Google Pixel 8 Pro
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had researched Pixel 8 Pro for over a month, when it was still $699 at Amazon & BestBuy. Then it shot up to over $900 when Pixel 9 Pro was released. Just about gave up but continued hunting and stumbled on an open box 8 Pro for $479.99. have always been skeptical about open box or refurbs but when I got this one I was was very pleasantly surprised. Looked it over physically.... Perfect. Been using it for a couple of weeks now and wouldn't be able to distinguish it from a new one.VERY PLEASED with this purchase.

Great phone!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the pixel 7 pro before and it was a no brainer to update to the pixel 8 pro with the great deal best buy had! The camera is great and takes some of the best pictures of my dog. It does seem to get a bit hot but not as much as the 7. I also definitely prefer the flat screen over the curved one.

A real gem for my wife
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this phone as a present for my wife. She does lot of her work online and prefers phone more than tab/ laptop. The screen is wide enough for her to not strain her eyes. The swipe speed is smooth and compared to pixel 3 she had before, the processing power is orders of magnitude better. Lots of memory and storage space which allows her not to worry about deleting stuff pretty often. Must say great upgrade from google. I think 8 prop is a real pro.

Perfect learning from past experiences
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a pixel-ate since launch of Pixel 6. I have had 6, 7 and now 8 Pro. First and the best improvement that I instantly realised is the camera. Whether it be clarity, or color, the camera captures everything very accurately. The telephoto lens is very much handy for distant objects. Gen AI features are very well trained and capture the details perfectly. Screen is bright, build is super comfortable to carry in hand and the button placement is very appropriate. Overall, I am very happy with this upgrade and would recommend everyone looking for a premium smartphone in this range.

Great phone
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've tried all the android phones, this is the best by far. It's a little on the heavy side, but acceptable. I was using an iPhone 15, I like the 8 Pro better.

Great phone, high-end quality, awesome for music
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to buy a high-end phone because budget phones don't last very long. Having had a Pixel 3a and 4a, I decided to try the Pixel 8 Pro because it has the best version of Android. Less cluttery but packed with all of the features. I like the tactile response with sound and vibration on the screen. The battery lasts long despite heavy daily use. Phone looks attractive with case because of how the camera layout is and how it's partially covered up. It's good for the features and apps I use and they aren't many, and so this review is short.

Great pixel phone. Never look back.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great cell phone. I've been enjoying the pixel series for a number of years and this is no exception. The telephoto camera is a marked improvement to the 7 pro - better in low light. I also enjoy the fact that the screen is flat and so regular screen protectors fit - the seven pro had a curved screen. I skipped over the pixel 9 pro this year and I'm looking forward to the pixel 10 next year!

Great smartphone, just weak as an actual phone.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone transitioning from the Apple ecosystem, this phone is a great start. A lot of the Google functionality focuses on increasing Quality of Life experiences, particularly Google's call screening, automatic music identifier on the Lock Screen, and the timing of many schedules it learns (i.e. giving me traffic info for when I'm about to leave for work). Yes, some of these are already available on the iPhone and technology is starting to catch up or there are workarounds. The same could be said for going to Google. So on to other things I liked. Navigating the phone is very similar to the iPhone with one definite extra feature: Typically on Apple apps, swiping from the left is the gesture to go back. This does NOT transfer across all apps such as games. However, on Android, the back swipe is universal, which can provide small yet noticeable convenience (consider how many apps have their "back" button placed somewhere else on the screen outside of thumb's reach). Anyway, focusing back on the Pixel. Camera: If you ever do one of those photo comparisons and find yourself thinking they all look good enough for social media like Instagram, then you'll be fine with the Pixel. They say the camera is great. Personally, I feel it's a bit grainy in darker areas. Note that this is after pulling it off the phone and viewing them on a computer monitor. This is likely the most objective way of crudely comparing photos taken on the iPhone vs Pixel. Yes, it's good. Pro level? Hmm... you'll get by fine. What makes this phone fun are the AI features (although if it can go to Google's servers for processing, then I would guess Samsung phones could do the same). System processing/power: On the Pixel, there's something causing a little bit of stuttering. Maybe it's the transition between 1Hz to 120 Hz. However, I notice it greatly when attempting to play Pokemon Go. It's most notable on Reddit and the Play Store as well. At times, it'll be nice and smooth. Then suddenly, it will stutter and lag for a bit. It does so at random times that you cannot anticipate to become desensitize to it. It's not something I would expect on an $800+ phone. I would expect this issue on a midrange or a used up flagship Samsung from 4 years ago... so it's jarring to have it smooth like a current flagship with random moments of stutters. All in all, I enjoyed the phone. However, I returned it primarily because of reception issues. I have T-Mobile and live in Southern California. I'm not in the center of any metro/urban areas, more in the suburbs like Norwalk, San Gabriel, Diamond Bar, La Jolla, etc... reception is weak and troublesome to acquire, even after assistance with T-Mobile to try reprovisioning the network. Could it have been that I received a lemon? Seems a little hard to believe considering everything else worked fine. It just wasn't doing its most basic function: being a phone. Maybe Google will also account for better hardware by the Pixel 10 but for now, this phone isn't working for me. If you can get reception to work for you and don't mind the stuttering, this phone should work great for you.
