This is not your father's GT. This one is for the new wave of E Sports with its primary mission is fair, honest internet race matches. Being "sport" is not to collect cars but to race racecars with other human beings from around the world to capture a chance of being top. I judged it for it is, and not what you wish it was. Plenty of other competition for car collecting and this the first console for have a solid online package, similar to iRacing on the PC but with a much larger audience.

The best racing game available anywhere.

I purchased the Thrustmaster T150 to go along with the game. Gran Turismo Sport is not an arcade racer like Need For Speed. They call it the Real Driving Simulator and it treats the sport of racing with great respect. I’m fact, the game is so accurate and true to life that you can earn a real FIA racing license based on your performance in the game. I would highly recommend a racing wheel as it really brings the game to life.

If your looking for a step up from Gran Turismo 5 or 6....you wont find it here. While I give them tons of credit for finally not having 50 'versions' of the same car yet again (this enables them to promote the game by saying 'includes over 1200 cars'), they seem to be gearing gameplay towards making the 95% of the game for online play only. If this is what you prefer, than this is your game. The very little of single player is the same as what was available during the open beta that ended the 12th or 13th of October and was basically only 12 or so levels of the 'driver testing' that all of us who played previous iterations should all be familiar with (stopping distance testing, drafting, knocking over cones etc.). Another thing that has been removed from the game is that while we use to have 24 hour endurance races that you start in the daylight, then transition to night as time goes on, then back to day again, this version has abandoned it. Why?? If you want to race in the dark, you can only preset the race to be that way. There are no longer any 'transitional' periods like 'dusk' or 'dawn'. This is another step backwards for as far as I'm concerned since this is exactly the point of endurance races. Cutting down dramatically on cars is bad enough (I would have been happy had they just gotten rid of the multiple versions of the same cars, but kept the rest), but they also have much fewer tracks to race on as well.....another huge fail in my book. Project cars not only has more tracks, it also includes historical ones. Think of the original Spa or Monza track (with the banking). The majority of the game is for single playing, though you can race online to some degree. Considering that Project Cars 2 has already been released, I would have thought GT Sport would at least be the equal as far as gameplay and content. Instead, GT Sport falls way short. Now that I've cancelled my pre-order for GT Sport, I'll be purchasing Project Cars 2 instead. The only thing thus far out of GT Sport is they will 'patch' it or add to it as time goes on, but I dont purchase $60+ games on promises that 'may or may not come true' considering I've been burned by these 'promises' before. I'll pass.

    Regretful buy. Lacking everywhere, disappointing

I'm so disappointed for spending $75 on this garbage. There's almost no aspect of the game to upgrade car parts like all the other past releases. The money is for helmet skins, car colors and cars. I guess it's all about looks of something no one really sees, vs. enhancing your engine and vehicle. There's barely over a hundred cars. Nothing near impressive like other games or even the PS3 GT6. It's all online only multi-player basically with very little single player. My favorite part about this series was the ability to tune up and upgrade cars in many ways. Not in this game! Not even close or near the same experience. The developers Polygonal have destroyed their reputation. Poly.. GONER and Gran Turismo has a stain on its name forever now. Thousands of people online are in angry over these things all across reviews, forums, etc. Don't buy this game, looks are deceiving, research why everyone is giving bad reviews..

Saving offline game play now an online feature

I have bad internet and despite owning the game for a couple days (still working on 12GB patch) I have been unable to play anything other than arcade (Game demo mode). Everything is online the solo campaign, player progress, even saving the game is an online feature. So if you play offline everything you do gets deleted. Due to the lack of cars and tracks I would say this is half a game at best (offline game play with online access). Not really worth $60 in my opinion. Vr game play change my mind (2 stars instead of 1) but I have to get online first to test it.

    Awful Experience

I want to love this game. I grew up playing Gran Turismo, PS1, PS2, PS3, and then they give us this. I have completed my beginners licences and currently working on my intermediate. Normally this would allow me to unlock some race tournaments. At this point I can't race in anything. I cant even play in the races that Gran Turismo sets up because they don't start for a week. Then it is one race every week with who know how many other users. You can create race events, but there are not enough people that will sign up to actually run a full race of 16 drivers. Seriously. I don't think anyone ever complained about campaign mode, it was the reason people bought this game, and now you are so limited to "tests" trying to get gold in the Career mode. It is horrible. If you liked any other GT game you will not like this one.

The entire game takes place on a frozen lake. You go 10 miles an hour and your car starts spinning all over the place.
