Over the years I have owned several high and mid and android, and Apple smart phones. One of my favorites was the pixel two XL, which was not too expensive and had an excellent camera and excellent day-to-day function. When the pixels became more expensive, and the Apple phones finally improved their camera quality I switched back to iPhones as my primary line. For the last several years, I have had various android phones as a secondary or business line. The new pixel 8a is an excellent size and is priced in the upper mid range. When compared to $200 and $300 phones, the responsiveness is significantly better as is the consistency of response. One of the main advantages of the pixel devices was the lack of clutter and excellent integration of some of googles most advanced features. This includes several excellent pixel functions, including call assistant (an easy to use call screening and quick response feature. There are also several updated or longstanding easy to use Camera utilities, including photo blur and night site. The upgraded magic eraser function seems much cleaner as well as easier to use. The edited photos appear less compared to the earliest versions of the magic eraser. Best take is a new easy to use group photo editor which may allow you to shoot less and live more while still ending the day with good group photos. This pixel includes an amazing seven years of Operating system and security updates as well as feature update. While some of the feature drops are only used by a niche group others make every day life easier. Finally there are also several AI features including Gemini assistant and circle to search and handy selective image search. As always read the privacy policies and do your homework before going all in AI.

Having spent a few days with Google’s newest phone, the Pixel 8a, there’s a lot of things to like about this smart. Perhaps the best thing about this phone is that it is automatically unlocked, you can use it with any carrier at any time, no restrictions. Screen: The screen is beautiful, it features a 6.12 inch OLED with a refresh rate of 120Hz, very fast, very responsive very colorful, I don’t know what else I can possibly say about this phone in this area. Cameras: Front and back cameras 13megapixels I believe is what the front is and the rear is 64megapixels. It takes some really nice crisp photos. Some features the cameras have are: Magic Editor Best Take Photo Unblur Real Tone Face Unblur Panorama Manual white balancing Locked Folder Night Sight Top Shot Portrait Mode Portrait Light Motion Auto Focus Frequent Faces Dual exposure controls Live HDR+ Ultra HDR Long Exposure Astrophotography Super Res Zoom With the rear camera you can take 4K video recording at 30 FPS, 60 FPS or 1080p video recording at 30 FPS, 60 FPS Battery: So far the battery has lasted me all day, no complaints here. It also charges relatively quickly. Extras: It comes with all the bells and whistles that smart phones typically come with these days. Wireless charging capable, also comes with its USB-C charging cable (but the wall plug adaptor). it’s water resistant, and has 128GB of internal storage. It runs on android 14. And lastly: From what I understand, it comes with a nano Sim slot and its also eSim capable. Meaning connecting it to any carrier should be no problem.

As a longtime fan of Google smartphones, I was excited to get my hands on the new Google Pixel 8a. I’ve never owned one of the “a” series Pixels, so I was a little unsure what to expect. I’m happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised. TLDR: Excellent design, high quality build, beautiful bright 2000 nit OLED screen, with 7 years of software updates. Can’t complain about the camera or the fantastic battery life – a day of regular use was no problem. Problematic price point considering deals you can get on the Pixel 8. Wireless charging, even regular charging, are slower than I’d like. Value: At $499, the Pixel 8a is about $100 more than I wish it was. The Pixel flagship 8 is only a few hundred more for a fully loaded phone with none of the corners cut. If you’re picking this up with a deal, you can probably get it to a more justifiable price point. Design: The Pixel 8a sports a cool matte finish and feels nice in the hand. The form factor is great, and I love the general aesthetic. No complaints here. It’s not flashy, but it’s elegant. I have it in the obsidian color and it’s a bit of a fingerprint magnet. I’ll be picking up a case soon so that won’t be a problem anymore! Camera: The camera improvements are minor compared to the 7a, the 64MP main camera still captures impressive shots. It comes with all of the software features you’d expect from a modern Pixel, including all of the AI glitter on top. The Tensor G3 is no joke. Night sight, Best Take, Photo Unblur, Super Res Zoom – it’s all here! Overall: I’ve been using the Pixel 8a for about a week. The 120Hz OLED display is crisp, the battery life is solid, and the phone just feels snappy. The charging speed is my second gripe and, although I’m not a fan of the slow speed, it hasn’t really become a problem for me in my day to day.

Picked up the phone today I’m not a noob to the pixel line I have owned all of them I’m a bit of a reviewer. The 8a in my opinion replaces the pixel 8 (unless you do a lot of low light photography) for me I’m mostly during the day or dusk timeframe both phones snap identical pictures of the black starlight nights perfectly trumping my galaxy s23 and 24 as they seem to over brighten the night sky. This G3 is actually as snappy as its big brother’s P8 pro as they use the same chip. My P7A last year was a bit watered down compared to my P7 however that’s not the case this year, the pixel 8a hit the sweet spot snag one I got the blue and it’s nice matte back no fingerprints! I’m not gonna rave on but it’s an awesome phone and is on par with our iPhone 15 pro max it’s got that “rich contrast “ type of photos that the iPhone has (not a specific setting just they way pics look) For an android I say it’s as close as you will ever find in camera quality to a 15 pro max nothing touches it Samsungs over saturation kills the pics lots of the time. But I say there close behind next year watch out new everything on galaxies..

I purchased this phone to replace a Pixel 5A. The 8A feels a bit smaller and seems easier to operate one-handed. The display is great and the adaptive screen brightness is usually about right. The phone itself is fast enough. It doesn't seem much faster than the 5A, though. The camera does a great job and the editing is easy. Phone calls sound good and others tell me that they can hear me loud and clear. Some of the AI features seemed intrusive at first, but I turned off what I didn't really need to use. I did switch the bottom of the screen back to the "3 button mode". It comes set up to press your finger on the bottom of the screen and pull up. That never worked for me. All it did was bring up the "circle and search" feature. That's a constant reminder I would like turn off. The biggest downside for me was getting rid of the finger sensor on the back of the phone and making it a touch screen button. I've set mine up three times and it still only works about 70% of the time. Also, the battery could last longer for sure. I'm not what you'd call a "power user", but I do use my phone to check emails and to stream music at work. I'm not getting through an entire day on one charge with this phone. Overall, it's not a bad mid-range phone. I'm not sure that I'd recommend it wholeheartedly, though.

Using it so far for a week I'm pleased with purchase. With a mix of browsing, gaming, watching videos, texting, and emailing seems like one should be able to get at least 10hours of usage without needing to charge battery. That should be plenty for most individuals for daily use. Transition of the initial setup from previous Pixel 4 was smooth as files, photos, and apps were copied over even wirelessly. There are initial system updates that take some time after starting you'll do and realize some of the newer camera AI features will need downloaded. Screen can definitely be very bright. Sound on the low end is very low which usually forces user to bump up to more middle of volume setting to hear. Phone doesn't get that warm with intense long usage. Appreciate the size not being a monster that so many phones are becoming and can still use one handed. Screen bezels are not slim, but are not an annoyance. Camera seems solid. Speakers are crisp for streaming music (realize what looks like a speaker on bottom left is not and is the microphone). Color of phone being Bay is a nice muted blue.

It has nearly everything the Pixel 8 has, but starts at $500 and often has extra discounts or trade-in allowances, making the phone 1-2 hundred cheaper. It the smaller form factor I'm looking for, and easily handles 1 day of heavy use, or 2 days of regular/light use. Phones like this have convinced me that is just not worth spending $1,000+ on a phone. The green color is a bit strange, I've yet to see it show up on a screen the way it looks in person. Unfortunately, none of the stores had the green one in stock so we just took a chance on it. Think of it as a spring/easter light green and you'll be in the right ballpark.

The picture on my monitor is pretty accurate to what you see in person.

Overall this is a solid phone, but after getting a chance to use it for a few weeks I likely would return it and wait for the next pixel release if I didn't already trade in my 6a. It is very similar to the 6a in terms of experience. Camera seems great and I'm looking forward to the extended support from previous iterations of pixels. I think the screen is a step down from the 6a in terms of responsiveness (occasionally clicks will not register in games where i have tap quickly or on small locations) and the fingerprint reader (its not as accurate as the 6a was and i frequently have to use the code). The AI features don't particularly interest me at this point.

First off the phone feels great the color is just right. The phone feels good to hands and doesnt feel too big at all. The touch screen works perfectly and that 120hz refresh rate does wonders even though you have to go in the settings and turn it on. The set up was easy although it took a while as it was ios to android . The phone has many features which are found on much higher end phones . The camera does take excellent photos . I have not suffered any lag issues . Only ever felt slow when it was first set up . Other than that its been great.

This is one of the best Android phones I have ever used. I am used to buying flagships, but with this possessing the same chip as the Pixel 8 Pro and the amazing green color I had to give it a shot. All I can say: WOW! Lightning fast, decent battery life, amazing camera. And did I mention that it is LIGHT? Not a brick like a lot of the solid glass phones on the market. The back has the nice soft touch feel like the glass on the back of the 8 Pro, but it's plastic so you don't have to worry about it breaking. All in all, highly recommended.

This was purchased to replace my wife's Pixel 4a. Towards the end the battery required frequent charging. She is overjoyed with this phone. Overall it was an easy transition to the Pixel 8. She is very appreciative of the battery life and the new processor. This is the fourth unlocked phone we have purchased from Best Buy. They will be our first stop when it is time to replace the next phone. The staff in the Paducah Kentucky store were very pleasant and helpful.

Upgraded from 6a. Still had years of support on that phone, but certain games where lagging and chopping just a little. So with Best Buy offering a 50 gift card, 125 for trading in my 6a and a payment plan, I upgraded to the 8a and am very very happy that I did, it is more than I was looking for and I have 7 years of support to grow tired of it! Best Buy will mote than likely have a great deal ready for me then just like now.

If you have a Google account you should get a Google phone. Everything is stored in the cloud, and easily accessible between your devices through your Gmail. These phones are awesome as well, photo processing is unbeatable and so is the price. I'm very impressed that a $500 phone takes better pictures than most flagship devices like Apple and Samsung. 5 out of 5 would recommend

Last week I picked up the Pixel 7A. Amazing phone but the battery would die fast, traded it in for the 8a as soon as I heard about it and I'm not disappointed one bit. Probably the best budget smartphone you can buy right now. Phone is shaped like SpongeBob.

Pixel8a is everything that I expected. As a long-term iPhone user, I wanted to experience the latest Android features. I enjoy using native Google Apps. The responsiveness is not premium but it is good enough for the price. Hardware quality is solid. It can be slippery without a case. The font size is a little tricky. The larger font does not display well in some of apps that I use.

This phone is amazing for the price. I really like how it feels in the hand. Great build quality for the price. I love the camera and the 120 Hz display. So much. Buy it now. Or later. Probably will go on sale at some point. My only complaint is that 256GB should be the base storage. It's great that it's only $60 extra instead of $100 but it's 2024. Lots of budget phones come with 256GB these days.

This Pixel 8a works really well. It has a nice display, good battery life, and features that make it an overall great phone for the price. I previously had phones made by Apple and Samsung, and am still happy with what this mid-tier phone offers. I'm currently using on AT&T postpaid service with no complaints. One negative is that the phone charges slowly compared to what I'm familiar with.
