I had used a range extender on my old one. Associate told me that the extenders cut speed. So I got two units and put one in the basement next to modem and the other on second floor. Excellent connection no matter where I am in the house. A very good feature is that you can turn the router light off from the app, so this way the room you put it in stays darker.
