  • Manufacturing defect with Pixel 9 pro

    I have a Google Pixel 9 Pro phone, but a Wi-Fi calling defect applies to ALL Pixel 9 series phones. I purchased my phone on 4/18/25 with Android 15. Wi-Fi calling does NOT work on ALL Pixel 9 series phones. I was on a 1-hour call with Google support and they tried to get Wi-Fi calling to work, even putting the phone in "repair mode" at one point, but failed to get it to work. Wi-Fi calling is enabled and configured correctly. Some blogs indicated to try Wi-Fi calling in airplane mode while connected to the wireless network but this also failed...when I try to make a call in airplane mode I get the message "Turn off airplane mode or connect to a wireless network to make a call." I can successfully make Wi-Fi calls with my wife's iPhone while her phone is in airplane mode. Google confirmed there is indeed a Wi-Fi calling problem with ALL Pixel 9 series phones, and they are currently working on a software fix. No estimated time when this issue will be fixed or any other additional details were given. If this is a hardware issue that cannot be fixed with software then this phone is JUNK! Cellular service is limited at my home and work, thus I require Wi-Fi calling for clear phone calls. Wi-Fi calling also works great on my daughter's and wife's iPhone as well as my old Samsung galaxy S+ phone. We also use Wi-Fi calling when we travel to areas with poor cellular reception. This is a MAJOR problem in my view. I wish I had known about this problem before I bought this phone because I would not have purchased it. SHAME on Google for selling these phones without properly disclosing this defect to users and to retail stores.

    I had a Pixel 6 and I figured it was time to upgrade my phone so I looked at the pricing and compared different models of 5G phones. I found the Pixel 9 Pro w/ 256GB memory was a good purchase. Even though the price was more than I expected I was able to get the payment plan which allowed me to pay it off over a 24 month period.
