Returned this. Not ready for giga fiber speeds

I had to move the units around several times to get a decent signal. They seem to care a lot about going through walls and such. I live in a 1200sqft 100 year old Victorian. Once I got a decent signal I ran some speed tests and they were very disappointing. I could barely get up to 40mbps download. I ran a wire to the center of the house and connected the wifi router that came with my internet service and could get btw 300-400mbps at the farthest point in my house. So wires won, mesh lost. Though the google wifi app was useful and setup was pretty easy. I have a feeling these will be great in a year or two. And probably perfectly fine for slower internet speeds. My tired 6 year old netgear wifi router while connected to slower (100/10mb) service beat the pants off this google mesh connected to my new gigafiber internet in every location that I tried. So I returned it and ran some cable.

Worry free wifi

As a result, I wanted to upgrade my 7 year old router. Picked up Google Wifi and I haven’t been disappointed. Works flawlessly so far and was super simple to set up. Provides great coverage all through my house, and has even extended my coverage to cover my yard as well. Very satisfied.
