Fun to Play but needs space

This games requires a ton of memory/space. My son received Christmas and tried to erase games to provide space before we realized there would never be enough. Although it says requirements on box, when ordering online you don't see. Would be good to have in description. Remedy was to install external hard drive which provided enouch space to load (2 hours) and run. Fun game with excellent music.

A Little Bit of a Challenge, but Upgraded Guitar

This is still a little challenging for my 9 year old son, and I think once he practices more and plays more, he'll be fine with this game--it would be perfect for a teenager, and it is fun. There's a great selection of music, and the guitar is easier with this version of the game because the buttons aren't as far apart--so it's easier for him to grasp the guitar, work the buttons and pay attention to the screen. The free microphone with this option is really nice and enables him to play the game in a different way than just using the guitar--plus, I mean it ups the rockstar factor (and Best Buy is the only major retailer with this added bonus).

The Rythm Game Innovation I Was Waiting For

This game is a great evolution from the original Guitar Hero formula that has become relatively stale. While Rock Band 4 doubled down on the original formula, and I still enjoy it, Guitar Hero Live offered a whole new experience and skillset to pick up. I was an expert level guitar hero and rockband player, and I had to start this game out on normal (or the equivalent of medium difficulty.) It took me about the entire story mode, 4 hours or so, to get my brain to wrap around the chord combinations, and then I started guitar hero tv on advanced (hard) and ended up about 20 hours into the game at expert on most songs. This game is fun! the Live mode is only about 4 hours and really has very little replay incentive other than a few achievements, but Guitar Hero TV is where it's at. You play on channels, very similar to classic MTV where you play to music videos. It's a blast, and I've maxed out my level on both XB1 and XB360. Here is where the problems come in. On normal mode, you rarely have to up strum/down strum for long strings of notes so I don't know if my guitar developed this problem or if it was there from the get-go as I was missing a lot of notes regardless of hardware in the beginning. Calibration seemed to be right on out of the box, and I messed with calibration quite a bit, changed batteries, restarted system and routers, re-synced and even changed the placement of the dongle from the back USB to the side USB. The strum bar worked flawlessly on the down strum but on the up strum it was very inconsistent. It would sometimes register 1, 2, even 3 presses with just one press. Sometimes it doesn't read at all. It actually makes Expert level almost unplayable if you ever want to get above 3 stars (it breaks your streaks but doesn't make you miss many notes). I was having so much fun that I just powered through and bumped the difficulty down to Advanced. However, about 4 hours into this, now my buttons aren't registering correctly and my down strum is messing up occasionally. I went through all the troubleshooting tests and had the same results. My guitar completely crapped out on me. A quick google search shows pages upon pages of this same issue. The game is great. It's the most fun I've had with a rhythm game since Rock Band 2. The peripheral is shoddy though. It feels great. Was a little squeaky out of the box but loosened up nicely. I returned it and got another and it seemed to work really well for finishing out the last few achievements and getting the million strums. My second copy of the game and guitar worked a lot better out of the box, and hasn't encountered any problems so far. I think they got the initial issues sorted out. Overall, this is my winding down game. I play it almost every night. There are some issues with the formatting, there's no practice mode, the "Live" POV single player is a little too silly to enjoy, and the online is filled mostly with "ghost" players, but all in all, This game is REALLY fun. I'm bummed we won't be getting another.

First game bought in 2 years. This was worth it. Takes some time to adjust due to fret lay out compared to past games. The guitar is a bit small in my view but its a fun game with lots of options

With the change of guitar style, this game has a different type of playing from the previous games, which after spending a small amount of time warming up to it, turned out to be very fun in its own way
