Great coop campaign...not so great solo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This campaign seems to be made to play coop which would be great if the dependance on your team members didn't lessen the experience when playing alone. There is a boss early in the game who is vulnerable only on his back. Problem is your AI team members aren't smart enough to distract him while you shoot or vice versa. One of a few times when a mission that would be routine with human teammates is nearly unplayable alone. The multiplayer is great as halo always is.

Nice try, but falls a bit flat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At one time, I often said that Halo was the best FPS game of all time. I've waited in lines 'til midnight more than once only then to head straight to a friend's house to play the new multiplayer with 12 or more friends. I've played side-by-side with my son introducing him to his first M-rated FPS. Why spend so much time in this review pining about the past? It's to let you know that Halo has always had a certain feel to it, and I know that feel. This game obviously tries to re-create that feeling, but try as it might, it just doesn't achieve it. The story is odd. Master Chief's decision to disobey a direct order is cinematically treated as a ho-hum moment. It didn't convey any emotional tension at all. That is followed by the weird way they handled the UNSC's decision to go after him -- an after-the-fact conversation between two Osiris teammates, which again falls flat in creating any tension. And I won't even go into what they did to Cortana's character... I like the new mechanics that lets Spartans dodge, hold position briefly in the air, etc. I also like the new Warzone game mode. However, there are things missing that I truly enjoyed from earlier games such as Firefight mode. Lastly, I can't get over the fact that they removed split screen mode which is part of what made Halo... Halo. Not only that, apparently they didn't test multiple co-located Xboxes behind the same firewall very well because my son and I often experience a weird bug in which we get out of sync with each other in between multiplayer matches forcing us to perform a hard reboot of the Xbox One to resolve. This never happens when playing individually over Xbox Live. The bottom line is that, while I liked Halo 5, it fell short of my expectations. I would recommend it, but maybe used or after a price drop.

Could Have Been Better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First game I played on Xbox One and graphics are very impressive. So was the initial update for the game, 35 GB! I enjoyed the story for the most part, not sure I like where it's going. Won't give any spoilers but I'm a little nervous for Halo 6. I really miss the local coop!!!! This is the first Halo I was not able to enjoy playing with my wife. Haven't played the multiplayer. It was refreshing to play a game that didn't use the F-word every other line.

Great Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Halo 5 is an amazing fps shooter. Storyline is great and multiplayer tops that of any previous Halos. The graphics are so amazing.

Excellent Halo game, some minor innovations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the most polished Halo game by far, and runs at a smooth 60fps. The co op is still good, but the lack of split screen co op is a terrible decision for the franchise, that was one of the main ways that I played every other Halo. Warzone mode adds Killzone style bots to make larger battles, Arena is very good but limited to 4v4. If you love Halo you will love this one, but if you did not like the other ones then this is unlikely to change your mind.

Refresher
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I felt like nothing could touch Halo CE with the "wow" factor and impact that Halo Ce created for me when it first came out. The later installments were good but not like the first Halo which changes FPS and molded it they way it is today. Until Halo 5 Guardian's came out. This gave me a feeling like when I first played Halo in 2001. The Graphics improved, story improved, game replay value improved, and game's mechanics improved tremendously. I recommend this game to any Halo fan or just starting out!

A fitting addition to the Halo franchise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The campaign on Normal is lackluster, however the campaign shines when on heroic or Legendary, It is one of the better halo stories to date. However thats not saying much. The multiplayer is a great evolution forward for the franchise, and is top notch. Req system is fair, and not pay to win and I would highly advise any halo, or shooter/sci fi fan to make the leap forward and purchase this product. But Fallout 4 comes out next week, so FALLOUT!

Good but comes with annoyances!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm giving this a 4 out of 5 because I cannot deny that this game has great graphics - At least IMO! Now, what I'm not happy about is the fact that it lost the split game feature that previous versions of Halo had. Add to that, multiplayer gameplay seems to be designed for online usage - Not Cool! And finally to buy this game and take the time to install it, only to have to install a 50Gb update is crazy. Come on, Microsoft!

Just as advertised
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Halo 5 is amazing and the campaign is great. The multiplayer experience is good too, but nothing spectacular compared to the other multiplayer games. This is not a knock, but if you have played the Halo franchise, it is very similar. I enjoy multiplayer, but the campaign in Halo has always been more appealing to me. Great game and if you want a fun game to play and let off some steam, this is your game (and for me, has always been the case).

Halo modernized
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Halo has been brought into the current gen, and not all in good ways either. With a lackluster story yet stunning graphics and solid gameplay, this is the most shallow game in the entire series. Multiplayer also plays well but is plagued with the introduction of micro-transactions for packs containing, well, you don't know until you open. Yes, this is halo becoming modern and copying off many other games - there are some good inclusions such as the ability to scramble up the side of a cliff which add to the fluidity of movement. Sadly you won't be scrambling with your friend on the couch next to you because they will have to be in a separate location on their own Xbox one with our own copy of the game in their own subscription to Xbox Live to be able to play co-op missions or multiplayer with you. Whether you should a buy this or not depends on what kind of player are you are. If you really like Destiny and other modern shooters than this will fall right into your wheelhouse. If you're a fan of the Halo series, especially playing through a great story story on couch co-op ,then you may find this one a disappointment. For those latter players I would say wait for a sale, rent first, or just by keeping in mind that you may resell it soon.

the king is back
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The king of fps is back forget destiny cod and battlefield the the best fps game for xbox has finally come back in a big way ive been a die hard fan of halo since the original xbox and this installment feels new and yet old in a great way ive not had this much excitement since halo 2 my opinion is this has one of the best stories in the franchise. Id go as far as saying this has the potential of being game of the year along with the witcher 3 Batman arkham night and bloodborne

ColeForMayor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great example of a next generation game in a long running franchise, improved graphics, newish gameplay and bigger multiplayer. No one needs to be told what Halo is or what it stands for. If you played 4 then 5 is not a gigantic leap, just a more refined and better game. This may not make you buy an Xbox One, but if you have one then you have no excuse about buying this game, its that fun. You will atleast get 15 hours of fun out of it for the casual halo fan.

Great campaign and multi-player online
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a fan of Halo games since the first one. This is a great game, solid campaign and new game modes in the online multi-player. What really bothers me tough is that 343 industries decided that local co-op campaign wasn't important. This is a huge deal and many fans are disappointed, I've completed every campaign with my brother before this one and now that's gone. Maybe they could add that feature in a future uodate
