Bought this camera on sale for like $380 and it is my first gopro, so i was a little excited. Got home and of course the battery was dead and had to charge it right away for over an hour. By the time it charged and I turned it on the screen showed "No SD Card". So without an extra SD card it is useless. You would think the Best Buy salesman would of told me that, but NO! So back to the store I go to get a 128G sd card and an extra battery(battery only last about an hour) Get back home and install SD card and start taking a few test videos. This gopro got so hot and also stuck on the playback screen everytime I watched what I filmed. I had to pull the battery out or turn it off and on for it to get back to the main screen evertime I watched what I filmed. So back to the store I went for the third time.....best buy associate agreed it was defective and should get that hot and switched it out for a new 1. I have had zero problems with the replacement and all is well, this gopro does film awesome footage just wish the battery lasted longer than an hour...be prepared to buy extra batterries($20 a pop) Overall, it is a good camera if u dont get a dud.

My review of the gopro in a festival setting

Bought this gopro for a festival and when it worked, it was great. Yet there was times, it would get stuck or not at moments maybe because of the heat at that time. I don't really reccomend this gopro for extreme festival heats. Though the video quality was great and the touchscreen on the gopro was beautiful and was very responsive. The battery itself, will likely not last a whole festival but it can if you choose the moments to record. The gopro itself is fine, though it is best when you get the accessories with it. Overall, I had a good time using the gopro and felt it worth the price I paid for it.

Super good quality for the price, plus its waterproof and durable, me and my kids bought it to give vlogging a try and so far i've been happy with it. The battery last like 2 hours but you can get more batteries and a dual charger so thats not an issue for me. Still learning but once you figure out how to adjust all the settings you can get really good looking footage. I chose the 9 because the battery last the longest from the reviews i read.

My wife and I took this go pro to Hawaii, it performed flawlessly! Under the ocean getting amazing video of sea turtles and fish all around. Go pro even has an app for your phone to make setting it up and using it very easy! 10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to capture adventure! P.S. Best Buy also had all of the accessories we wanted for it, and the techs really helped us out with all the latest and greatest! Couldn’t be happier!! Thanks!

At first glance, the addition of a full-color front-facing screen is a welcome feature. It makes framing self-captured videos or photos better than ever, allowing vloggers and selfie enthusiasts to ensure they're getting the perfect shot. The video quality, up to 5K resolution, delivers crisp and clear visuals, and with HyperSmooth 3.0 stabilization even the most dynamic and rapid movements result in smooth footage but On the downside, the size has increased slightly compared to previous models, however it's a small compromise considering the additional features and improved performance.

Easy to record with great video quality. Very durable and seems unscathed after a few good drops. It heats up fast and gets extremely hot! Battery life is sub-par. Small touch screen is glitchy or unresponsive sometimes; maybe better for small precise fingers. Unfortunately, I’m stuck with this GP now, otherwise I’d consider a newer model with longer battery life, upgraded touch screen. This is the first GoPro I’ve owned but not used.

Obviously it's top of the line. Crisp image quality, the slow mo and hyperlapse features work beautifully. At 4k30 or 4k60 the battery life drops off a bit. But that isn't surprising, and it still provides more than enough juice to hyperlapse 30 minute drive I took. If you already have go pro accessories then you're in good shape, though the Hero 9 specific items can be a little pricey. Overall, if you want a top of the line action camera with dual screens and solid 4k60 (or better) recording then this is the camera for you. If you don't care about the front screen or the upgrades then honestly you would probably be perfectly satisfied with the Hero 8.

My GF and I both use this for work so we can post on social media. The video quality is pretty sweet, the camera is small and easy to handle. We want to get some kind of mount for our dog because he goes crazy in water. We figured it would be funny to see what he sees. But all in all no disappointed with this purchase. It does great especially for the price point

Camera and mic quality are pretty nice but the battery life span could use some work. If you plan on using this for a decent amount of time with no charge, but another battery or two. Other wise great product

A sincere review for 25% of us that can’t use this

So I think there’s about 25% of camera shoppers that fall into the same camp as me. I started a YouTube channel about 4 months ago and just do still footage. In May I bought the GoPro Hero 7 and returned it soon enough. Then I bought a decent Panasonic camcorder to use. And last week when I found out GoPro did the latest camera with a front screen and live webcam, I said “great, that’s what was missing.” I recently returned this camera because everything I disliked about the GoPro 7 came back to me with the 9. This is a GREAT camera! BUT...if you’re like me and not very photogenic and need to see yourself while recording, the screen is still too small to feel confident. The webcam feature is buggy, and the camera still has all the quirks previous ones did. My return of my second (and last) GoPro reminded me of something important - and I do product development and also teach for a living, so I’m a “true” product guy. It reminded me that GoPros are ACTION cameras first and foremost. If you need a camera where you’re jumping off cliffs, skiing, under water, are very photogenic and not camera shy and know how to take advantage of all the wonderful features and capability of this camera, this is an excellent camera for you! You’ll love it! But I do none of the above stuff with my camera! I have always loved the portable size, btw. I like my current 1080 camcorder BUT I’ve grown out of it and want better quality for my YouTube videos. I think I’m going to upgrade to a 4K dslr/mirrorless, open box discount or something. If you’re like me and want to make videos or “vlog” (I hate that term) with mainly still image in your home (or even outdoors), then either a 4K camcorder or mirrorless with a bigger rotating screen is probably for you. And something tells me the video quality and settings will be great. These GoPros are made for a certain breed. Awesome cameras! But not for me!

I’ve used earlier go pros and loved them but this one is the best I’ve used. The video stabilization is insane on this. I’ve gone for hikes, motorcycle rides, bicycle rides and the stabilization has always worked better than expected. Everything is super smooth, no choppy videos. Looks so beautiful during the daytime and nighttime. I just wish the battery life was a bit better. I do love how easy it is to start recording with just the press of a single button at the top.
