Pixel Slate: Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best device I've ever had. I have had it about a year now and it has been my daily driver the whole time. I am on it many hours a day and it never disappoints. I run a constant 150 tabs across 10 windows and over 2 desks and this thing is STILL fast and works better than ever! I know it's a lot, but I need to see all my work, school assignments, and college stuff. The pairing with my Google Pixel 4A is great and the data sync is super fast and effective! Easy 5 stars!

Laggy, crash-prone, expensive, heavy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like this device, and thought that ChromeOS might've matured enough by now (April 2020), especially with a Google flagship. Unfortunately, the Pixel Slate is was quite laggy, with window animations noticeably skipping frames and even simple Android apps choking. The experience on my Pixel 2 phone, several years old now, is much smoother. Worse, in the couple weeks I've had it, the device crashed several times. Most of the time it was an Android app that just exited with no warning or error message, but at least a few times the whole system rebooted. For a $800 device, it's just not very polished or stable. An old Thinkpad with similar specs would be much better value, with a better keyboard, stability, and performance. I was surprised at how much better Windows ran than ChromeOS, even using Bluestacks to emulate Android. The Android on ChromeOS experience was just sub-par and constantly crashing, rendering it all but unusable except as a novelty gimmick. Also couldn't get the USB-C to HDMI adapter to work, nor a 65W USB-C PD charger. Both worked fine with many other devices. All in all, would not recommend. If you're looking for a dual form factor laptop/tablet, the Surface series or Yoga Books are just better devices with fewer compromises. I really can't see a reason to get this device unless you specifically want a sub-par, unstable computer mixed with a heavy, sub-par tablet but with a beautiful screen.

Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First let me start by saying I am a die hard Google/android fan. Ive been invested into Google products since the Nexus one and forward. I have literally purchased every single thing they have put out. Ive been loyal for so long but this is the line even i have to draw. The price point is really just not even fair for what they are delivering down to the accessories. The keyboard cover has issues that it just shouldn't have for $200. Flimsy and floppy is really all I can say. The software was really laggy on my m3 model in tablet mode. Heartbreakingly laggy. The Pen felt like it should not cost anymore than $50, not $100. This is the first Google product i have ever returned. I genuinely felt like i over paid for it all. I love my pixel 3 but this was very disappointing.

Not Ready For Primetime
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very unfortunate that Google would release this too soon. This thing gets almost too hot to hold and no games will play smoothly due to the faulty Chrome OS. Get ready for a lot of returns Best buy. Amazon already stopped letting people review these, since they are quite defective and all being returned! It just doesn't make sense my pixelbook runs perfect with less power! What went wrong Google?

Chrome OS is not ready for business.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a user who hates Apple devices and loves his Pixel XL 2 phone and the Android environment. The user wanted a lightweight 12" non-Apple tablet. The Pixel Slate fit the bill for the user. The reviews said the Chrome Operating system (OS) was not ready for prime time. The reviews are correct. Unfortunately. The Chrome OS is not robust enough to allow users to utilize RemoteApps in a corporate environment. We have a hundreds of users using PCs, Apple and Android phones of all flavors connecting and successfully utilizing a variety of remote business applications. Occasionally the Chrome OS would connect. When Chrome could connect, the experience was terrible. Chrome's Remote Desktop is not a viable solution. Sad. Very sad. I hope to purchase a 12" Chrome Slate when and if Google can significantly update the Operating System. If Google cannot produce a Chrome OS any better than this, I am hesitant to step into a Waymo car from Google. March 03/07/2019

Failed Beta
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the M3 version with pen and keyboard from the Google store over the holiday during the sale. The display is stunning to behold. However, upon first use, I had issues with the slate randomly shutting down at the worst time along with failed touch inputs. After a few weeks of use, I noticed that there were several points on the display that were unable to detect input from the pen or from my finger. I went through a lengthy troubleshooting process with Google support staff, until they emailed me a return label and RMA instructions. Google has now had my device for over 2 weeks with no updates from support on the status of my replacement. Google is no longer responding to my requests for status. After having purchased thousands fo dollars worth of Google home and nest products, one would think they would treat a loyal customer better. Do yourself a favor and avoid this product.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While functioning loved the device but mine, like many others, was faulty leaving me with a 700 dollar paperweight after 14 months. Google does not do repairs for the slate and their authorized repair center ubreakifix can not repair the devices either leaving you with the potential of wasting your money after the 1yr warranty. Wish google wouldn't sell a device they no longer support but may be why the fire sale and price slash. Stay away
