Customers are saying
Customers frequently mention the ease of use, excellent coverage, and straightforward setup of the Google Wifi AC1200 system. Many also praise the improved signal strength and extended range, resulting in better overall performance. While some users experienced connectivity challenges, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs these concerns. A few customers noted the system's higher price point.

Absolutely worth it for us
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Keep in mind that your mileage may vary... I hate messing with routers. I used to be computer hobbyist, but now I just want things to work with the least hassle. Google WiFi set up is quick and easy and the performance is much, much better than our outdated Apple router. Bandwidth is improved everywhere (except within tens of feet of the router, where it is not impacted) and coverage is great compared to the Apple+extender. In the location that had the worst performance before Google WiFi, we get about 3x or up to 4x the bandwidth on mobile devices and anywhere from 2x to 3x on my laptop. And we have not lost connection, which happened before - sometimes only a few seconds - but multiple times every day. For us, the purchase was well worth it and the Best Buy price was as good as anywhere else.

Works great in wide house
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Original problem with wifi connectivity while streaming movies brought me to Best Buy to decide on a mesh system or extenders. BB guy said google wifi mesh would work better because extender cut the speed with every extension (which is how our router seemed to be originally working anyway). Another lady and I were there for the same reason and pummelled the BB guy with questions about distances, security systems (up to 50 devices, I think he said), gaming, moving one to an out building (up to 300', he said).... This seemed to cover our issues. And he said that we had 2 weeks to return it if it didn't work, with box opened and returning them in original box. Although the google app's description of how to set it up was not clear, at all. I chatted/texted online with a google app person to get me hooked up. The salesperson at Best Buy told me that since I have Comcast, and a router from them, they would need to turn off the wifi portion on their router, because it would interfere. I called Comcast, and even though the Comcast guy disagreed with me, and had never heard of this, he turned it off. The router itself stays on! He said I could turn it back on online through my portal as well, if it didn't work. (In other words, I personally could have turned it off as well through the online portal.) BB guy said we could keep in cabinet if desired with no issues, but I read that the light can be dimmed on them if wanted. I have a 4200 sq ft ranch over 4200 sq ft basement. The router is in the basement on the far left of the house. I bought the pkg of 3. I have 1 plugged into the Comcast router in a cat45 port. The second is upstairs above it on the far left wall as well ("great connection" per app). The third is in the kitchen in the middle of the house, and it said it had "good," but not great connection. The far right side of the house bedroom gets 4/4 bars of connectivity from it though. I tried placing it there (far right bedroom) to begin with, but it said it had "poor" connectivity. I believe that if I strung a long cat45 cable from the router to mid basement (mid-house) and put the first unit there, it may be even better house-wide; but we've had no problems yet. Will update when we try to stream our first movie. The printer via wifi works better than before; and I have zero speed problems. My phone's wifi connectivity was slow shortly after I hooked it up, but I have no problems now with speed. Maybe it needed time to acclimate?? We have a 2.4 and 5 speed connectivity coming into the house with Comcast, and they seem to be working through this new mesh system as they are supposed to. I would highly recommend.

Not a significant boost
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disappointed. Doesn’t solve my Wifi challenges. Followed instructions precisely —-and apples to apples...it didn’t perform any better than my existing router and WiFi set up. The goal was to boost the signal in different areas of the house. Failed to do it any better than cheaper options.

Super!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have 4500 sq ft house...been fighting wifi issues for years. Was about to pull the plug on Eero, but saw this coming in $200 less. Received today, took about 15 min to set up (mostly unpacking), spread out in three random places, and have full strong wifi in whole house, could not find a spot where I don't get full bars. Can't compare it to Eero, but I am very impressed with the Google wifi, and glad I saved $200.

Wi-fi coverage for 3 floors
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received the Google Wifi Ac1200 Dual-band Whole Home Wi-fi System (3-pack) in the mail and I waited several days before hooking it up until I had several hours at my disposal. I was thinking that I would need lots of uninterrupted time to set it up, troubleshoot, etc. At least that is what I anticipated after setting up our Samsung Home Theater system. I couldn't have been more wrong. It was as easy as 1..2..2 1/2..3. The directions were simple: plug in the first Wifi point and connect it to the modem. Then download the Google Wifi app to set up the other 2 Wifi points. I had to redo the set-up via the app a couple of times. I changed my wireless network connection name and that caused all my wireless connections to have to be redone (cell phone, ipod, home theater, etc). The app will let you know if the Wifi points are well-placed or if they need to be moved. That helps to maximize the network accessibility (eliminating pockets of poor connections), especially when you live in a larger house with multiple floors. I got a couple of messages from the app that evening letting me know that everything was working. I was glad to get good marks for my connection speed when I tested that. I like that I can see all the devices that are logged into the Wifi network. Clicking through the app, I was glad to see that I can set up a guest Wifi network. That means friends and family can get online. Family Wifi allows me (the administrator) to pause the internet to a specific device or group of devices. For example, I can turn off access at dinner time so everyone pays attention to those at the table and aren't secretly surfing. Also a benefit when a child is grounded or it is bedtime. I can adjust the brightness of the Wifi point light. Very handy when it is in a bedroom at night. An aspect I really liked is being able to adjust the settings while I am not even at home. For example, I can restart my network, pause a device, and manage my Wifi while I am not at home. How great when you have latchkey children. The last things to mention is Google Home, the voice-activated speaker and home assistant (think of the amazon Echo) can easily be added. I don't have plans to add it at this time, but I like that I have the opportunity to expand very easily. So why did I give it a 4 out of 5 if there are so many elements that I like? First of all, I would have given it a 4.5 but that wasn't possible. When I was upstairs in the room where one of the Wifi points is housed, I noticed the light was not on. It was then I realized it was unplugged. That is what I would have expected the app to send me a message about.
