    Multiplayer must, campaign bust.

As a lifelong player of the Halo series (2001-15), I believe that 343 Industries bounced back from the underwhelming game that was Halo 4 (least favorite in the series) to deliver a solid Halo game. Multiplayer is the main attraction (as it should be) and the amount of unlocks available will keep you playing for months on end just to get enough in-game currency to open another gold pack. I will say however that the Warzone game mode needs more maps (only 3 at launch). Blasting through the campaign is great with 4 friends (although the weak story narrative leaves much to be desired). Overall, if you're looking for a fun, fast-paced, 60fps multiplayer shooter in 2015 with legit dedicated servers, this is it.

What more could you want? The original HALO and HALO 2 have been remastered with updated graphics and a smoother engine making game play even more fluid. Great Game.

This is the best halo that came out in a while! Halo 3 was the best one in my opinion, but this game revamps the entire series. It feels more fast paced and the story is pretty decent. The inline is hard af, but it's still fun!

I remember the days spent setting up a LAN and playing Halo with 16 people in one house. While I will most likely never experience that again, this game is the closest thing to that feeling I have experienced since then. This game feels more like the original Halo than any other Halo title since. I do have a gripe about the title though. I have a 4K TV. The technology that the game uses to dynamically lower the resolution to keep the frame rate up, severely degrades the graphical quality on my TV as it tries to upscale the image automatically. Textures fade out and become blocky. On my smaller 1080p monitor (24") it looks great though! So if you do not have a 4K TV then you'll love the way it looks.

Like many of you i grew up on Halo Lan Parties, 4 players per screen. Sure they have their reasons for not having split screen but i feel for the younger kids with siblings. It's sort of annoying that they'd have to switch off instead of playing together. Sure it says one player behind the box but Halo has ALWAYS been about split screen. Now we have to bring our TV's and xbox's for our Halo Lan parties. Other than that it's a great game. Some of these halo punks (i mean players) are just too good at times. I feel like throwing my controller at the screen.

The story is amazing. The multiplayer is the best out of all the halo games. The new req points system is a awesome addition to the game. I love war games, now we can finally have a REAL big team match, none of that 8v8 junk.

This is a typical Halo game. There have been some tweaks to the game to make it feel faster, with boosts and such. It is a very good game. I will mention here why I only gave it 4 stars. No split screen co-op. This really irks me because I can't play with my kids or friends on the same couch. This was one of they highlights of all the previous Halo games. It really lessened the experience for me when I went to play it with my son, and I couldn't. We have to watch each other play. How much fun is that? Otherwise, it's a great game. Online co-op is great, multiplayer is great especially with the addition of Warzone. Everything else is great. No split-screen co-op is a big drawback for me though.

Gameplay is generally the same. The story is more interesting this time around switching between Masterchief's team and the team sent to sent to stop them. Multiplayer is more expansive than Halo 4.

Had to repurchase this game after selling it once to experience true 4K gameplay. I’m blown away by the detail in this game, for what it’s worth, I’d definitely revisit halo 5 if you have an Xbox one x.

Graphics are great, gameplay is smooth. My only complaints is that you can't play with more than 1 person, no split or quad screen play. And also the story is something else, I won't ruin it though.

An all new story on the Xbox One. Great gameplay and graphics. My only one complaint would be that you don't get to play as Master Chief for even half of the game. Other than that, I loved it. Can't wait until the next one.

Another great game in the series. Halo 4 had a great story, but was a little stale. This new installment has a great story line and is a blast to play. 343 did a nice job bringing another captivating game to the franchise.

The caimpaign is ok. Excellent graphics but the story feels as though it's going through the motions setting up Halo 6. The multiplayer with the new modes and armor abilities is very cool though.

I am a die-hard, avid Halo fanatic and have been since before the very first Halo game came out (yes, I followed it's development back when Halo was to be a Mac game!) I have every (official) Halo game ever made, as well as all the books, comics, and other such media. I LOVE Halo. And being such a huge Halo fan, I had very high expectations for this game, particularly in the characterization and story departments. On that front, I was highly disappointed. The characterization in Halo 5 was almost completely lacking, and this with 8 main characters instead of the normal one!! Utterly shameful. Such potential for awesome story-telling, for complex human emotions, all wasted on textbook characters who all seem like clones of sheep. Atrocious. If you like playing story mode and can ignore the horrific lack of depth in the characters and story, you may actually enjoy some of the gameplay. I feel that it does retain the feel of a Halo game while also introducing some new elements which are intriguing and interesting. The verticality of this game is very refreshing and noticeable, though perhaps not to the extent of games like Titanfall or Mirror's Edge. But really, the multiplayer is where it is at with this game. The typical deathmatch style gameplay is your usual Halo fun, and the new e-sports type gamestyles (Grifball, Breakout, etc.) can be a lot of fun. Warzone is a decent attempt at large-scale madness and, while certainly not perfect, it comes off pretty well and is enjoyable. Personally, I did not find the gameplay to be quite as satisfying (or as addicting) as Destiny, though it was certainly fun and addicting in it's own way. Yes, I admit my review is biased towards the single-player campaign (story), but the depth of the Halo universe and characters is what gets me to buy Halo games in the first place. The fact that these qualities were woefully inadequate in the Halo 5 campaign is partially offset by my enjoyment of the many multiplayer modes, but in the end the MP was not enough to truly satisfy my "Halo" longings. In fact, to me Halo 5 was almost a 180 of Halo 4, in which I thoroughly enjoyed the depth of complex emotions and character development of the campaign but found the actual "fun" of the gameplay and multiplayer to be lacking. Maybe with Halo 6 they'll get it right?

Halo 5: Guardians further establishes 343 as a lesser Halo studio compared to what Bungie accomplished. The campaign is short and fairly easy with a lack of narrative resolution. It takes about 5-7 hours to complete with a few of the 15 chapters amounting to nothing more than walking around in a limited environment and talking to NPCs. It's worth picking up if you're interested in multiplayer as that's the strongest component of the game and there's a lot of online modes and maps with more to be added for free. Unfortunately, split-screen has been dropped.
