A ok game
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I give this three stars due to the fact that a lot of content was cut from the full game but I purchased this during Black Friday sale so I picked it up just to have it in my collection with the MCC

Some things better, some things worse
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found the story within the game to be much more engaging and concise than 4 or 5, without jumping around to so many different planets: it all happens one place in this game. However, key events that occurred between 5 and Infinite are never fully explained, and only revealing through audio logs, so the game starts off with a very confusing opening. The story is thus hobbled by knowledge that is only obtainable through novels and other tie-ins, and knowledge of the events of Halo 5 is critically important. I suspect the game would make much less sense to someone who has not completed Halo 5. The combat mechanics are much improved over 5, and feel more like the mechanics of 2, 3, Reach, and 4. When I aim and shoot a weapon it feels natural and none of the extra zooming-in for non-zoomable weapons like there was in Halo 5. The enemy chatter is fantastic and truly one of the best features of the game. There are both propaganda towers broadcasting enemy dialogue as well as the aliens themselves who talk amongst their group, including comments directed both at the Master Chief and at each other, with Grunts often the subject of ridicule by the other aliens. While there has been chatter in all previous games, it is much more fleshed out and responsive to what the Master Chief does in Halo Infinite. For example, if you kill a Brute with a headshot, other Brutes will comment on a brother's loss, Jackals may cry out that the enemy was too tall to avoid being shot in the head, and Grunts may simply freak out as being the next to be killed. All of the chatter adds up to being the most enjoyable experience the game offers. Graphics in first person mode are also highly detailed, even on Xbox One. On Series S/X they probably look even better. But graphics for the pause screen tac-map are blocky and rather imprecise without the ability to zoom in on any features. But the new physics engine is a joke. Sometimes you can shoot and enemy and he'll fly over 50 meters into the air for no reason. Even the Master Chief can be blown high and far from an enemy attack. The ragdoll physics ruins what is otherwise a "believable" game. The game shows other signs of very poor playtesting. Captions often to not line up with the dialogue audio. Captions are frequently a second or two out of sync but in one case I had it over two minutes out of sync. The audio message had ended well before the captions were displayed. The main menu is also problematic, as to continue the campaign you must wait for all online content to be loaded, otherwise the continue screen shows you the image of the saved location, but no continue prompt is given, requiring backing out to main screen to finish loading content. Fora game that has been out for six months before I played it, that's bad. Some of the boss fights are also terribly difficult due to the frequency of one-hit-kills they employ. The third boss in the game required about 100 attempts for me to master on Normal difficulty, and I've beaten each previous Halo game on Difficult. When the third boss (of about eight) is the hardest enemy in the entire series, constantly wiping you out in a single hit, something is wrong. I suspect damage done to the enemy scales with difficulty level, but damage they do to Master Chief appears to be pegged to Legendary. The lack of a compass on Master Chief's HUD is also a poor design choice. He had a compass in earlier games, even though it wasn't terribly needed due to the more linear approach of each level. As an open-world game for most of the first half, the lack of a compass creates disorientation, only solved by a multi-second pause to bring up the tac-map and determine your heading from the icon. Ultimately, the story is really good, the graphics are great, and the chatter is excellent, but problems in execution and playtesting sort of ruin it. I feel like there have been better Halo games than this. I get the impression that 343 Industries is still trying to find the winning formula Bungie produced. Closer than Halo 5 in many aspects (like combat) but so much further away in others (playtesting and physics) For context, I have completed all six mainline Halo games, as well as Halo: Reach. I played on Xbox One hardware. I do not find the multiplayer modes of first-person shooters very enjoyable, so I am focused almost entirely on the single-player campaign in Halo games.

Halo Finite
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Halo has had it fairly rough the past few years, with the terrible TV series, the Master Chief collection issues, and just generally forgettable games after Reach, and it's sad to say that this is the best Halo game in quite some time, and that's not saying much. I get why Microsoft demands more titles being released, as this is their premiere flagship title for Xbox, easily a system seller since it's inception in 2001, but this game should serve as a reminder to maybe get new developers on board. The story is familiar, the graphics and gameplay are familiar (with a few newer touches, mainly the retractable hook attachment) and everything just seems like cozy fan service. It's not a bad game per se, but it's just very, very afraid of leaving their comfort zone, especially after Halo 5 did that with their story. But at least take a chance and do something more interesting here Microsoft and 343. At least the multiplayer mode is fun, but the micro transactions are not worth playing more than a few rounds, but at least you don't need the physical or digital copy to play the multiplayer, since it's free out the gate. Honestly, if you can grab this game for cheap, like say sub $20 like I did ($14.99 is a solid price), it's not terrible, it's just rather rote and pedantic. At least last and new gen players on Xbox can play this, and that's about the highest praise I can give.

Microtrasaction Halo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great game, yet still held back severely by microtransactions. Missing lots of content from previous Halo entries. Online multiplayer is completely free, only buy this for the open-world FarCry style campaign.

Great game, but programing bugs shouldn't happen!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Game itself is good, lot of action great graphics, etc. I had issues with the mechanics of running it on an Xbox Series X. The game had problems saving my progress. I got online and found out that there is a "quick start" feature on the game/Xbox than can screw up the saves. It took me hours on the web trying to figure out what was happening. It is a well known problem, but apparently only on the disc versions of the game, not the downloads! Not totally sure of this, but it is what I found online. ONce I found out how to disable the "quick start" feature on the Series X, the Xbox refused to keep it off. It kept showing the quick start feature as active on the screen. I think I finally have a way around this. First of all I play through ALL of the major missions in total. I cannot stop halfway through, even though the screen will say "Checkpoint saved" and "Progress Saved". After being sure that the mission is completed, I then use the "fast Travel" option to go to another base, then again use FAst Travel to go back to the mission I just finished. From what I read this can assure that progress is saved. You'd think that with all the time it took to get this game out, this wouldn't happen! ALSO there was no reason given for the problem. Worst of all there was no time estimated by 343/Microsoft for when a patch would be out. Disappointing, but the game itself is excellent.

Breathtakingly Average
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PvP is free to play, so all you're getting here is the campaign mode. Extremely pretty game graphic-wise. Fun to play, which is expected from a Halo title. I wouldn't pay more than $20 for this. (caught it on sale for $9.99; included a Steelbook and a weapon skin DLC code).

Let down
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am the biggest halo nerd and I just wish there was more to the game. For it being a free multiplayer and it being delayed as long as it was, so much was and is still missing even to this day. Gameplay is good but campaign is extremely quick, and multiplayer is all of like 8 maps.

This one hurts.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Halo franchise has fallen...off a cliff. This game has great graphics, and the story is ok. The open-world stuff is great. But 343...is no Bungie. Multiplayer is meh.

Not Bad. Not Great
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like most Xbox gamers, Halo has been a favorite series of mine and was the pillar of gaming on the Xbox consoles. However, my love for the Halo franchise imploded when Halo 5 Guardians was released years ago. When Halo Infinite was announced, I was skeptical. I didn't want to get my hopes up and be disappointed again. Cut to 2022 where I only recently finished the Halo Infinite campaign. That should tell you something since normally, I would've completed it within the first month of launch. It's not a horrible game. It kind of redeems the series after Guardians. However, it's not memorable. I was expecting an open world FPS that was going to reinvent the Halo mechanics. It doesn't. I am not saying this is a garbage game. It's just that the world gets repetitive. Fast. I was expecting varied enviroments that the Halo rings were known for in the past Halo 1-3 games. Instead, it's the same rocky/forest landscape with the occasional sub interior levels that have the same metallic sheen. The controls are solid and are accessible for veterans and new players a like. I just wanted a memorable adventure that would have me immediately returning for play through on Veteran difficulty. I also feel that making this game for cross gen was a mistake and really held back the true graphical potential for this game. But I know that not everyone has access to a Xbox Series X and Microsoft needs to make a profit. In the end, Infinite has opened the door to me becoming a full fledged Halo fan again but this game failed to fulfill the expectations built up over the past two years leading up to its launch.

Best 343 Halo Game
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Look, I love Halo and I know it hasn’t been the greatest recently but this game at least gave me some sort of hope for the series. The story isn’t bad but it all just nostalgia really. It’s probably the best Halo game 343 has put out thought. Multiplayer is getting better now but it’s still okay.

It’s another HALO series!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying I’ve been a Halo fan ever since the first game released on the original Xbox. I really like this games campaign it reignites the nostalgia for sure. I rated this game they way I did because I am not a fan of the online multiplayer mode that forces you to play all the modes. I’d like the ability to select my favorite modes only! For that reason I am bummed.

More like Halo finite...
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game play itself meets expectations so far but... We purchased primarily to be able to play online with friends. So far, that performance has been disappointing. Playing the actual game in campaign mode does not work for online play. The patch is rumored to be in the works but months out. Boo...

||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game failed to engage me. Graphics are amazing, but the gameplay and story are lacking. I still have not completed the campaign, and doubt I will. It's a bummer. I have such fond memories of cool dude Halo over the years...

Campaign not included.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not sure of the point of the dvd since the campaign was not included and needed to be downloaded. Microsoft needs to send out campaign disks to everyone who bought to get five stars. Love Halo but feel cheated.

not worth the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, absolutely disappointed in this game. I thought this would be a good Halo game at baseline, considering all the promises that were made by 343 studios, but apparently not.

A good addition for collectors of the series
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not the best in the series, but a good story nonetheless. Would have rated higher if the full game was on the disc, but it requires a full download. Not a good practice for physical media collectors.
