Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the ease of use, excellent coverage, and straightforward setup of the Google Wifi AC1200 system. Many also praise the improved signal strength and extended range, resulting in better overall performance. While some users experienced connectivity challenges, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs these concerns. A few customers noted the system's higher price point.

I went on the advice of the best buy salesperson based on the square footage of my house. The bandwidth is still lacking for 2700 square feet with two google routers. I'll have to buy a 3rd to see if it is efficient.

    Excellent System

Whether you have an existing Wifi network setup or not, look no further than this system for excellent coverage, speed, and ease of use/setup. Google clearly thought through how people would need to interact with this system to set it up and monitor it - the management app is intuitive and very useful. As others have commented, the only caution would be to those who have complex configurations (i.e. needing Network Address translation, non-standard port rules, etc) - the app may not provide the familiar web-based administrative interface and capabilities - but I have not personally needed to use them.

    Not so great

Sounded great for the price but my modem is running at 150 MB and the Google Wi-fi at the modem runs at 25 MB. Called Google and basically they insist that I "must" put it in Bridge Mode if I don't want the slow speed. Bridge Mode requires you contact Google, get them to send you a link that allows you to run a diagnostic, run said diagnostic, contact you internet provider, have them contact Google to set up Bridge Mode, run another diagnostic and hope it works. If it is still slow they reverse it all and will send you the same product so you can try it all again, no returns after 14 days. Needless to say, not very user friendly.

This seemed to work well but does not work in older huge houses. When connected I could barely get a signal past 2 rooms. Not sure if that's a problem with this wifi system or the construction of the home.

It works great but sometimes it goes out and you have to reboot the whole system or do a factory reset and its just a pain. Should work from the first time not having to reset it 3 weeks after installing it

If you have a bigger house, spend more and go for the orbi which has more power and coverage. This in my house does not really assist that much. Wish best buy had told me that when I asked which one to buy.

Pros: Catchy Design. Easy to set up and maintain. Decent price compared to the competitor. Consistent network speed across the mesh**. Kids mode. Device priority. Quick mesh/network test. Controlled access to Guest and limiting. Cons: Occasionally experiencing lag. Google says 1 pod will cover 1300sq ft, but I need 3 to cover a 1500sq. ft area (considering walls around). ** Need more pod to have consistent speed throughout the house (i use 3 pods). Overall., a decent product from Google. Could have been made better. I am using this because I like the design and decent price for 3 pods, which can be used for later.

Wanted to do mesh wireless networking in our 2500 sq.ft home so that I have coverage everywhere. I installed the main one in the living room connected to the cable router and walked 20 ft over to the dinning room (no walls) and installed the second mesh WiFi but I could not get a strong signal, the first router works great, but setting the up the subsequent WiFi did not work. Returned and bought a Eero setup and it really works.

I purchased these three Wifi Dual Mesh Bands thinking the result would be different from the other devices I’ve used in the past but to no avail they didn’t live up to the hype. Not working Wifi inconsistent.

But not great. Used this as Wifi point for my existing google onhub and it gave me one more bar, for a grand total of two bars. Was hoping for a little more given the cost of these units.

After the initial setup I tried to change the LAN IP, DHCP reservations, and Port Forwarding. After DOZENS of attempts NOT A SINGLE SETTING SAVED! I could not even get the app to show me the password for the network, which is one of its simpler functions! Five hours later and after talking to Google techs for over an hour I learned one thing - that I STUMPED Google. They have no idea why it doesn't work and had no fix for me whatsoever. So I'm returning it. Then I learned that I should have done much better research since this device does NOT support dynamic DNS like DynDNS.org. This and its inability to save ANY settings makes it of no use to me. I don't know if it's the internet provider (CenturyLink) or as suggested by Google the Android app (?????? really????) that's to blame. I can't say. All I know is that unless you want a router you can just drop in place and it works without any ability to do anything else, do not buy this.

The only reason I am giving it a 2 star is because of Google's Wifi Support team. One of the other Google Wifi routers I have purchased stopped working after just six months, and the issue with it was the power cable. Their support team is absolutely horrible, and its been two weeks and last I heard is it is still under process. In fact, one of the reps, tried to tell me since I bought it from best buy they can't help me/replace the product. I have let Google know my concerns through Twitter, although someone reached out to me. But they are not any better than their support team.

lan and management does not work without internet

If your modem goes down, or if your router doesnt get a correct IP or dns lease from the modem dhcp, or if for any other of about a million reasons you might not have internet connectivity, forget about figuring out why or using your lan, just reset everything and cross your fingers. Google will simplify your life by offlining your router, and not allowing you to manage the router or view network settings that might frustrate you until internet connectivity magically fixes itself... I want my money back, but It took longer than the return policy to figure out how dumb this things really is.

    Solid Wifi System

I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by the Google Wifi system. Setup was easy (must use the app to setup) and I had all three connectivity points up and running within 20 minutes. Within 45, I had assigned IPs to my major devices, had ports forwarded and external access working as expected. In testing the speeds as compared to my previous router, I am getting nearly double the download speeds. Its blazingly fast. The connectivity points are small and unobtrusive and you can adjust the brightness of the LED light if you need to. There are a few things that could be improved (and hopefully Google will do so with firmware updates). 1) You can't adjust the IP addresses being assigned to devices. Meaning you will have 192.168.86.?? for your devices. You can't adjust the address. 2) Devices are sometimes slow to switch to the closest connectivity point giving the best connection. If I am in one room with a connectivity point and I'm connected to that point then switch rooms with another connectivity point, it may take 10+ minutes for my device to connect to the closest point. 3) It would be nice to be able to access the routers via a web browser instead of just the app. All of these are minor issues that I expect will be improved with future updates. Overall, a very solid mesh wifi system. Highly recommend.

These would be great for a smaller home but my home is evidently to large for these to work effectively and the speed was not great. I wound up returning them and purchasing a different product.

If you use any smart doorbells or cameras , this is not for you , because they jump around to the best wifi , it messes with the signal and Nest told me not to use these , use a regular router
