Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Pixel Tablet's sound quality, battery life, ease of use, and the convenient charging dock. Many appreciate the tablet's screen size and design, although some find the price point high for the features offered. A common criticism centers around the 60Hz refresh rate, and some users express concerns about storage limitations and the responsiveness of the Google Assistant. Overall, the positive feedback on key features like audio and battery life outweighs the negative comments regarding price and refresh rate.

I have owned several tablets over the years all of them android except one with windows mobile. Sorry but no apple products for me thank you. This is easily the best one I've owned yet; though it's not quite perfect it is pretty close. It's also the most expensive. My other ones were mostly cheap models but were ok in their day. I was still using a couple of them that weren't that old yet but I think this one will be my go to tablet for awhile. I really like the speaker dock which makes a great stand as well as charging it. The sound is pretty good, a little better than the built in speakers but it's not stereo like the four speakers in the tablet so no separation. I wish they had made the dock sound a bit better. Some dual speakers with stereo (and maybe a subwoofer) would certainly help when listening to music. As is it's fine for casual listening but when I play music it makes me want to connect to my external bluetooth system. (are you listening Google?) They could make a nicer dock and make it available separately for picky users. Great as a hub for google home devices. Also works well with Pixel phone as well as other android phones. It's fast too with good battery life and pretty fast charging. No sd slot for adding memory but 128G built in should be enough for most users. They also sell a 256GB model for a bit more if you need it. A lot of great features which will likely get even better with time. Android fans will like it and it may even convert some apple users as well.

    Awesome for the money

I have been waiting for a Pure Android Tablet and this is it. Why a Pure Android Tablet, is because I had found using Samsung Tablets they just felt sluggish unless you buy from the S-Galaxy line, which costs much more than the Pixel Tablet which you also get a Speaker Dock included. Currently I use the Tablet as a dock for my smart devices. Because the tablet uses the Google Play store you don’t have to have Google Products to manage your smart home. The Tablet uses the same Processor that you can find in their flash ship phones and is snappy for a tablet of this price. Compared to other Android tablets at this price point, those tablets I had found only come with 3 to 4 GB of Ram where with the Pixel Tablet you Get 8GB. The screen is also vibrant at 500 knits of brightness from its QHD panel. I haven’t been able to find a keyboard case for the tablet, but pairing the Logitech keyboard and mouse to the tablet, I have been able to use it for notes and normal navigation through the tablet. Paired with the dock, the dock acts as a speaker and wireless charger for the tablet. I have the dock setup on my desk which allows me to keep taps on my smart home and I have been able to answer my front door for my daily packages I receive for work. Also having it next to my laptop while I work, I now use it for all my web conferences and managing work content through teams. This has been a great edition to my work flow and home. I do not see myself taking the device back.

A jack of all trades thats average in all areas

This is a hard review to write for a few reasons. While it doesn't really do anything wrong per se, there's a lot of weird design choices that really result in a jack of all trades but doesn't elevate the tablet experience in any particular way. For the setup, it's largely the same as it would be for any other pixel device so it's clean and simple. Surprisingly, the Pixel tablet does have a finger print scanner but instead of a screen-based fingerprint scanner it uses a scanner on the power button itself. This potentially could be useful if it wasn't such a frustrating experience to set up. The power button is a relatively narrow line and trying to adjust your finger position for it to continue scanning is an exercise in futility I quickly gave up. Once you get to the actual home screen, you're greeted with the typical home screen but optimized for a bigger screen. Some of the apps have been optimized to take advantage of the larger screen format and works good. I'm disappointed in a few areas, however. For one, I was hoping that since people may be more likely to watch videos on a larger screen that Google would actually fix HDR playback and automatically adjust the brightness when HDR starts but sadly that was a hope to far. Moving into the display itself, it's an LCD panel that rated for 500 nits. While it looks fine overall, it's disappointing to see that it's not an OLED panel and only has 8-bit color. Regarding the audio quality, there's a very weird speaker setup. The speaker seems to be in opposite positions on the tablet with the right speaker being in the upper right corner and the left speaker being in the lower left corner. I believe they may have been trying to get the stereo image to map over the whole tablet but it has the net effect of making the sound feel disjointed. The actual performance of the tablet is smooth and enjoyable thanks to the Tensor G2 processor so no surprises on this front. Getting to the showcase piece of hardware, the dock, it enables the hub mode functionality essentially turning it into a Google Nest Hub. The sound from the dock is a little too bass-y for my taste but it's clear and will likely satisfy everyone who uses it. I can see many people enjoying this as a central hub and controller for their smart home setup. In the end, it's hard to decide to decide whether to give this 3 stars or 4 stars. It doesn't have the best screen, the best audio, or the best processor which seems like a missed opportunity for the flagship google tablet. On the other hand, while it doesn't elevate the Android tablet experience it doesn't do anything to detract from it either and for most people the experience is good enough and will likely be an attractive price point for most people which is why I've settled on 4 stars.

I am amazed how google has created a tablet I actually can use in place of my phone. It's a mirror image of my pixel, but larger. It was super easy to setup, it's display is incredibly responsive and looks amazing. I love the way it connects to the speaker dock flawlessly everytime. I can't wait to get a case and screen protector so I can have this with me all of the time. It seemlessly connects to your google account, allowing messaging, meet and syncing absolutely drop dead easy. The sound of the tablet is so crisp and has enough volume with its four speakers to fill most rooms for listening and then the Speaker dock even amplifies it to another incredible level. I wish the speaker dock had the ability to transmit or recieve via bluetooth, but at this point it is not. Camers is the point where most android tablets don't measure up, with this pixel tablet that is not the case! It takes very crisp images and has all of the impecable features my pixel phone has. Nice job Google! This tablet is a must for pixel lovers and anyone looking for a tablet that will do it all!

Great tablet but not a Nest Hub Max replacement

Having been in the Google/Nest/Pixel ecosystem since the beginning, I can honestly say this is the best Android tablet that has been released to date. Setup was as simple as logging in and copying apps from my existing account. But the real star of the show here is how multiple people can have their accounts and apps on the tablet. All of your information and apps are locked to your profile only, so there's no privacy issues as long as you make sure to lock it before giving it to the next person. That makes this tablet perfect for a household because it can be shared, saving you money on multiple tablets. The overall feel of the tablet is lightweight and it has some texture on the back so it's not slippery. The bezels feel less intrusive than prior attempts by Google and are just big enough to give you something to hold onto comfortably. The speaker dock is a nice touch, although the sound is comparable to the smaller Nest Hub, which is fine for a small room or office but nothing amazing. The reason I was so excited about this when it was announced is I was hoping it would be a replacement for our Nest Hub Max. I remember when that came out I commented that if the screen would detach like a tablet and have the speaker as a base, it would be amazing. Unfortunately, the camera on the tablet can not be used as a Nest Security Cam when it's in dock mode. The speaker is also not as good as the Hub Max and unless the tablet is docked, the speaker has no ability to stream music or act as an assistant. I'd be willing to pay a little more for a better speaker and the ability to use it like the Hub Max when docked. If Google is reading this, maybe a Pixel Tablet Pro that accomplishes that? Overall, this tablet is great. Google hit a home run. Nest Hub functionality would be a grand slam. But I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an Android tablet, especially if you want something everyone in the house can use while keeping all your information compartmentalized.

Honestly the beginning wasn't good... Out of the box, the tablet was lagging and slow. After updating and full battery charging, then restarting, the tablet showed its true power. The Google Tensor is very capable and the Android runs smoothly and nicely with any app or game I've tried. Battery life is not very well under load but the stand charging speed is very good. I am using it to replace the old smart hub I have and I see what this one is intended for. You have it all but also portable. With Whatsapp linked on the Pixel Tablet, It makes it easier to chat on bigger screen. Video calls work well too. The front camera is more than enough. The back camera is on the average side. Good for scanning codes and taking occasional pictures. No noticed heat even when playing games like Asphalt or Roblox. All worked well. The screen resolution is good for anything you might need as bed side entertainment device. Reading news, chatting, Net surfing, or just anything... It integrates well with all house smart devices from door bell to camera and sound playing speakers. To not forget the thermostats... All that while having it mobile to be carried around. Who may want this? I'd say this Pixel Tablet is to mostly stay at home device. With proper Tablet case and screen protector, it could be indeed taken outdoor. Combined with its stand, the Pixel Tab offers a Chrome Casting possibility and more bass sound playing. The magnetic attach and de-attach is something that needs some training. I find out it is better to de-attach it by pulling it downward gently. And the same but in reverse to put it back on the stand. As with all Pixel family products, they all play well together with synchronization nearby sharing features. Also playing well with other Android devices in one good eco-system. For the price, it is indeed a good investment and a nice addition to your smart home controlling and monitoring. My kids laugh about it saying: Tesla should do the same for their dash screen. It would be nice to have more than one stand (for home rooms).

I bought this tablet because I also happen to have a Pixel phone and thought it would pair well with it. I like the idea that Google releases new features and updates to Pixel devices quickly, instead of waiting weeks/months for "other" Android devices. Tablet itself is pretty average, decent screen and performance. Sound from tablet speakers could be better. Speaker dock is very handy for charging. I don't use the home hub features so can't comment on that.

Well built, fast, great software. I always choose Pixel devices because I want the best possible support from Google but I also want an open Platform that I can install whatever I want on. The tablet delivered everything I hoped for. I don't use it for work, just entertainment and reading, especially when I travel. All of the apps run smoothly, including video conferencing. The new UI is ready to use.

    Google Assistant Getting Horrible

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this for my sister who has very limited use of one hand and no use on the other hand. I was hoping she could use her voice only to call up tv shows to watch. Google assistant might bring up the show but to give it any additional instruction results in chaos and frustration. If a TV show or movie does start playing using your voice but the volume is too high, the assistant won't hear you to turn the volume down no matter how much you yell. Maybe having mics on the front of the screen may solve that? Who knows. If I ask the assistant what time it is sometimes it will say it and sometimes it will show it on the screen in regular small font. It's not consistent. The time cannot be seen in small font from 4 feet away. I need the voice to actually say it all the time. And to find where you might be able to change anything you have to dig into various menus and I usually get nowhere. The hardware seems like a step in the right direction though. Don't get this though if you need it to watch anything streaming using only your voice. Maybe a smart Google TV from Sony or Samsung would be the better option.

Full disclosure I ordered this from the google store. I was so excited when this tablet, I have been a google fan since the nexus line. I set the tablet up and everything seemed great at first. But that changed with in a few hours. I knew going into this that the tablet would be no speed demon, but its slow to render basic things. Things like youtube music, certain websites and twitter. Not only that, but the chromecast function... is hit or miss...mostly a miss. When the tablet decides to work, its great. But the number of times I have had to restart the tablet is just plain awful. I love the included dock, but it does not make up for all the other flaws. Out of all the pixel products I have owned, this is easily the most disappointing
