Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the ease of use, excellent coverage, and straightforward setup of the Google Wifi AC1200 system. Many also praise the improved signal strength and extended range, resulting in better overall performance. While some users experienced connectivity challenges, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs these concerns. A few customers noted the system's higher price point.

This review is for the 3-pack Google wifi. I have been using it for a week now and it replaced my router completely. Each unit looks like a elongated hockey puck. Setup was fairly easy. You need to have a Google account and the Google Wi-Fi app for the setup though. There is no website and not many options to configure like a traditional router. The light in the middle of the device tells you the status whether it is in setup mode (blue) or in connected mode (white). The device has a power input and two Ethernet ports. You need to use one of the Ethernet port to connect to the modem. The other port can be used for a switch to expand the ports. One good part about the combo pack is that only one is needed to be connected to the modem. There could be some signal loss between the devices if you keep it too far. But this can be avoided by connecting the units together using ethernet cable. The device supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands and the connection is reliable between the devices. I have setup the 3 devices spread around for maximum coverage. A mesh network is created around the house and as you move, your device will connect to the closest and strongest access point. I was able to connect all my 11 devices (Xbox One, PS3, Phones, PC, etc.) easily. The connection and data transfer speeds are pretty strong. I never had a mesh Wi-Fi system before and it seems to be working great so far. Definitely would recommend it for anyone who needs such a setup.

I was doing some heavy movie streaming and I wasn't overly impressed with the performance, but still better than my traditional wifi.

We purchased this system and 14 months later it’s not lost it’s speed. We have business internet in our home for our company and the internet speed runs between 700-900. Our WiFi is showing test speeds of 70-85. We have done the factory reset twice and nothing will fix it. We are out of warranty and we will not purchase another mesh system.

Amazing!! Changed my whole WiFI experience!!

I live in Manhattan, in a building that was built in 1900. This means that I have brick walls, plaster walls and a HUGE 3 bedroom apartment by NYC standards. Actually, by any standard. It also means that I have all of my neighbors in super-close proximity with their Wifi networks competing for speed an open channel. For years, I struggled with using Wifi, and about 5 years ago I purchased a Netgear range extender. This did help a bit, as I was able to get Wifi to reach my bedroom – which is 4 rooms away from the router and three rooms away from the extender. Unfortunately, I would still experience issues with buffering and at least a few times per week I would have to reset the router, modem and range extender. What a pain in the neck! I pay Time Warner Cable/Spectrum for 300 mbps internet service. I’ve done speedtests (through apps you can download onto your phone) and I came nowhere close to that speed. I recently have been on a quest to drop my cable service and cut the cord. I looked into IPTV service and I purchased a few devices to stream through, however, they all recommend having an Ethernet connection for best results (better picture, not buffering etc.). This is a huge problem for me, because the router is in the front of my house and I have devices in each room, and my only choice was to connect via Wifi and that led to a horrible connection. I just figured I was doomed to eternally bad Wifi – until now. Coverage - Google Wifi has changed it all. I have now 3 different Google devices spread across my apartment, and I am enveloped in amazing Wifi coverage! The best thing is, that since I placed each of these devices next to my tv, Nvidia shiled etc, I can now hardwire each of them for even better speed to these devices. In the room that is closest to the main device – I had 343 mbps download speed! I only pay for 300! In the room next to that one – I have 191 mbps – not hardwired to the device…yet. It will be even faster when plugged in! 4k resolution? According to the test, it’s good enough for 8k! I didn’t even know that existed! In the very last room (my bedroom that suffered with horrible wifi ) – I have 55 mbps! This thing is simply amazing. Setup – Even a child can do this. I’m usually one of those people that buys something and can never get it to work, not with this badboy. Download the app, plug in the first router and it will walk you through the rest. I had all 3 setup in ten minutes! The app even lets you control the light on the Google routers, what device should be given priority etc Cons – The only downside is that the router only has two Ethernet ports. Some people (like me) need a few more. But, to me, this in no way is a deal breaker. I highly recommend this device for those poor souls that have been struggling for Wifi for years. I have also attached a few pictures to this review so that you can see the actual speed tests.

Our router was fine for a while, then it just didn't connect anymore. We tried calling google but no answer (multiple times on different occasions) and followed all of the steps on the app and troubleshooting info. Eventually, the blue light stopped coming on at all. Don't buy these, spend the extra few dollars and get a good mesh like the Orbi. This mesh network sucked.
