Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the ease of use, excellent coverage, and straightforward setup of the Google Wifi AC1200 system. Many also praise the improved signal strength and extended range, resulting in better overall performance. While some users experienced connectivity challenges, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs these concerns. A few customers noted the system's higher price point.

    Don't Buy!

On 2/23 there was an outage which Google acknowledged. Since that date it hasn't worked. Google support has not helped at all. Their 12 month guarantee does not give you a refund from Google if you don't buy it from the Google Store. It is outside of Best Buy's return window since I've owned it for 3 months. Also, to replace the hardware they make you buy it again and wait for the package with standard 5-7 day shipping. A replacement didn't work either. Worst customer service ever with no resolution as of yet!

for monitoring and limiting teens device time

It served its purpose until a geek teen finds it out and can easily manipulate the device. A good modem/router with parental control will still work best.

    Poor Advanced Networking..

The normal user won't experience any problems most likely but this by default does double NAT'ing with your home router. I was seeing 2~5 seconds lag when trying to open up "google.com" through the mesh network and you can enable bridging but it disables the mesh network effectively making this a single AP and unable to extend using the current software. I wanted to love this but I will not accept poor networking capiabilities and returning this and going back to my previous AP.

We recently moved into a larger house and our kids are still young so we thought we would give this a try. It only caused us to have more problems with our wifi. I spend a lot of time doing research and I often see people writing reviews when it's clear they did not install it correctly, this is not that case. I have spent a lot of time researching and trying different things.... big waste of time and money. Do not purchase!

This home WiFi system is very easy to setup and use. But it is absolutely terrible at keeping you and your network secure. From a cyber security stand point. This system has little to no setting for internet security. You can’t open ports for the entire network, it’s per device. Additionally, there are NO firewall settings. I highly recommend you don’t buy this system.

This is what I would consider altered Wi-Fi. There are a number of restrictions and using this type of system. And honestly the more third-party devices that reside on the Wi-Fi network, Wi-Fi should be a standard. Not a modified standard. And that’s what Google Wifi is. There are already a list of devices that are not compatible with Google Wifi. If it was true Wi-Fi there would be no such list.

This router is fairly easy to setup if it works right. The mesh isn’t as robust as I thought. Couldn’t handle Sonos speakers.
