Don't trust what the Sales Associates tell you
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product was never installed. I bought an open box Lenovo desktop which the sales associate assured me was in perfect condition except for a dent in the case. I was still skeptical but the associate once again assured me it was better than new because the Geek Squad did a thorough inspection and found no problems at all. I bought it and brought it over to the Geek Squad to install more ram and a secondary hard drive. 2 days later, I get a call from the Geek Squad telling me the computer was inoperable and not repairable. I returned it and ordered a Dell to my specifications from Dell itself. Should have done that in the first place

Install new DVD drive
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a bad DVD drive, got a new one, and brought it to be installed under my tech service agreement. It was too complex and time-consuming for me and also for Best Buy. The laptop is "old". So I did not get the drive installed. I am using an external DVD drive.

Posted .Thanks for taking time out of your day to share your thoughts with us. Having a part go bad on an older computer can definitely be frustrating, especially if it works fine otherwise! We’re sorry for the inconvenience that this caused you. We hope you give us another opportunity to better serve you in the future.

Great service but awful price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am happy with the product or end result but the cost was outrageous. $99 on a laptop that was purchased 2 months prior but I kept getting the run around from Dell and Best buy said there was nothing else that I could do!

Posted .Hi KDriggers - Many repairs on new computers are covered by their manufacturer’s warranty, but any upgrades would be a cash on delivery service. If the work performed was a repair I suggest reaching back out to a store manager by using the phone number at the top of your receipt, or giving us a call at 1-800-GEEKSQUAD (1-800-433-5778) to discuss this.

Could of done it myself
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent $90 just to have someone replace a power supply on my PC, the employee wasn’t busy and made me wait 2 days for a quick installation

The install was donr wrong
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A simple sold state HDD install turned into a nightmare. I was so frustrated with them. I even think they screwed up my audio card and now my speakers don't work with the card. I refuse to take it back, since every time I took it back in something else went wrong. I use my Bose headphones now and i'm going to wait for one of my extremely tech savy friends to help me get my speakers working again.

Very cold experience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to my local store to install a new SSD to my laptop. The first guy said there was only one technician right now and asked me to come back in about 30 min so another technician would be there and get the job down. I came back again in about 30 mins. The second guy told me I had to leave my laptop there for a day or two. Come on, it is just an SSD. If I had to leave the laptop there, why told me to come back in 30 mins. Also the second guy did the whole process with his cold face. Very disappointed experience.

Posted .Hello Goody - Thanks for letting us know about the bad experience you had with your local Geek Squad. A SSD is one of the best upgrades you can get for your computer, so it’s definitely worth getting done. We always encourage customers to create a reservation at www.geeksquad.com/schedule to make sure that we have an Agent available to help them out. Regarding turn time, it can vary with the flow of the business, though most of the time for a hardware install you would be looking at a 24 hour or longer window. I encourage you to call your local store to work with them to see if you can bring the computer in when they have a light workload so they can get the work dome for you more quickly.

Geek squad sucks!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lied to me about what was wrong with the computer, leaving me down $300 and still no working computer, also made me get the most expensive version of the product when it wasn’t even the issue. Never using geek squad again.

Didn't help the cause
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So my laptop was making a lot of noise. I checked with best buy team (paid the initial 30 min checkup cost) and they recommended me to replace the fan. They didn't have one for my laptop model. So i spent $50 to get one. I then got it replaced from them. They said it was working fine. I went back home and vola the fan noise is back. What's the point of spending more than 150 bucks?

Upsetting
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I gave them my computer to replace a few parts. My computer I had custom made along with all wiring being hidden. After the geek squad touched my system they messed up all the wiring and then said, “ohh sorry but we couldn’t do any better”. Saying that to me with a arrogant attitude, so I just simply said take the parts out so I can exchange them. I also demanded they rewire it the original way or else. They did but lost sales and a customer. Maybe Best Buy should teach these kids somethings called courteous and professional service. Too bad I couldn’t submit zero stars.

Bad service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went into the store, and advised that my laptop fan was bad and making lots of noise. Geek squad insisted it was my hard drive, and sold me a drive I did not need. When I brought my laptop back they kept it for an entire weekend just to look up part numbers. They failed to fix the problem and I will not be using them again.

I will never use it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took my 17" Dell Alienware R3 to change the battery. I asked if the technicIan has done it before, because I knew that it is a complicated process after I watched it on Youtube, and he said he has done it before 3 times. What I got back is a dead computer. I had to send it to Dell to get it back to life and it cost me $325 that''s on top of the $40 Geek Squad took from me.

Not done
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The second hard drive I wanted installed won’t show up. And now I am wasting time waiting for them to check it when it should have been done before being picked up. Not happy.

Posted .Thanks for leaving a review. We totally understand how important it is to make sure your installation is done when you expect. We’re sorry to hear it may not have been. We would encourage you to work with the managers at your local Best Buy about this issue as they would be best suited to assist. You can find information about your local store at www.bestbuy.com/storelocator.

Blue screen fix
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They were able to reboot the computer, and didn't charge me for a new hard drive. Maybe they should've, bc it didn't get fixed. A new fan was needed, but they didn't discover that.
