I got tired of crappy, cheap phones, but I'm sort of mired in the PC/Android environment, so I got this Pixel 8. I love it! Very easy to migrate from another Android device, nice size, and a great camera. I'm having fun learning about the camera now. Great night shots! Although it is Android, it is not exactly the same as many other products that run on the Android system, but it is well worth it! I'm very happy to have a nice phone, even though it cost a good bit more than the clunkers I used to use.

I purchased the Pixel 8 the day it came out. It was an upgrade from my Pixel 5. I must say it is an upgrade. The photos are absolutely wonderful! There is a difference when scrolling so it is smoother. Seamless. The fingerprint scanner I don't have an opinion on it. It's just what it is. It works well. I have only had the phone for a couple of weeks. The only opposition at this time is the messages. But I am not sure if it's the phone or my carrier. I am not able to receive them and hard to send. I keep running into an error. But time will tell what's happening. Other than that really great phone. Every phone has it's stumbles at first so you can't get upset.

Overall, there's nothing "wrong" with the phone. Coming from a 2 year old iPhone, the largest downside of the pixel is the CPU performance. I don't see how the tensor g3 is considered a flagship CPU, the performance is either even or worse than my old iPhone. Pixel also has VERY limited customization compared to other android phones out of the box, which means that to really customize you will have to leave the pixel launcher (which is a main selling point) and use a different launcher. My experience is that other launchers hinder performance slightly. The camera is good, I haven't done enough testing to reach a conclusive opinion but so far I haven't been blown away. Apps run much worse than iPhone generally. If you use snapchat regularly I wouldn't get this phone. Runs worse than my even older iPhone 11!! For the sale price of 550 I think this phone is a good option but nothing I've experienced leads me to believe that google made a flagship device. Overall I probably would get a different phone if I could go back but there's nothing too terrible with this one. Bio metrics are good when they work, the lighting requirements for reliable face unlock mean that you will have to get used to using the fingerprint sensor (which should have been an ultrasonic sensor) whenever there is less than direct lighting on your face. I'm just glad I didn't spend more money and get the same tensor g3 in the more expensive pro phone.

I upgraded from a Pixel 4A to this phone and really like this the Pixel 8. I had considered the 7A also, but with the support lasting until 2030 on the 8, I decided the extra cost was worth it. Huge improvement in the photo quality from the 4A which I thought was already very good. The build quality is also a big step up from my previous phone. Overall very happy with the purchase so far.

TERRIBLE BATTERY LIFE do not buy this phone

PR0 -- it is super easy to use. I came off a Pixel 6A and this was an easy transfer for me who is not tech savvy. CONS -- and this is a big con. It loses 2 stars because the battery life is just terrible. Just sleeping with it doing nothing on my side table for 8 hours it drains 15% just sitting there and there is nothing running in the background. Watching an hour of Hulu on wifi tanks 20% of the battery and 35% on 5G. This phone could so easily earn 5 stars but gosh, that battery. I regret this purchase but at $500, I will be stuck with it for at least 2 years. The other CON is the screen fingerprint. It makes the screen light up crazy bright in that area (battery wasting) and can leave a smudge. I much prefer a back print button or just non at all. I find myself swiping and putting in my passcode instead.
