Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the ease of use, excellent coverage, and straightforward setup of the Google Wifi AC1200 system. Many also praise the improved signal strength and extended range, resulting in better overall performance. While some users experienced connectivity challenges, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs these concerns. A few customers noted the system's higher price point.

I was originally considering Linksys Velop, but two Best Buy associates told me that this system costs less, and would do just as much. Skeptical, I asked about the return policy, just in case I wasn't satisfied. I could definitely return it, they told me. They took their time to explain all the features/benefits, as well as differences between the other products. I took the Google WiFi system home, plugged one into my modem/router, set up on in the middle of the house, and the last was set up in the back room next to my computer, which I hardwired directly to the Google. I pay for speeds of 150/150 from my provider. Prior to purchase, I couldn't get a signal stronger than 15/10!!! After hooking up, I was shocked when I used a third party speed test application. I was expecting in the neighborhood of MAYBE 75/70. It was 149/140!!! I was, and still am, delighted. Thank you to the staff that recommended this product. I wish I knew their names so I could call them out personally to management. Great product, great staff. Needless to say, I shall NOT be returning this!!!!

I purchased the 3 puck system and installed it in my house in under 5 minutes. Holy cow is the wifi fast and amazing. This is quite simply the best router system out there for us average guys. I work in tech and could have one with all the crazy features and what not, but 99% of consumers don't need that. For the majority of people this is the best system on the market hands down.

LOVE this product. Install went without a hitch as soon as I figured out my modem wasn't plugged in (Oops!) I called customer service before I determined my faux pas and GOT A HUMAN. Brian! I didn't even have to push a number first!! He answered in less than a minute at 7pm on a weeknight! I'm in awe of Google. He even didn't laugh at me when I figured out what I did wrong. I'm getting good to great signal strength everywhere that I have tested the 3 pak mesh network in my 3 story, 5000 square foot house. The wifi point with the strongest signal all over is the one I put in the hallway on the 2nd floor. We have 8 internet devices connected at almost all times that include our phones, laptops, desktop computer, printer, Chromecast and DVR. I even called our internet provider and he told me we were getting speeds at the top of the range of the package I purchased. Couldn't be happier. Thanks Best Buy for being the first to have this available in stock after the holidays!

I am in love with the simplicity and "just works" nature of this equipment. I waited to provide a review for a few days of use after install but there's nothing to report but superior coverage and excellent speed network-wide on all devices, even those that only support 2.4GHz networks. The mobile app is good for management, but I'd love a web interface, and while the parental controls and device priority modes are useful and work flawlessly, Id like a little more control (if wanted) around DHCP default range etc. Also, as someone who has an office full of high end PCs that are stationary or have docking stations, I would have appreciated 2-4 LAN ports vs the single Ethernet port on the main station. Overall This is a great wifi solution for homes larger than 2000 sqft where one router in the den doesn't cut it and you don't have to be a network engineer to deliver that sweet sweet Weye-fyes...

    FInally Something That Works

I have a 3,400 sq./ft. home built in 1801. As you can imagine, issues with plaster, distance, etc. I spent countless hours and money trying to find a way to get Wi-Fi throughout. The Comcast router would reach about a room adjacent max. After trying commercial grade routers (didn't work), extenders (didn't work), etc. I finally used multiple routers (apple) and "power wire" wall plug ins. It kind of worked, but it was very inconvenient (3 different log-ins in my own house), and produced poor results (often less than 3 Mbps). Now, with the google mesh system I have one network and total coverage with speeds at 210+ Mbps high, and the lowest furthest point still at least 40 Mbps. Couldn't be happier. Easy set-up, no problems yet with 26 devices connected. Also changed out Comcast modem to a Motorola 3.1 Gbps cable modem. Wired speeds are over 400 Mbps (my paid service is 400) I cut cable too and all TV's are Roku, Fire stick, or smart player/TV. With the new Live streaming services, so glad to be done paying the cable company $300 a month. Even streaming 4k over mesh network. No more rental equipment! Mesh Wi-Fi = very happy to put my Wi-Fi issues to rest.

Project has worked great! I purchased this a few years ago wanting to extend my WIFI through my home and also into the garage with maximum speed potential. This was very easy to set up and self explanatory via the Google app. I have only had a few minor issues with the network going down via my Xfinity box that required some re-booting and troubleshoot to get the Google routers back online, but didn't take a terrible amount of time.

How to resolve Slow Mesh Speeds

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Google WIFI works as designed if you have the patience to determine the correct configuration that is right for your needs. After spending hours on the phone with google tech support and following all of their instructions (Took several hours), I decided to troubleshoot the issue myself. The issue was with the Wifi Point Mesh speed, it would not exceed 210MB based on the google wifi app which was the cause of the slow speeds I was experiencing. When connected to the endpoints (No matter where I placed them) the speed was about 200MB versus 500MB+ when connected to the primary router. In reading some reviews and blogs, it is noted that the mesh can only support about 200MB given the way it needs to communicate over the mesh and support the devices connected to it. There are references to the FIOS router needing to be in bridge mode but that is not a feasible solution nor supported by Verizon. Based on the information, I decided go to a wired configuration for the Wifi points and this resolved the mesh speed issue. The FIOS router is connected to CAT5 run between a utility room and my office. The Google primary router is in my office where both the WAN and LAN ports are connected to a GB unmanaged switch and the CAT 5 run to the utility room. There are 2 additional CAT5 runs (to the two rooms where the Wifi points are located) connected to an unmanaged switch in the utility room and the FIOS router. In each of the rooms, the Wifi points connect to a GB unmanaged switch and the google wifi points are connected via the WAN port. I am getting 500+ MB speeds when connected to the wifi points which is what I expected from the mesh in the first place. Having to run the CAT5 wiring was inconvenient but if you really want the to get the faster speeds I recommend doing it even if you using another vendor's product.

I purchased the Google Wi-Fi 1-pack for my 1450 sq ft townhouse. My AT&T U-verse Wi-Fi modem is downstairs and I only got 2-3 strength bars upstairs. Using the Google Wi-Fi and the AT&T Wi-Fi shut off, I now get 3-4 bars upstairs. Set up was very easy using the Google Wi-Fi app on my tablet

I was in a bind my Netgar Nighthawk that had been set up for the last few years at a 2nd home died. I went online looked for inexpensive routers and didn't find much, having used an Eeero router for my house I figured I'd give Mesh Networking a try. The home is about 1500 sq ft so I only needed one puck to start with. I ordered the Google WiFi and made the 45 min drive to the nearest Best Buy and picked it up about 15 mins before the store closed (gotta love the order online and pick up in store when you're in a hurry). I also had to order an inexpensive switch as so I could keep the 5 devices I had connected via LAN up and working. I got home and in the span of 30 mins or so I had everything up and running. The ease of setup is great, so much easier than in previous years when you had to logon to a web page address and know what to check and which values to set up. I did go into settings to change the default web address to match up to my previous router so my legacy devices could connect without a big issue. The biggest issue for me was figuring out where the open ports tab was since I run a webcam and Slingbox that still require ports to be open. After a few minutes I found all the needed tabs to set up everything. I run anywhere from 35-50 connected devices (Iot) at a time. I ran everything for 24 hrs without any major issues. Only thing that appeared for me was the need to purchase a 2nd puck to put at the other end of the home, one of my devices is an outside weather station (Bloomsky) and the signal wasn't always strong enough for it to stay connected. Other than that I really didn't see any major issues and now have had it up and running for a week. The ability to use the app to restart the network is something I do like, everyone once a while I find I need to reset the network when a device disconnects and can't reconnect.

I was Skeptical - But now convinced

I was originally very skeptical to purchase these wifi access points for home. I had a friend who installed them and referred me. At almost $300 price tag its not real easy to swallow. But he convinced me so I purchased these for my house. Within minutes I had all 3 access points powered on and in a full wireless mesh. I elected to use 1 connected to my ISP modem and connect the other two via wireless mesh instead of an Ethernet switch. I expected to have pretty significant throughput loss since it was a wireless mesh instead of using Ethernet. However; at my furthest access point from the ISP modem I connected and ran a speed test. I subscribe to a 150 Mbps connection. Typically on Wireless i can expect 140 Mbsp when I have decent signal strength. On the furthest AP I was still pulling 140Mbps throughput, even though it's through a wireless mesh. Very good throughput. Very low latency. Very easy set up. I would highly recommend this product.

Wonderful! Easy to use, set up and provides amazing coverage in my ranch style, 2800 sq. ft. home. I have the modem in the basement and place one node connecting to it. The second node is about 50 feet away and up a level. The third node is about a hundred feet away on the same level, but in a bedroom. I get max bandwidth with all nodes and have had up to 11 devices linked. I was using separate router as another access point wasn't working quite the way I wanted and for the price this Google Mesh system is well worth it. The other pluses are that I'm constantly able to monitor my network from my app (I use Android), dedicate bandwidth to whatever device I choose (often a streaming / smart device), for an hour or up to 8 at a time. I did rather thorough research on other mesh network systems and bang for the buck, Google's seemed to be the best and thus far I'm not regretting my decision.

    Much better coverage

The two areas in our home where we chiefly use our wifi are the living room and the bedrooms. Our wifi coverage in the bedrooms has never been satisfactory; neither have any of the signal boosters I've tried. Finally I ran an Ethernet cable down the hall and set up a switch, but that only helped devices that have Ethernet ports. I bought this Google router planning to use its Ethernet port to have an access point in the other end of the house, and found that it covers the living room far better than the other router covered the bedrooms. The other router now serves only Ethernet. Even the Roku, which is in the living room but reliant on wifi, works perfectly well. If we find over time that the Google router's signal quality fades, I'm planning to buy another for the living room and set them up on mesh. I've fought with setting up Linksys and Netgear routers. This was so easy it was almost a letdown. Almost.

I have an old, long, ranch style home and have historically had horrible networking problems. I never could get good WiFi throughout the whole house due to interference and WiFi range limitations, and range extenders did little to nothing to help. With just one of these bad boys I have full strength WiFi in every section of my house. I didn't even have to drop a new fiber wire in the center of the house, its covering the entire 1500 sq ft from one far corner of the home. Its very easy to set up, essentially plug and play, and the app is just as user friendly. I am kicking myself for not purchasing one of these sooner and putting up with maddening internet problems for so long. I don't ever write reviews but I had to take the time to share how great this product has been for me so far.

install with the app is super easy- unless- something goes wrong. Then it's maddening because you can't see what's happening and you may not have the internet. I had to reset the 2 mesh wifi units- and to do that- UNPLUG them, press and hold the button, PLUG THEM BACK IN, wait 15 seconds, then release the button, and WAIT 5 minutes until they flash blue again. It'll take 5 minutes. The super friendly app will have timed out by then but you go go back to add wifi unit.
