The first is that Google provides seven years of system and security upgrades. That is priceless to any user, most phones develop irritating glitches when their android version is outdated and require an alternative app to do the security lifting.
The second is the camera, Pixels have long been thought to provide the best quality. I have found this one excellent for me. It produces colors that are the same as the ones I see visually, and it has very high definition.
In other respects it performs much like other phones, but the processor is very quick and 128 GB storage is ample for me, though other users might prefer more. Since Android is a Google product (like the Pixel) I feel assured that all the moving parts will play well together.

Amazing Camera and Features!

I recently got the Google Pixel 9 and I'm impressed with its camera features and customization. I've been an iPhone user for a long time, so I never considered an Android phone. The Google Pixel 9 feels nice in hand, but it's a bit slippery and I've dropped it a few times, causing some scratches on the screen. It's lightweight and easy to handle and has a 6.3-inch screen, which is a good size.
There are 4 colors available, and I think they all look great, especially the Peony version.
The camera is probably my favorite thing about this phone. The photo and video quality is stunning, and I love the various editing options. The "add me" feature is great for group photos, allowing you to add yourself into the shot. The Magic Editor is perfect for content creators, and the Audio Magic Eraser is fantastic for reducing background noise in busy places like restaurants or concerts. These features are all built into the camera app, so there's no need to download extra apps.
Gemini is another great tool on this phone that makes life easier. It responds to specific requests, helps find and respond to emails, and can open apps for you. There's a paid version called Gemini Advance, which costs $20 a month and offers more capabilities. It's not essential, but I decided to try it since it comes with a free month. I don't usually use these types of apps, but I thought I'd give it a try.
The Pixel Screenshot feature organizes all your screenshots, making it easy to search for them using keywords.
The phone's screen is incredible, with vibrant colors and clarity. I use my phone for watching videos, movies, and social media, and the audio quality is loud and clear.
Overall, this is an amazing phone and definitely worth the price. If you're a content creator who needs a great camera and editing options on the go, I highly recommend it.

The Google Pixel is Back with a vengeance

First things first, I really like Google's Pixel 9 series. The device feels and looks premium. The Pixel 9 is a really well constructed peice of hardware. There is alot of talk about the other versions of the Pixel 9, but I really think this version is the best if them all. It comes with a attractive price and feature set, that makes a case to be had for all to consider.
The Pixel 9 can fit almost anywhere as the display is a 6.3" display with a peak brightness of 2700 nits. Perfect for viewing outdoors while taking pics. I thought I would miss having the much larger screen as my other phones have, but the more I used the Pixel 9, the more comfortable I was using it. The premium build with both back and front having Gorilla Glass Vuctus 2. I feel like this is the most premium Pixel model ever that Google has constructed.
The AI features are really cool. I showed my family the add me feature and they were throughly impressed. We took a bunch of photos trying this neat feature out. Magic eraser, reimagine, and the other host of features is the reason many buy the Pixel. The phones is really responsive, and I didn't notice any considerable lag while using the device.
Being able to press the power button which activates Gemini and ask anything is really cool. Google's AI features are the best in the business right now. Over time, Google will always be at the front when it comes to AI. The selling point of the Pixel 9 is Gemini. If you are really into AI, then this phone would be a great option for you.
Hopefully they continue to raise the bar when it comes to adding new features and integrating Gemini into everyday devices. Overall I really like the Pixel 9. I love the 7 years of updates, and also the 12gbs of ram. Some things I think could be improved upon are:
128gb is the first storage option in 2024. Having only 128gbs today is a bummer. 256gbs to start, would have been ideal for a premium device like the Pixel 9.
Design. I thought Google didn't push any boundaries with choosing a design that sets them apart from other manufacturers. The Pixel 9 looks and feels alot like one if the major competitors in the market. I would have loved to see something innovative and fresh in the design language of the Pixel 9.
AI features are great, but real world usage may fall off longterm. Add me is probably my most favorite feature. Gemini being able to summarize anything and Reimagine is pretty cool. These features impress people when I show them off, but besides showing them, I really don't use them as much as I did in the beginning. Pixel Studio is a blast to use as well. I found myself trying all the features out when my Pixel first arrived. Now not so much.
I think Google really stepped their game up this year with the Pixel 9. With having 7 years worth of updates, a host of AI features, 12gb of Ram and the new Tensor G4 processor. The Pixel camera is always on par with the best phones in the industry. Gemini is advancing at swift pace to become the AI assistant everyone needs. This phone has alot of offer, I would just like to see more originality in future iterations of the Pixel lineups.

A decent smartphone that has a learning curve

The Google Pixel I think is a decent smartphone that has no bloatware of any kind, though I won't say as compared to the other brand of a smartphone of a different OS that I have (iPhone with IOS), it can be a learning curve being introduced to the Android OS, however there can be similarities with different twists when its commonly navigating the home screen, accessing settings, taking photos and video, switching between apps and so on.
I have taken photos so far with the smartphone which features a 50 megapixel main camera and what I like with the camera app is the feature of having the photo always level, to which we always want the photo at zero degrees; I haven't so far encountered or seen a setting for that for the iPhone's main camera app as I have looked as much of the settings as I can.
Going back to the Pixel, the Magic Editor is quite a feature I have read about, but will be needing some practice on moving objects, expanding, as I know what's great is the Add Me feature in group photos which the person taking the photo, can be in the group photo as well being added later and that places of a person in the group trades to take the other photo, which is convenient than having two pictures with the two different persons; its just one.
Video recording was briefly taken and seems to be on par and usual; much more to tinker settings and experiment with later on, but it feels common with the zooming in and out and so on.
Regarding the phone and dimensions and though this is a non pro size, its fits well and has quite some screen area as front facing camera is a dot.
I have used a nan sim card with ATT from a family members phone and it works well accepting the network, making calls, etc. I think Google can do a better job of the placement of the sim card tray; i is at the bottom which could be where the speakers and microphone are placed and the hole for the sim card ejection, is on the same area of the sim card slot but the adjacent/opposing microphone hole can be mistaken for the sim ejection hole to put in your sim ejecting tool or safety pin and it did however unfortunately happened with me for a split second of putting the tool in that microphone hole. Of course I was careful in time, but others may need to be aware about this. I think the sim card slot (if google pursues in next pixel models that support a sim card) should be on either side of the phone.
This phone will serve as an travel overseas phone and to use the country's service provider whenever we visit, and use it to make calls and surf the web, and use it as a tethered hotspot with our smartphones to make voip calls and also surf the web are our phones still are currently locked to our service provider at moment (and though our service provider has "international day passes", it more costly). But also it would be used to add a line to our account which we'd port our landline # soon since the old POTS will be phased out very shortly.

As someone who loved the Pixel 4 for many years, I skipped the 5 and officially left the Pixel fan club after the 6 came out due to its buggy performance.
Well I'm happy to say that the Pixel 9 has exceeded my expectations. Is it perfect? No, not at all, but after using the iPhone 15 Pro, Samsung S23+, S24 Ultra, and the Z fold 6, the software of this phone is a breath of fresh air. Everything just works and I don't have to deal with duplicate apps or OS stutter. Not only is the design of the phone gorgeous, but the software too. It's like having an iPhone that's actually fun to use.
I can't believe I'm saying this but Gemini has been so useful for recipe ideas, house chores, and school work. I absolutely love it compared to Siri, Bixby, or the old google assistant -- and they're improving it every day. I also love that it's integrated with all the platforms I use on a regular basis: on my laptop, on this phone, Google docs, Google Sheets, Google Home, Gmail , etc... The biggest issue with AI is the way its integrated. A ton of people can't find a decent use-case for it because developers clumsily stick it in places it doesn't belong. Trust me, this one "belongs" and doesn't get in your way.
It's not perfect... My CONs might be that some apps aren't great with the Tensor processor (and android in general). Social media is especially egregious. Snapchat compresses videos and photos so much that I feel embarrassed posting them. The filters are laggy and choppy. Zooming within the app is a mess.. The same could be said for instagram and all other social media. I really hope Google does something to motivate these developers more. It's such a shame to have a phone touted as one of the best at photography & social media -- only to have its apps hold it back.
There's also a considerable lag when attempting to pull up your photo library within these apps to post a pre-taken picture. I have to way about 7 seconds for things to load but it's only in IG and snapchat so seems like an app issue.
Lastly, the screen brightness calibration is poor. It gets plenty bright in direct sunlight but indoors the adaptive process is way to dim for my taste. No amount of resetting that seems to fix the issue. I really wish they'd up the baseline brightness a bit.

I’ve been using the Pixel 9 for 3 months now and I’m seriously impressed. The camera quality is outstanding, especially in low light — my photos have never looked better. The phone is super fast, smooth, and doesn’t overheat even with heavy use. Battery life easily lasts all day, and I love the clean Android experience. It feels premium in hand, and the AI features are genuinely helpful without being gimmicky.

Google Pixel 9 is amazing!
The Google Pixel 9 is truly impressive. The sleek and modern design stands out, and it feels just right in your hand—comfortable and premium. The software experience is smooth and intuitive, making everything run fast and efficiently. But the real star here is the camera. It consistently delivers stunning, vibrant photos with amazing detail, even in low light. Whether you're into photography or just want a reliable phone for everyday use, the Pixel 9 is a perfect choice. It’s a great all-around device! Pixel is definitely a quality android at a decent price. Pixel 9 is no exception but I did prefer the rectangular and slim profile of my Pixel 6. The Pixel 9 is slightly smaller with rounded edges and thicker as well.
Very minimalistic packaging.

This a great phone with great features. Starting with the setup, it was very easy. Just use your google account and it starts to retrieve your information. It also gives the option to connect your previous phone if its IOS or Android. I upgraded from an android. From the setup, it gives you plenty of options to customize your settings. Everything from the ring tone to the way the phone display looks. This phone is sim card ready or e-sim ready. I used the sim card from my previous phone. It connected with out any issues. Now the camera takes incredible pictures. It has a feature called "add me" this is great feature for taking pictures with your friends. First you take a picture of a friend leaving a space for yourself. After the picture is taken, give the camera to the friend and it guides you to add yourself to the previously taken picture. I took several pictures with this feature and sent it to my fiends. They were very impressed and asked how I did it. Overall, this phone is a great phone with all around customizations. Its a great value for the price. Its not the premium version of this line up but it doesn't disappoint.

Great little phone, quick and responsive with a good camera and up to date features.
Only thing I don't love with this model is it's pretty tiny. Going from a much larger screen to this one made it difficult to enjoy shows, games, YouTube etc although the resolution and clarity are amazing.
If you are used to a larger size of phone/screen then consider getting the Pixel 9 Pro XL which is a lot larger in size. At release the Pro XL cost an additional $400 or something so I couldn't quite justify the price difference there.
This phone also comes with Android 14 and can run Android 15 beta, so if you're looking for the latest OS version you'll find it here.

I've had a number of pixel and Google phones. The nexus , moto x4 pixel 5 and the 5a, the pixel 7 and now the pixel 9. There have always been improvement along with problems. The 9 is the same. Brighter screen , no light flash on finger print sensor, no heating problems so far. What I feel are issues: as with the 7 there are parts of the screen that seem unresponsive at times. Maybe the phone is just to slow to respond. A continuing issue is the fingerprint reader is still unreliable which is very aggravating. They refuse to go back to capacitive reader which is extremely reliable. The face detector only works in well lit aeas, and you have to wake it to work. I have also found android to be buggy. Speech recognition is about as reliable as the fingerprint reader, which I use all the time when texting. Their best model five was the pixel 5 which was the last pixel before they started with their own processor. The battery life is good but the camera is about average for a phone these days. I've had enough of giving Google a chance and moving on to another brand. Possibly Apple. At least you get better performance for your money and the face recognition is top notch. To me pixel phones aren't worth the money anymore, and that you don't get any value in them when you go to trade them.

Google really knocked it out if the park this year with the Pixel 9 (I think with the 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and mostly with the 9 Pro Fold)!
I got 2 of these Pixel 9s for my parents and only time will tell if they're great in the long term, but the feel in hand, general speed of the Tensor G4 in day to day use, and cameras make this a very compelling option for most people. The lack of a telephoto lens isn't too big of a deal for most, and I don't foresee it being so for my parents. I daily drive Android and iOS, and I've never been compelled to use the iPhone for anything over any Android phone I've owned short of shooting video. Google's flavor of Android (yes, they own it, but they still customize the heck out of it) is my personal favorite, and does without all of the Samsung redundant apps and over the top glitz (for instance).
The only reason I'd say anyone should upgrade to the Pro or Pro XL models over the standard 9 is if you need more camera options ("pro controls"), demand the best screen specs, and plan to use on board AI features (RAM bump). The Pro Fold is a whole different story that only intense tech enthusiasts and those with oodles of cash should be looking into.
Throw in the promotions Google was (and hopefully will again) running for trade in, especially for iPhones, and it's an easy sell!

The Google Pixel 9 excels in several key areas, with its camera quality standing out as a major highlight. Has some great AI and photography features, the Pixel 9 captures stunning images that match those of higher-end cameras. The details, color accuracy, and low-light performance are particularly impressive, making it a top choice for anyone look to take great photos with ease. Additionally, the device benefits from a clean and streamlined Android experience, with Google’s regular updates ensuring that it remains secure and up-to-date versus other brands that take forever for security updates.
However, one drawback of the Pixel 9 is its limited customization options. Unlike some other Android phones that allow extensive personalization of the user interface, the Pixel 9’s software experience is more rigid. While this may appeal to users who prefer simplicity and consistency, those who enjoy tailoring their device's appearance and functionality to their specific preferences might find it less flexible. However, you can still install launchers to customize the experience but does make it an additional step in making it your own.

Moved from an iPhone 12 to this phone and it is an upgrade in every way. Although the price for this phone seems a bit steep in comparison to what it offers it feels like a nice step up compared to Apple offerings for the same price. However compared to similar android offerings it seems to demand a premium despite not offering anything that differentiates it significantly. Wasn't too keen on moving to android but after using it for a couple weeks I've moved on from iOS. Keyboard is superior, battery and screen is better and the OS as a whole feels much more customizable. The phone itself has a great OLED screen with high refresh rates rather than the 60hz that Apple still uses... Cameras look phenomenal for pictures and the fingerprint scanner and face ID is great (although the face ID is lacking in comparison to Apple as theirs uses lasers that also work in the dark). The AI that is advertised does not really make a big difference for me in daily use although it can be a cool quirk for some things such as replacing backgrounds in photos.

Positives:
Great screen, snappy performance.
Decent battery life, but idle time battery consumption is not so great. I can see 5-8% battery drain overnight.
Decent camera. But too much AI focused features. They should just give the option to click natural unprocessed pictures.
Negatives:
Too much bloatware. Example Pixel watch companion app, google TV, google home, google one, keep, news, apps are all eating space and reducing battery life. Google should not bundle all these apps or give a method to just uninstall these apps.
