Google Mesh - EXCELLENT WiFi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t usually care to spend time typing out my experience with tech products (especially since most of my favorite products are from Apple and it seems redundant to praise what they praise in their own marketing!). That said, a friend of mine posted a VLOG about his experience with the Google Mesh WiFi network and perked my interest. We had been having subpar WiFi at the church where I pastor, so I decided it may be a good time to give the mesh option a try (especially since I’m hoping to cover the entire campus w/ Wifi). After setting up the initial WiFi location, I did a quick speed test and saw an exponential increase in speed. Since speeds prior had been so low, I can’t say exactly how much it increased, but I did do an additional “home test”, to get data for myself. Since we purchased the 3 pack - Google Mesh AND and additional port, but I had only installed the initial three, I checked the functionality at home. BEFORE adding the Google port, I did a speed test and it showed 73mbps on my 100mbps internet account. *This speed was using a BELKIN Nighthawk router that was intended for gaming and multiple users. Previously, I’ve just assumed much lower bandwidth test speeds as being the price paid for WiFi, instead of hardwiring all computers/devices. After adding the Google access port, to my existing Surfboard modem, I retested and found it to be 117mbps!!! YES, you read that correct, almost a 40% increase in bandwidth! ( I suspect it to be much more at the church, since one of the last tests I did could barely produce 20 mbps and it is now seeing the same 111 to 117mbps wireless speed, within the Google Mesh network) In addition to the obvious speed improvement, the mesh network allows extension of your network coverage, while maintaining bandwidth. The Google setup allows one to simply add additional ports to the network to expand the coverage area. * (Note: I think Google suggests no more than 6 unfits on a network, but that covers a significant amount of squa;re footage!) After connecting the single port, at home, I strongly recommend investigating this option to anyone who is seeing less than optimum speeds via their WiFi router! (Apparently, 25-40% + slower speeds on WiFi, does NOT have to be “the norm”)

Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The installation and user friendliness of the app make setting this up a breeze for literally anyone. The speed consistently transmits at the highest available speed which is usually around 125mbps on all 8 of the devices I have connected simultaneously. Two Fire TV Sticks, two laptops, one tablet, two smartphones, one printer and one echo dot... Don't count the printer in there since it is idle around 30mbps usually. Really the best wireless router I've ever owned by far and I've had the so called "latest and greatest" ones most of the past ten years.

Good but serious shortcomings for advanced network
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup of 3 wifi points was relatively painless and I found my apple devices to have very good connectivity throughout my whole house. I did find that the allowable distance between the wifi points in my house was less than what I expected. The documentation says that they should be no more than two rooms apart. The units were within two rooms but maybe my rooms are bigger than normal or my walls block more signal than normal. I have an established network with IP cameras, gaming devices, storage devices and smart TV's, phones, tablets and laptops with many fixed IP addresses and port forwarding configurations. Whenever I have changed routers before, I simply configured the new router with the same IP address range as the old router and set up the port forwarding and I was back in business with minor device rebooting sometimes. The major problem that I ran into with Google Wi-Fi is that you can not change the LAN IP address. It is hard configured to 192.168.86.x. This is a serious limitation that would make it very painful to convert my network over completely to the Google Wi-Fi mesh. I mechanism for setting up static IP addresses on your LAN also appears to be awkward. You need to connect the device to the network and then pick it from a list in the app to tell Google Wi-Fi to reserve it. Finally, the Google Wi-Fi app only runs on phones. I found that managing my network only from my phone was less than ideal. Bottom line is that it is more geared toward the novice user that needs better Wi-Fi coverage in their house. Any advanced users with more than just basic Wi-Fi requirements will be disappointed.

Great! Love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just set this Google system up (got the 3 pack), and so far I’m loving it. Super easy to setup. Don’t own Google/Alphabet stock, but wish I did. Netgear totally aggravated me with their attempt to sell me a service package rather than just helping get my out of warranty not that old router to work again. This system was about the same price as their service package, and it will continue to update itself. Boo Netgear! :( Hooray for Google! :) Working great in our stone house, which is over 3000 sq ft. Wifi used to be spotty & slow. Not anymore.

Easiest installation ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was lucky to get a 3 pack on day 2 of this being on sale. Shipping was fast. I was hesitant that the setup would be difficult as there was just a small car that had 2 steps on it and said follow the app. It took about 6 minutes to have all 3 devices hooked up and running. The app is excellent and gives you lots of control and access to the router(s). The wifi signal is now consistent across all rooms of the house unlike with a repeater/extender and the speeds do not slow down

Best Wi-Fi router I ever had!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m Not a Person to Leave Reviews, But This Time I Had to do it. I’ve Been Fighting With The Wi-Fi in my House For Quite a While Actually For a Couple Years we Already Have Expensive Technicians Coming to Solve Our Problems But Unfortunately None of Those Guys Could fix it, This Time I Decide to Try Google Wifi And There Was a No-brainer Now I Have Three Points One on Each Floor of my House And I Can Reach Speed Over 100 Mbs all all the time, before I had on 1st floor where router is located speed of Max 30Mbs, 2nd Floor 4Mbs. I have OPTIMUM CABLEVISION ULTRA SPEED INTERNET.

For the backyard wifi enthusiast (literally)
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The google wifi system does what it sets out to do. I have a feeling that "mesh" systems like this, will in a few short years become the norm rather than the exception. To start, the setup was a breeze. Simply download the google wifi app - plug your first "station" (or as I like to call them - "pucks") into your router. The app will automatically sense that you have done this. You then continue setup by placing the remaining two "pucks" around your house. The app will tell you if these other two "pucks" are optimally placed (or not). And, that is the setup. Seriously. That's it. Performance - Full signal in every nook and inch of my house. Even the backyard. The signal is consistently 90-100% Speed - This is where i knocked off one star. In comparing to a competitor's AC network capable wireless unit which consistently achieves a steady 120+Mbs (read megaBITS a second), the google system achieves a steady 90Mbs. Never going above that. So knowing that I can get higher than that, I wonder what it is about the google system that causes the bottleneck? Certainly not an issue that would/should detract from using this product, not by any means. But for those that like to squeeze every bit of performance out of their internet connections - it may pose a minor problem. There also isn't that much to customize other than your network name. There is no ability to manually select a channel, or to disable the "N" radio - if you wanted to purely use AC. Other than that - if you don't mind those minor flaws and would simply like a strong, consistent signal throughout your house/business - GET THIS!

Solid connectivity with no issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 4000sf home and was struggling with a Netgear 1900 router and deadspots especially in the basement, and devices dropping connectivity. I enjoyed the ability of Netgear products to fine-tune settings, so I was apprehensive to switch to Google's simpler interface. But after a week of use I am so glad I switched. Coverage is excellent, I can stream online shows from the basement to the top floor. I have 12 Lifx bulbs and they all connect much better than they did on the Netgear. Setup was very easy via the app.

Great product except one thing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router system for a 3000 sqft home and it no doubt provides the coverage needed but no matter how I arrange the units I get a significant drop in bandwidth. The first unit connected directly to the modem of course gets the entire 300+ mbps but the other two drop significantly, anywhere from 49mb/s to 90mb/s . And again I have had them placed linear with no obstructions in the way and get the same results. I suppose if you have a bandwidth of about 100mb/s then this would be great or if you have majority of your wireless electronics centered near the first unit then this product will be fine. For those with higher bandwidths I highly recommend running speed tests and not the one that the app does because it only calculates for the primary unit. Other than speed issues the product has been reliable with strong signals.

Best performance for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 2,500 sq ft home with an office upstairs where the router sits and 2 play stations in the basement. All our TVs run using Wifi and we have 3 students using WiFi’s on laptops as well as a wireless printer and 2 work laptops. WiFi was great in the office and spotty in other areas before purchasing Google WiFi. Now set up as a web we get 162 Mbps in all areas of the house ... including the basement where I used to get 24 Mbps! Easy set up in 10 minutes using the app. Best purchase this year!

Wow. This has been an awesome purchase.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had a cable-provided wifi router and an extender. Two issues - didn't cover the whole house and would frequently drop. Bought this for Christmas via two salesman who came to a company holiday fare and it has changed our lives. Very easy to set up. Never seems to drop the signal. One connection for the whole house (as opposed to different names for extenders). App is simple and can test readily if any issues. All TVs and PCs get great wifi. Can't be more happy with a purchase and the Best Buy associates who helped me.

Consistent, fast connection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this for about a month now. The set-up was easy and the app did a great job walking me through each step. Once it was set up I ran a speed test and got 180 mbps which was three times faster than my best test with my previous router. I consistently get about 140 mbps in my house. We are a family of 5 in a decent sized house, so before this we had a lot of dropped coverage, resulting in general annoyance for everyone. I don't think I've heard one complaint about a dropped connection since this has been running.

Simple and Works
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy and simple setup/configuration - (approx. 15 min to configure) Increased range and solved dead spot issues in house. (appox 2000sqft - two worked fine in my situation but used the third just because and to increase range into yard for the summer) Increase in speed noted compared to old router. Finally closer to what I am paying for from my ISP. Family Wifi is a nice touch. Comes in handy when Kid is taking for ever to come to the dinner table. Overall google wifi works in my situation.

Wifi Speed Doubled
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must admit I was skeptical about paying 260 for this...but after reading the reviews I saw how much others loved it and decided to try it. It's the best purchase I have made in a while. I have a bunch of devices on wifi and this thing has DOUBLED my speed in every corner of the house. That is not an exageration. It was incredibly simple to setup and I was up and running within less than 10 minutes including the time for software updates. Very highly recommended.

Googlelicious!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy setup, more visibility to my network than ever before. I finally cut the chord from cable and this piece of equipment helped me seal the deal. I'm running a Netgear CDM 1000 modem with 3 Wifi points. Speed in all rooms I've tested are as good or better than my Xfinity combo box. Word to the wise if you have poor cellular connection in your home, download the app before you start setup. You can't do much without the app so get it done when you have a good connection.

Works great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took about 45 minutes to set up. Once I got 1st disc set up remainder went smooth. I didn't realize how many devices I really had in the house until I downloaded the app. Fun to check when the family comes over and I see I have about 30 devices on my network. Coverage is much better, I have solid wi-fi all the way to my property lines. I have full advertised speed in all corners of the house. Nice to see the price has dropped a little. Highly recommended

Absolutely perfect !!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My home is a rancher/split-level combo so it is very wide. Verizon put the Gigabit router in one end of the house so I had absolutely no Wifi at the other end. I researched many different options before settling on the Google Wifi home system. Setup was an absolute breeze; no more than 5 minutes. This system works absolutely as advertised and the mesh network provides excellent Wifi coverage to the previous dead zones. I highly recommend this product.

Definitely worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wasn't getting consistent speeds, Now I am and then sum. I have Comcast blast plan, which they recently upped my speed from 75mbps (which I never got) to 100mbps at no extra cost. Now I'm getting 115mbps throughout my house. Which is about 1400sqft. Smaller house with a lot of turns an concrete walls, bathroom piping etc. Excellent coverage throughout the entire house. Really only needs 2 nods for the size
