I have been transferred from one person to another on the phone, lied to, charged for services I did not receive, and unable to speak to someone in this country that can help me. It's been an absolute customer service nightmare.

Geek Squad had problems adding memory card

I think the Geek Squad had major problems installing additional memory. They did not check out system out of box before they touched it. Then had problems with different people not able to install memory card and tried to jam it in and lift cooling coil. I bought this for my daughter's schooling. Now she is without laptop and has to wait until Best Buy Fixes it.....

PNY RAM stick purchased needed to be replaced.

The Geek Squad service was fine, but the RAM stick I purchased (a 16GB PNY DDR4 2666MHz SODIMM4) is defective, offering much slower speeds. I'm able to return the hardware for a full refund, but I'm losing nearly $50 because apparently the hardware service is non-refundable according to some Level 1 Customer Support rep over the phone. I had to revert a one-step hardware replacement for my computer to return to normal, and now I'm out of my money.

Greek Squad installed an SSD drive. It works but when I opened the PC to check it the dust was so thick, I could barely see anything. Very poor job.

    Install new DVD drive

I had a bad DVD drive, got a new one, and brought it to be installed under my tech service agreement. It was too complex and time-consuming for me and also for Best Buy. The laptop is "old". So I did not get the drive installed. I am using an external DVD drive.

Thanks for taking time out of your day to share your thoughts with us. Having a part go bad on an older computer can definitely be frustrating, especially if it works fine otherwise! We’re sorry for the inconvenience that this caused you. We hope you give us another opportunity to better serve you in the future.

Don't trust what the Sales Associates tell you

Product was never installed. I bought an open box Lenovo desktop which the sales associate assured me was in perfect condition except for a dent in the case. I was still skeptical but the associate once again assured me it was better than new because the Geek Squad did a thorough inspection and found no problems at all. I bought it and brought it over to the Geek Squad to install more ram and a secondary hard drive. 2 days later, I get a call from the Geek Squad telling me the computer was inoperable and not repairable. I returned it and ordered a Dell to my specifications from Dell itself. Should have done that in the first place

For some strange reason, the Geek Squad employee took my hard drive out, put it in a sack and gave it to me. I did not ask him to do this. I did not realize it until we got home.

I am happy with the product or end result but the cost was outrageous. $99 on a laptop that was purchased 2 months prior but I kept getting the run around from Dell and Best buy said there was nothing else that I could do!

Hi KDriggers - Many repairs on new computers are covered by their manufacturer’s warranty, but any upgrades would be a cash on delivery service. If the work performed was a repair I suggest reaching back out to a store manager by using the phone number at the top of your receipt, or giving us a call at 1-800-GEEKSQUAD (1-800-433-5778) to discuss this.

A simple sold state HDD install turned into a nightmare. I was so frustrated with them. I even think they screwed up my audio card and now my speakers don't work with the card. I refuse to take it back, since every time I took it back in something else went wrong. I use my Bose headphones now and i'm going to wait for one of my extremely tech savy friends to help me get my speakers working again.

I went to my local store to install a new SSD to my laptop. The first guy said there was only one technician right now and asked me to come back in about 30 min so another technician would be there and get the job down. I came back again in about 30 mins. The second guy told me I had to leave my laptop there for a day or two. Come on, it is just an SSD. If I had to leave the laptop there, why told me to come back in 30 mins. Also the second guy did the whole process with his cold face. Very disappointed experience.

Hello Goody - Thanks for letting us know about the bad experience you had with your local Geek Squad. A SSD is one of the best upgrades you can get for your computer, so it’s definitely worth getting done. We always encourage customers to create a reservation at www.geeksquad.com/schedule to make sure that we have an Agent available to help them out. Regarding turn time, it can vary with the flow of the business, though most of the time for a hardware install you would be looking at a 24 hour or longer window. I encourage you to call your local store to work with them to see if you can bring the computer in when they have a light workload so they can get the work dome for you more quickly.
