Somewhat regretful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before I begin my review on this game I’m just going to state my credibility when it comes to the Gran Turismo series. I’ve put in tens of thousands of hours into this series since the first release in 1998 and currently playing the life out of the beta. You’re most likely wondering why the heck my review summary seems so negative and before you even read this review you will just smash the “unhelpful” button. Calm down, I’ll explain why “I’m” feeling regretful, regretful of preordering Gran Turismo Sport! For almost a year or whenever I heard this was going to be released I’ve been expecting a racing game that I know I’d love, for PS4, since I don’t own an Xbox One and a copy of Forza. I’ve been pumped up and impatient for its release because it’s going to give me something to do instead of playing boring old Call of Duty. So to answer the question as to why I’m feeling regretful for preordering GTS and not just spending $200 on an Xbox One and $60 for a copy of Forza, it’s because the LACK of cars in GTS! We’ve always had a variety of cars in Gran Turismo and so many variants as well. So to only be getting 162 cars, and the majority of them being clones or boring touring cars, I am sure every car enthusiast will bury themselves in their own grave and turn in it. Why did the developers put 5 different GTR models in the Nissan category? Why not put along with it a 300zx, 350z, 280 and so on. Same with every other manufacturer; We won’t be getting the beloved Supra, S2000, R34, Silvias, Sis’, good old muscle cars; none of that fun stuff and absolutely no variety. The car list is extremely disappointing and I sadly will still get the game in hopes that they will add so many more variety of cars for all car lovers and not this generic list of clones. So for the final review out of 5: Gameplay - 4 (so much to do in arcade and campaign and looking forward to the multiplayer. There is a lot of ways to earn money and score to upgrade your cars; as well as daily challenges etc...) Graphics - 4 (not as fancy looking as in the trailers of the game but nonetheless beautiful) Car List – 0 (pretty much my review explains it, and if you play the beta you’ll understand) Tracks – 5 (didn’t play all the tracks but the current ones look amazing and looking forward to driving all 28) Menu – 5 (from buying cars, upgrading them, dealership, news, taking pictures and so much more, I was pleased and felt spoiled by how much there is to do in the game other than race) Overall – 3 ( I love this series and look forward to playing the heck out of Gran Turismo Sport because it is and can be extremely fun in so many of way, and until more cars are added into the game I won’t be fully satisfied. One way to fix it is to either sell DLC’s or concurringly add cars into the game.)

A game all about driving
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No it doesn't have a ton of cars or a career mode but Gran Turismo Sport is a focused racing game about driving, competition, and realistic graphics. Do we still need a career/championship mode this day and age? How many times have we climbed the ranks and won trophy's in previous racing games? I appreciate the new direction this game is going. GT Sport challenges and teaches you to be a better driver so you can go race other players in the "Sport Mode". It does have an arcade mode for those who don't want to play online. Sure the game requires an internet connection to use most of it's features but the most popular games out there are only half complete without an online connection. I don't think it's a deal breaker but it can be frustrating for those without an online connection. I love the new "Scapes" mode, the rendered images looks incredibly realistic. I highly recommend this game especially if you already own a PS4.

Getting better every month.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a huge GT fan for almost 16 years. I have played every version of the game, and I have to say that after the first few days of GTS (early November 2017) I was a little worried. There were not nearly as many cars as are in most modern racing games, however that is quickly changing. The number of tracks will increase in the coming months as well. Polyphony recently added many of the classic single player racing modes and several more cars. The best part of this game is the daily goals and rewards that keep me coming back week after week. Also unlike most modern games, there are NO LOOT CRATES. All of the DLC is FREE. Wow! So if you want a racing game and have a PS4 then you owe it to yourself to try GTS.

I ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME (BETA)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So unlike most of the reviews here I actually played in the Beta a few months back. As a longtime GT player I was excited to be in the beta. I can only give so much information. First I will start with the Pro: New next gen GT yey! cars drive similar to past iterations. physics models are similar, suspension tuning is still there along with Diff adjustments torque diff settings ect ect. this will be a 80/20% version where 80% is going to be online hence the name Gran Turismo Sport means it's going to work towards esports. The in between: Love playing this beta, they did patch the beta early on to only let you race online instead of arcade. the races only happened at certain times of the day, and this will most likely change. the beta had access to about 4 different class cars. low HP, mid/ high mid and supercar. but long gone are the 10 different versions of Skylines and Miata's :( The Cons I look forward to this as a more competitive Gt but I really with they would have made the campaign a larger piece of this game. that's not to say the might work on some DLC. the idea that they are going to have a ton of cars is gone. there won't be 1000 cars but more like 200ish IIRC. I'm excited for it but really wish this was going to be more like previous titles. However I will still 99% be pre-ordering this. I have confidence that it will keep me entertained for a very long time. the Beta left me feeling like ok this is a new direction, but I'm ok with it. I think it does need some new features/play styles.

No longer the GT we all enjoyed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start with the good, graphics and physics are great.... I'm sure online racing against others is good, but not for me. Now to the meat and potatoes... This is a stark departure from previous GT games. It requires being online, even to save the game. No more is the ultra long career mode where you start out from the bottom and build/work your way up, modifying cars, improving them, and racing in single or cup races. Now the game is dumbed down, no solid campaign mode, no detailed car modifications. The game feels like they built it to suit the casual racer, or someone who just wants to race online with friends (requires PSN subscription). If you are looking to relive the fun of previous GT titles in PS4 glory, you wont find it.

Gran Turismo dropped the ball on this one
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Growing up, I played all the GT games. I looked forward to this game since the first trailer back in 2015. This is one of the main reasons why I got the PS4 was for anticipation for how great of a driving simulator this was going to be. I loved Gran Turismo 5 and 6 and loved the variety of cars it had to offer along with many famous world circuits. It seemed like the game was getting so advanced. It was neat to see the graphics of this game evolutionize along with changing weather conditions. Going into the future. I thought I would be excited for this release. This is coming from a long time Racing game person who likes to feel how realistic the controls are and making racing and time trails as difficult as possible. To start off, arcade is only available when offline. I’m not able to get a internet connection where I live so you are limited to just arcade only with only select cars and only 5 tracks. Theses tracks are GT made and don’t even consist of real circuits. And that is it. It even says on the back of the package, “online play optional”. This is very misleading. All the games I have that say this are completely functional without online play meaning that you can campaign within the game and complete it to it’s full functionality capabilities. This is a 60gb hardware space needed game on the console. Why does it take up so much space if 99% is network required? All in all, I’m not sure how this could be a step forward. This is a huge disappointment coming from someone who looked forward to playing these games for many many years and now I won’t be able to play it. Sorry Gran Turismo, you dropped it big time on this one. You lost a big fan here.
