Amazing toaster oven, not really a fryer

I think this is an amazing product, almost revolutionary in how I use the kitchen with this thing in it. But not for the reason you think. Let's get one thing out of the way first--this is not a fryer of any kind. It's not going to push out crispy, golden spears of fried potato perfection, nor will it take in battered chicken and return perfectly browned imitations of deep fried deliciousness. Not even if you soak it in oil first. For that, I took off one star. But you still need to buy one of these. What this device really is, is one of the most amazing toaster ovens (or small oven) you'll ever own. It heats up instantly, it cooks things in one-third the time the regular convection oven does (which itself is about one-half the time of a regular oven). It gets hot, it tends to cook evenly if the basket is not over-stuffed, and the interface--even if somewhat non-intuitive--works fine and it's easy to set temperatures and times. I don't know how anyone would live with a smaller version; even this gargantuan 6.5 liter model feels cramped and small for anything over one person. But even if you need to make things in batches, a slim 10 minute cook time for a lot of smaller objects makes it fairly simple. And as far as the aforementioned chicken goes? It makes the most juicy, amazing baked chicken ever. But it's still not fried, no matter how much you might wish it was. Frozen fries cook up very well, smaller pizzas work well, anything that you can cook hot and fast will come out of this thing better than if you had made it in anything short of an actual fryer. Just don't throw out your real fryer, because you'll still need it. The only things I don't like about this space-hogging but speedy device are it's size (duh), and that the basket itself wedges into the device in such a way that pulling it out is a two-handed affair, and it feels like I'm breaking it every time. Putting it back in is simpler. And it's all non-stick, so cleanup is easy with a brush to get inside all the various air-flow holes and cutouts. Is this bulky box of baking really worth $100? Sort of, if you use a toaster oven all the time. At a sale price of $75-50 though, it's a fantastic product that actually does save loads of time when cooking individual meals. Even if they're still baked and not fried.

I heard so much about air fryers, so thought what the hey! And I’m honestly so glad I did. It is first of all, surprisingly quiet for as large as it is. I love how simple it is to use. I am still getting the hang of how to properly set the temp as the first thing I made was just a little dark. But I am still getting used to temp settings as this is obviously way different than a regular oven, so this is a me thing, not the fryer. I LOVE how easy it is to clean. I noticed that if I shake the food like I did in my regular fryer, it crisps everything perfectly even as well. (I have read comments on others that this was a problem). So shaking the food or flipping it obviously is the fix here. Definitely replaces the use of my oven and fryer. Do not miss out on this puppy!! It definitely does the job at half the time of my oven and everything comes out crispier too. Gourmia really hit the nail on the head with this one!!

My friend got this air fryer and I just had to get it. I am so happy I did!!! My family is able to enjoy the crunch without the guilt of oil fried foods. The design is sleek and the capacity is good for a family.

This unit has worked well for over 4 years, but the handle broke off from the basket while dumping contents into a bowl. The plastic finally gave and broke at the base of the basket rendering the unit worthless as it both opens, transfers contents, and closes off things for heating. The basket is also difficult to clean and probably needs replacing in a few years as well.

Very easy to use. Tried up to a 6 lb whole chicken so far, cooked it beautifully in an hour, crispy skin with moist meat. Breaded chicken tenders from scratch were a big hit. It's big & bulky but it holds a lot. Baskets clean up easily. Button slide on basket release sticks a little but works ok for the most part.

Bought it today...to give as a gift for mother's day. We already have a Dash 6 qt air fryer. Although this one seems a little cheaper and more plastic than the Dash, I kinda like the settings. I made a big pork tenderloin today...came out fantastic! What took so long to invent these little things? While cleaning a screw popped out of the basket bucket holder. It appears to be stripped. There's still 3 other ones holding the front on so oh well. I've wanted to cook more fish in my Dash but didn't know how. The Gourmia has a fish setting among others. The pork roast was premarinated and turned out crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside. 370 degrees for22 min...flipped it, 320 degrees for 20 ish min. I always cook with a digital meat thermometer. Others have noted that it is difficult to pull out and push in the basket, that is correct. I assume it will loosen up over time. Or after another screw pops out L0L. Also that the pause is right next to the power button. Also true however mine keeps memory intact for last settings even if I unplugged it.

Returned it - Didnt get a chance to use it, broke

Got this for 50% off and was pretty excited about it. Once it arrived, I got it out and noticed several flaws I did not like: 1. Cheap plastic - I knew there was no way this thing will last over a year because the plastic was thinner than my 5qt I got at Costco. I think it's because it's a little bigger. It came with a crack which was reason why I returned it. Not surprised by the crack in the plastic. 2. Basket hard to push in - Tough to push basket in and out 3. Not that big - It's not that much bigger than their 5qt. I love my current air fryer but it's too small so I upgraded to this. 4. Warranty - I got the 2 year warranty which ended up only being 1 year since Gourmia already gives you one year. I am sure this thing will cook nicely, but my thing is I want to last several years and I dont think this machine will do that based on the design and plastic.

Terrible UI ruins an otherwise great product

I've loved the Gourmia 4.5qt version enough to buy this upgrade--but I find myself annoyed every time I use it. 1. Presets range from 350F-400F... if you want to use a lower temp, you need to hold the button for up to 10 seconds (slower than 4.5qt version). I frequently reheat at 180F (lowest temp), so I waste a lot of time/effort on this step. 2. Previous settings are not saved! If you cancel out of the menu, it defaults back to 370F and 15 minutes. 3. The timer feature is the worst--holding the up/down buttons won't gradually increase/decrease the number--it does massive jumps (15 minute to 1 in less than a second), so the only way to fine-tune the number is to keep tapping the screen instead of holding. 4. The power and stop/start buttons are right next to one another, and it's easy to confuse them after wasting 15+ seconds keying everything in... only for the menu to be reset when you thought you've started the unit... then you waste more time keying in settings again. The power button seems pointless, as my 4.5qt model lacks this "feature" and has never resulted in confusion. Aside from the TERRIBLE interface, it's a really stellar unit. But the UI is just so bad that I'm thinking of switching back to the smaller 4.5qt unit, which is a good deal easier to use. I would only recommend this model to my worst enemies.

Just got my air fryer and it works great. It cooks really fast so be cautious of that so you don't overcook your food. Not loud when in use and is easy to clean up. The only thing I find rather difficult is taking the basket in and out of the unit, its is rather hard to do, you need to use some muscle to pull it out and then a-line it just right to put it back in. Over all it works great so far...good purchase for the price.
