Customers are saying

Customers regard the Pixel 7a 5G 128GB (Unlocked) highly for its excellent camera quality, impressive battery life, and ease of use. Many appreciate the screen size and find it offers great value for the price. While some users miss the headphone jack and note occasional heating issues, the positive feedback on the camera and overall performance outweighs these concerns. The phone's design and smooth refresh rate are also frequently praised.

I recently purchased the Google Pixel 7a from Best Buy, and I'm thoroughly impressed. The phone offers fantastic value for its price. The performance, powered by the Tensor G2 chip, is smooth and efficient, making multitasking a breeze. The 64MP camera is a standout feature, capturing sharp and vibrant photos even in low light. The 6.1-inch OLED display provides a crisp and enjoyable viewing experience. Battery life is reliable, lasting me through a full day of heavy use. Additionally, the clean Android interface and timely updates are a big plus. Overall, the Pixel 7a is a top-notch choice for anyone looking for a high-quality mid-range smartphone.

    Not Quite Good Enough

I like everything about this phone as a more reasonably priced alternative to a Samsung or Apple equivalent - EXCEPT for one very important feature (at least for me) it lacks. I researched the Pixel 6, 7 and 7a extensively and eventually settle on the middle-of-the-road 7a. It is slightly better than the 6 and the technology differences with the 7 did not bother me, or so I thought. The major difference with the 7a relative to the 6, 7 and 7 pro is that the 7a DOES NOT support simultaneous use of Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Hotspot. This is a very important lacking that should be pointed out in all of the lovely specifications Google wants to throw at you about these phones. This fact was not mentioned in any of the Google reviews I looked at. This is a feature I occasionally use in my home as a work-around to a router issue with one of my computers. The computer would not stay directly connected to the router but it would to the Hotspot. Go figure! So the first time I use this work-around, the phone notifies me I have used 2GB of my mobile data (I do not pay the extravagant fees for an unlimited plan). That is when I verify that when I turn-on Wi-Fi on the Google PIxel 7a, it turns off the Hotspot. And when I turn on the Hotspot, it turns off the Wi-Fi. Again, go figure. The Pixel 7a has a Wi-Fi Hotspot feature that does not REALLY allow you to share a Wi-Fi connection. All it allows you to do is chew through your mobile data even faster!! After further online searches for this specific issue, I now know this is a hardware limitation specific to the 7a and there is no way around it. Now after reading this review, you also know. If a true shared Wi-Fi Hotspot is an important feature for you, the Google Pixel 7a is not the choice for you.

Why buy a flagship when this is just as good

80% of a flagship at a fraction of the cost. This thing is fast enough to let me do anything I could want, including play games at 60+ fps. It has all the features you'd expect from a flagship but you aren't paying over 1k dollars for it. You get the stock Android experience, OLED screen and 90hz refresh rate to boot, Perfect size, not too small but not too large. And the camera is incredible... able to take absolutely beautiful pictures, enhanced night photos, slow motion, all of it. Also has LDAC bluetooth codec for lossless music...what more could you want?

Sold my Pixel 7, and switched to the 7a. Just as fast, screen is just as smooth with the 90hz, speakers sound better and the size is perfect. Theres really no negative that i can tell as far as choosing the 7a over the 7. The back is plastic according to reviews, but if i hadnt read it first, I wouldnt of been able to tell based off on-hand feel. Very happy with the device.

The Google Pixel 7a is highly regarded for its balance of price and performance, making it a top choice in the mid-range market. Key improvements include a 90Hz OLED display, which enhances smoothness and visual experience, and the Tensor G2 processor, boosting overall performance. The camera system excels, particularly in low-light conditions. It also adds wireless charging and retains solid battery life. However, the phone's design can be slippery, and some minor bugs affect usability. Overall, it is seen as offering remarkable value for its price

I went from the older Pixel 4A to the 7A. The 4A was beginning to wear out. The battery hung in there, but the USB-C charging port was becoming defective. Likes: Looks as if the 7A has better battery life. The ability to charge wirelessly is a plus, although it charges pretty slowly that way. Not having to use the USB-C port on the 7A all of the time is a relief. The user interface response is noticeably faster than it was with the 4A. The 7A starts up and reboots much faster. Dislikes: I prefer the more rounded edges of the 4A but this is not a deal breaker. The removal of the dedicated fingerprint sensor on the back, which is a huge convenience on the 4A, is definitely a "minus" on the 7A, whose on-screen fingerprint sensor is not 100% reliable. I've had to delete and redo at least one of the stored fingerprints a couple of times. That never happened with the 4A. The lack of audio port is also kind of frustrating. Fortunately, I found a small inexpensive device that enables you to use a wired headset via Bluetooth without noticeable loss of audio quality. That saved me from having to spend $50 to $100 on a Bluetooth headset or else having to use a USB-C to 3.5mm "dongle"—which works, but it's kind of annoying—just one more thing to misplace. Conclusion: In normal use the 7A seems much like the last Pixel I owned and I'm sure I'll be happy with it for several years despite a few annoyances. Google's implementation of Android is relatively spare, and you don't get the bloatware that's loaded onto other phones. That, I definitely appreciate.

Replacement for Pixel 5A this phone is fast with very good battery life so far. The screen is decent though not top of the line and the camera is also very good with good zoom and other features new to this model. I miss the physical fingerprint reader on the back of the 5a, this model has a virtual fingerprint reader on the screen which is not always reliable. Face ID works well in good light. The navigation buttons are no longer at the bottom of the screen but it was easy to learn the new swipe skills to navigate. The wifi connectivity and internet speed are also better than my 5a.

Got a great deal on this phone due to a pricing error on the shelf so I'm grading on a curve. Pros: - For the most part, really enjoy the Pixel phone's version of Android (primarily used Samsung in the past and that was becoming excellent though maybe too feature rich for some new users to Android) - Camera really good (for the price). My previous Galaxy S21 I think produced better photos but cost way more than I paid for this. Also grading on a curve here from the deal I got - Face unlock is excellent (when you are in a lit room)... One con I will go over below - Processor, or should I say the whole experience including any optimizations made by Google on the software with this processor, is solid. Never noticed any stutters, etc. though this processor benchmarks slower than flagship Snapdragon processors in other Android phones. I'm sure this wipes the floor with budget phone processor alternatives though Cons: - Phone gets a little warm compared to phones with Snapdragon processors. Not the end of the world but something to be aware of - Battery life is just ok. Had it for a month now and I don't think it will improve. Not battery anxiety level but any heavy use plunges battery life. There are other midrange phones out there with ridiculously huge batteries and multi-day battery life. This isn't one of them but gets the job done for non-heavy use - Fingerprint reader is ok but not as good (often doesn't work on the first try) as the ultrasonic ones on the Samsung phones - Face unlock sometimes picks up your face as you're putting the phone in your pocket which ends up unlocking it right before. Then you end up with some unintended button presses in your pocket. I think what could be improved is some semblance of the proximity to your face when you unlock to avoid this - The average retail price for this phone is about $100 more than it should be. Maybe once the Pixel 8 series comes out will make more sense but right now, it's too early to buy this at full retail. Overall: - Solid phone. Could be a little more compact but really happy with it so far!

Overall a solid phone. Works as it should, has a nice camera, battery lasts me all day. Screen is nice. The back of the phone is plastic rather than glass like the 7 and 8 but I keep all my phones in a case at all times so I see that as a waste. Wireless charging was the bigger selling point for me for for a phone in this price range. I got this on sale for $375. I think if I had paid full price I would have been inclined to go with a pixel 7 or 8 but for the price I couldn't find a better phone.

I have been using the Pixel 7a for about 3 weeks now. I upgraded from the Pixel 6. In terms of what I think are the upgrades from the Pixel 6 would be the Camera, Signal Reception, and the Screen Size. I appreciate the slightly smaller screen as it can fit in my pocket easier than my previous phones. Phones seem to be getting bigger and it is a trend that I don't like. The pictures taken with this camera and the Google Camera Software, seem to be a little more realistic looking and I have noticed that the detail seems to be in a better range than my Pixel 6. The Pixel 6 took pictures that looked overly detailed and made people look older than they actually looked so that was something I never liked with my Pixel 6. The phone signal reception seems to be rock solid and much better than my Pixel 6. I was never able to maintain a 5G signal lock for any reasonable amount of time on my Pixel 6. It would consistently give me problems on my Pixel 6. I would use the LTE only option since 5g was so bad for my Pixel 6. The Pixel 7a seems to almost never loose 5g signal in the areas I live and drive too so that was an immediate improvement. The audio quality during calls between the two phones seem to be the same. It would be nice if Google upgrades that with their next phones. I have also noticed that my Pixel 7a does not get as warm as my Pixel 6 when used with 5g or if I'm using my phone screen for extended periods of time. The battery life is about the same between the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 7a for my daily usage. The biggest battery drain for me has been the "Phone Idle"....it usually drains 30% of my daily battery usage. All in all, I think it was a good upgrade for me and I'm glad it was $499 instead of the price for other flagship phones.

Coming from a pixel 3axl there are some good and not so good about this phone. 1 is a little bit smaller. The operating system is a little bit different so it's going to take some time to get used to not having the buttons on the bottom of the screen to go back a page or being up the background apps. The battery is good photos are amazing and phone seems to be allot faster than my old one.

Pixel 7a has one of the best camera in this price range. The phone has a high refresh rate and a pretty display upgraded from pixel 6a. The processor tensor 2 chip works very well. This phone works globally at any network very well. Plus, It's a stealing deal with 350 $ for this amazing phone.

As a long time Pixel user, i was very happy to see just how much Google was able to improve the Pixel line over the last couple years. With the introduction of wireless charging, a better camera and a very decent battery life, the Pixel 7a easily lasts me all day and then plus some. Theres not much else they can do to make it better as its already an amazing device. Would completely recommend you pick up the phone.

I'm a light user and bought this to replace my older LG phone. It appears well built, it was easy to set up and start using. I like the slightly smaller size than typical. I bought two because I like them so much. I gave it 4 stars because I broke my first one in a month, due to it being so slippery, and the camera jut-out putting it on an angle that caused the camera to slide under small vibrations. Ease of use is great, Photos are great. Fast.
