 mm to 120, from 4x to 5x. That ultra-wide angle lens now has a really nice macro feature. At last you can get close-up on a small object like a flower and NOT receive the frustrating “move back” message as the camera tries to focus. I loved it. The Pixel’s AI features keep getting better too. The Night Sight mode is better than ever, sucking in more available light than before, and this year there’s an “unblur” feature, where the phone will try to remove accidental blurriness from a photo you’ve taken in the past. I had trouble trying this feature out, because the camera was so good, I didn’t HAVE any blurred photos. The new Pixel 7 Pro brings back the ‘face unlock’ feature from much earlier models for those who missed it. I didn’t turn it on because I think the fingerprint unlock is more secure. Also, whereas the fingerprint unlock feature could be sluggish on my old ‘6 Pro,’ I find it much improved on this new model. If your old phone did not have a ‘5G” capability, you’ll be blown away with the speed on your new Pixel. The bottom line is this: If you already have a Pixel 6 Pro, it’s up to you to decide whether its worth around 900 bucks to upgrade to the 7. Your current phone is still very serviceable and should keep you happy for another year. If you love Pixels and have an older model, it’s certainly worth it

A frustrating phone with a good camera.

I expected better from Google who I considered masters of user experience. My first warning is if you buy it do not wait to get a case because it is slippier than a wet baby. Now for just a few of my other complaints. There is no page back button and instead you swipe left or right...both directions will only result in the previous page though. This is a huge issue when navigating as many websites such as amazon utilize the function to scroll merchandise etc. so the page is always jumping back and it is no easy task to return to what you were doing. It makes shopping unbearable. Next to pull up open pages and apps requires an awkward motion from the bottom of the page that is successful 38% of the time. Then there is wonky notifications and lack thereof. This phone seems to have a mind of its own when it comes to letting you know if someone is calling or texting and the settings are just there to give you a false sense of security. The same is true of alarms... you swipe stop and it rings the snooze 50 times... swipe snooze and you WILL be late. There are a plenty more annoying problems with this phone that you can discover for yourself if you decide to buy it. That being said the one redeeming quality that the pixel7 has is the camera. It is not just good, it's great. Too bad the rest of the pixel7 is a disappointment.

Google tries really hard this time!

Now I feel like Google is actually trying. Few years back I was using Pixel phones and I was very dissappointed every time I bought a Pixel and went back to Iphone and I wanted to give another try. Honestly Price/Performance is the best. They have great Trade-in promo and everything is fast, Snappy app openings, Camera is great. I will wait for the Tensor 3 upgrade and better Pixel next year to upgrade. Already excited.

    Good Phone with Horrible Quirks

Good phone in general, with a few fatal flaws. Several Google aps, of all things, frequently cause it to crash or freeze. Google Maps is an especial culprit. Another major issue is the combination charging port/headset jack. Google Assistant repetitively asks how it can help, when attempting to use wired headsets. *If you disable Assistant*, then the user keeps getting a message that "Google Assistant is ready to help you get things done"! Which is amazingly frustrating, considering the stupid thing is disabled. Otherwise, it's a pretty good phone, good size, very good if not great colors, and excellent camera.

    Generational Gap

Love the pixel phones. Got this one because of the recent T-Mobile tower upgrades. My old pixel was no longer comparable with the new towers. Honestly I didn't think you could improve on the pixel 4, but the 7 is amazing. It's faster, more responsive, and just an over all better working unit. See you in another 3 or so models Google, can't wait for the pixel 10

Good, but warranty needs to cover camera glass

So far so good. The phone's battery life is great! I never go below 50% over a whole day of use. There are some bugs in the software, but Google is aware of these and offering patches on a monthly basis. The one concern I have is there have been reports of spontaneous cracking of the camera glass, and Google not covering same under warranty. I've not had that happen, but others have. That needs to change for this to get 5-stars.

    Disappointing sound quality

Awful speakers. Gets pretty loud, but totally lacks mids and low frequencies. Phone calls sound fine but it is awful for music and YouTube videos. Turning on adaptive sound helps a bit, but is still lacking. The pixel 4a5g sounds way better. Build quality feels great. Very snappy. Nice display. Good camera.

I love this phone. The only negatives I could mention is that it is a little on the heavy side, and battery is not the best but still good. But that's it. Really can't beat the price. And all the accessibility features have me very impressed.

Different then previous phone, still learning. Love the camera and some of the features, which is why it was recommended. Better than my last Samsung. I can erase objects, identify animals and hopefully flowers. I still can't go back and get to things as easily as I hoped.

    Cost-Benefit Analysis: Just Right

Replacing 3-year old locked device I got thru a low-cost [and low-quality] carrier. My old Motorola G7 Play was showing its age. Naturally, I'm pleased with battery performance, image quality, fast responses, etc.

I love everything about this phone except the battery. Usually a brand new battery for me last 2 days. This one barely makes it through a day. If you are looking for a good camera on the phone, this is the phone for you!
