Sounds good but after a full charge the unit will play up to 20 minutes and go dead. Can only use it plugged in if you want to listen more then 20 minutes.

Hands down the best speaker I ever purchased. If you're looking for a speaker this is definitely worth looking into.

Best bluetooth speaker . Great base best product in comparable price..purchased a second speaker for my 1997 car.

I picked up one of these speakers earlier today during a 4-hour "flash sale" on BestBuy.com, discounted from $199 to $149. I have previously owned Harman Kardon products and felt that they were very high quality, so I sort of purchased this on a whim. But...for $150, I figured what the heck...I could always return it if I didn't like it. Let me preface this review by stating that I am a bit of an audio snob. While I wouldn't say I am a high-end audiophile, I have discerning taste in my audio and appreciate wide dynamic range, clear highs, clean & punchy lows, and most importantly...the ability for a speaker to discern DETAIL. I am also a bit of a Bluetooth speaker nut, owning what are widely considered to be two of the best portable speakers available...the UE Boom and the Bose Soundlink Mini. The Bose is great for clean audio with wide range (but is VERY directional), while the UE Boom is better for 360 audio and sheer volume. The Onyx Studio 2 is technically not in the same class (due to it's size compared to these other two BT speakers) and normal pricetag, so perhaps comparing the three speakers to one another is unfair, but I can say this...the Onyx Studio 2 absolutely MELTS the UE Boom and Bose Soundlink Mini, while priced exactly the SAME, at least for the time being. Better quality speakers have an ability to discern fine details that you otherwise wouldn't hear in a marginal speaker, and to most people, a marginal speaker will sound fine and they wouldn't even notice the difference. Turn this bad boy on and that all changes. I have not heard audio comparable to this from any speakers aside from my Sony MDR-V6 headphones, which are widely used in sound engineering applications. The noise this thing makes is absolutely astonishing. The bass alone, which is very clear and punchy, with no muddiness whatsoever, is worth the price of admission. I was able to pick out fine details in the music that the Bose cannot resolve, and is certainly beyond the limited capabilities of the UE Boom. The Onyx is an excellent speaker, far exceeding what I would have expected a portable BT speaker to be capable of. And having an excellent speaker can actually create problems...most notably is that a great speaker will bring out all of the flaws of whatever audio source you are using. Playing a lower quality/low bitrate track on a Bose Soundlink Mini or UE Boom sounds just fine. On the Onxy Studio 2 however, you will hear cracks/pops, static, hisses, etc....all sorts of nasty noises polluting your music. You can actually HEAR the flaws from the compression of poor quality tracks. This is something that only a high-end speaker can do, and unfortunately I was able to very quickly pick out which tracks on my smartphone are the worst and need replacement. I can't speak for battery life as the unit has been connected to the wall for the few hours I've owned it, but I'm reading that the battery life isn't great. I would expect that based on the build. You can actually see the sub vibrating on the back of the unit when playing music (actually pretty cool to see), and moving something that large and producing audio of this quality can't be easy on a battery. Pound for pound, dollar for dollar, the Bose Soundlink Mini and UE Boom are BADLY outclassed by the Onyx, while costing the same. Sure, the Bose and UE are a quarter of the size. And sure toting it around might be a little unwieldy, but the carry handle built into the housing is actually very comfortable, the unit is surprisingly light, but most importantly the audio quality is TOTALLY worth it. Will most likely be selling my Bose and UE now....this Onyx has officially spoiled me, and it's hard telling when I'll be able to listen to anything that performs beneath this thing's capabilities. Home run Harman Kardon...well done.

I highly recommend this Harman Karden speaker. I asked the associate where the Bose systems were, he showed me and then told me about this one. He stated that he and several of his coworkers had this model and loved it. The price was good so I did too. I am extremely happy!! Thanks for your suggestion!

The speaker is a very high quality speaker. I came in to Best Buy planning on just one of the Bose Speakers, because they are known to be quality speakers, and they were semi-reasonable priced. I saw an employee and asked his opinion on the speakers, and he showed me the speaker that I ending up buying, and he pointed out that it's +$200 off what it normally is at, and it was a really high quality speaker. I love it!

The Bass is very good. Theirs an Aux and BT available.

Best gift I could have purchased for my teenage daughter. She loves it. The sound is amazing with great bass.

I have purchased my 2nd Onyx Studio. I'm a big HK fan as the sound is premium. However last year I spent $500 on the studio....a leg broke....and more recently purchased another this time on sale. Again a broken leg except boxed with a broken leg. HK is covering but I have to be without my speaker 7-10days.....other than the legs which I thought may be better built new model....unfortunately not. Still love HK.

A friend of mine has one. The last model. I was shopping a Bluetooth speaker for my trip to California to see pennywise 3 days in a row at the Hollywood paladium. I wanted to rock out in style at my hotel room. Mission accomplished!!!!

...not the most exciting of purchases but I was happy to learn that I received discounted pricing that I was unaware of until the friendly cashier pointed out my total cost.

This thing is great! I know a few people who have them so I already knew what to expect. Highly recommended!

Picked up the speaker after the Christmas rush. Simple to connect the Bluetooth and begin listening.

First off, I was not at Best Buy to purchase this item. I was there for home automation and security devices. Upon checkout, I saw these marked lower than the faddish Beats Pills speaker units. The sound surpasses many of my existing speakers. By this, I do not mean only bluetooth variants. It is easily the best bluetooth speaker I have ever heard, but very competitive with standard consumer speakers. I have not gotten 5 hours of battery life from it yet, but it does last for at least of continuous playback. The size appears to be one foot in diameter (straight across from.side to side). The pairing, power, and volume buttons are on top and flush with the outer ring. The volume can go quite loud; it gets loud enough to hear at moderate volume 2+ rooms away. I try not to go past 75% volume (which is too loud if your paired device is maxed on output). This is a directional speaker and works best in a corner for max coverage, but it is not required. I do not notice much if any sound latency/lag from the bluetooth stream. My only issue so far is the difference in volume while plugged in versus battery. It runs crisp and loud on battery - don't get me wrong - but louder once you plug in the power cord. It reminds me of newer laptops that speed up graphics and processing speed once plugged in, but run fairly sluggish under load on pure battery. All in all, I believe this item deserves a 5 out of 5. It is definitely the best for the sale price point, and I would say the standard price if I had bought at that price.

Used it at an outside party where I needed it for distance. Worked perfectly and everyone could hear!
