Posted .Hi Babu – We shouldn’t ever be charging for a service we don’t provide. That $35.00 may have been a diagnostic fee for sending the device out to a service center, however. If that isn’t the case, I encourage you to give us a call at 1-800-GEEKSQUD (1-800-433-5778) or visit your local Best Buy to discuss this further.

Hannah my Hero!

Not only was she friendly and patient, she quickly diagnosed the problem and became my hero when she discovered my blank screen wasn't a major issue, but merely the brightness-button was turned down! She made my day! *_* (Embarrassed but thankful)

AIO Cooler & BIOS Update
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a new AIO Cooler and had the Geek Squad install it for me and do a BIOS update for the PC and they had it done successfully with no issues in 3 days. I am satisfied with their both customer service and technical service. They might've taken their time to install it, but they got the job done right and very clean. They also called me after the BIOS update regarding a free troubleshooting to ask for permission which in some other places they don't do that. I would recommend them to friends. If you want to fix your device, this is a good place if you don't mind the potential wait time.

Outstanding! Very professional and quick!

It was approved and installed in Less than 15 minutes. Very professional and quick service. I did wait for my appointment but got in early.

Stellar Manager! Staff Could do better.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took my laptop in to get the internal battery replaced and when I got it back, there were noisy issues with the DVD drive. So I had to go back a second time for that issue. At first the customer service wasn't great as they wanted to charge me for an additional issue, not claiming responsibility and very reluctant to help. But all of that changed when the manager stepped in and assessed the laptop. He was stellar! He fixed the issue right then and there and apologized for my having to make a return trip. My only suggestion is for other representatives to give the customer the benefit of the doubt and do an assessment if need be, but treat the customer well.

Misinformation and long queues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This was my very first time using Geek Squad and I specifically asked an agent using the text feature built into the Best Buy website about pricing. I had 2 items to be installed, RAM and an EXTRA SSD, not even swapping out, though I didn't mention to the agent that it wasn't a full swap for the SSD (not sure if it matters) and they told me "it will be $39.99 for each item and if its an easy task, they may only charge for one" I figured the RAM would be rather easy, but prepared to pay the $39.99 for each anyway. So, I order an Uber (it costed ~$20 for the trip) and arrived early to my appointment. I talk to the tech and they tell me that not only will I be paying $60 for EACH but it will take 24-48 hours because they are backed up and on top of that, there was supposed to be a $150 fee because I do not have a paid membership. I'm wondering why its allowed to accept more appointments if its so backed up and why are the agents telling customers false information? The agent also never asked if I had a paid membership and never mentioned that there would also be a $150 charge to do this on top of the $60 each item. I ended up installing it perfectly myself, with zero computer knowledge and help from friends remotely. Please be more upfront and maybe fix the queue times OR make the website state that the queue times are high. I rated 2 instead of 1 because I never would have realized how easy it is to just install things myself rather than pay overpriced options.

If it needs to be fixed I'll give you $100. If I just arn't doing something right, they will show you what to do. I think all the stores should treat people like they do. That's why I always go back.Don't know if all Best Buys are the same, but Downers Grove by 75th street is.

Geek Squad Mishap and Lost Business

Rude, Cold, defensive Geek Squad member told me it would be $300-$400 total. $100 for diagnostics $40 for install 1 part $100 for clone operating system. $100 for diagnostic after that. Walked into my local BestBuy on 9/27/24 around 12PM thinking I was going to get a new part installed. The security girl they had at the front was very nice and greeted me as soon as I walked in. I walked over to the desk with my laptop and new part. They had 2 people working the desk that I could see. One was just talking random nonsense with a customer which is fine. The other wasn’t visible. So I waited my turn patiently. Eventually an older gentleman came over. He sat down and roughly asked what I needed. I approached him and asked oh well I wanted to get a part installed but it looks like you guys are busy for the day. I didn’t know you had to check in online and the Q screen said it was going to be busy till 6 o’clock. He immediately kinda rolled his eyes and said well I’m here and if I have time I can help you. His attitude was like I was bothering him? So I explained that I wanted 1 part installed and he rattled off a list of things about pricing and asked if I was a member. I said no and he replied with well it’s $200 a year to buy in? He wasn’t very clear. After he was done I showed him this price online for the installation on this page just wanting clarification on the huge price jump. He got really defensive about it when I just asked the difference in price. I basically had to tell him I wasn’t trying to get hem in a gotcha moment after he said well you can take a look at our book if you want in a snarky tone. He explained the hidden fees if you want data/Operating system transferred over and if you’re not a member. He further went on to say it most likely wouldn’t work out and that they could maybe install it and it would void factory warranty. I kept my cool during this ordeal and just said No thank you, with the price jump I will have to think about it. And collected my laptop and NVME card and left. As I walked out I could hear him talking to his coworker about me which made me feel like awful. Honestly what I got out of it was rude, gruff, cold, unhappy, bitter, annoyed service. He really must have not wanted my business and he won’t anytime soon. I will be promptly deleting and stopping all BestBuy accounts and telling people to do the same. It just isn’t worth it anymore. Save your money and do it at home with an NVME M.2 cloner for a fraction of the price($50-$100) and use Youtube like I will be.

Chrome laptop

Brought to Geek Squad, and the tech. came out and figured how to erase the virus and to keep it running excellent. My hats off to excellent service and very professional people. Thanks you.

Tech saw me immediately, assessed the situation and advised me needed to replace drive. She got the drive off the shelf and installed it immediately. No problems. Very courteous.
