Failed within 5 months

But this cable failed within five months of my purchasing it, and it did not see heavy use. It's easy to see the spot on the cable where the fraying and breakage has occurred, just before the point where it meets the Lightning connector – the outer insulation is misshapen and bulging. The flat cable design appealed to me for its compactness and ability to lay flat, but it's clear that the design is not up to the normal amount of flexing that's to be expected with gentle day-to-day use. I'm disappointed and will pursue the matter with Griffin, as

I've found when used with an iPad the wire at the end where it meets the lightning connector began to split and break less than a year after the purchase. I've never had that problem with cables I've purchased from Apple.
