I can leave it plugged up for hours and the battery lasts like 15-30 minutes max. Sometimes I listen to it plugged in for a while an unplug it to take it outside and it wasn't charging at all. I've tried numerous outlets and every possible option to charge it. It sounds great, but I'm not always near an outlet when I want to use it.

Posted .Sorry to hear of this problem you are having with the ONYX STUDIO 2. The ONYX STUDIO 2 offers up to 5 hours of playtime when charged for 5 hours. Now, it is possible that you have a defective unit that is not taking a charge, and as a result, shutting off after a few minutes. But there is another possibility as well.
Let's assume you've powered on the ONYX STUDIO while charging. Now you connect to it and start playing music, and it shuts off after approximately 10 minutes. It is very likely that this is the unit going into auto on/off standby mode. Here's how it works. The auto on/off feature is based on audio signal. If it sees and audio signal present, it turns on and starts playing music. If it does not see any audio present for 10 minutes, it shuts off and goes into standby. So, if you have the volume on the ONYX STUDIO 2 cranked up, and the volume on your portable device set really low, it is very possible that the ONYX STUDIO 2 is not seeing enough of an audio signal to know to stay on. Please try turning the volume on the ONYX STUDIO 2 down a bit, and then crank up the volume on your device to get to the level you desire. This will send a hotter signal to the STUDIO 2 and it should stay on without any issue.

Decent sound but.............

Tried to return it and get a new one, best buy denied that request since it was over 15 days. (We bought this right before we went away so there was no way to see how bad the item was before the 15 days) Now we have to go through Harman Kardon and they are not being helpful at all. The experience has left me so angry we've decided to cancel both our best buy credit cards and never shop here again.

I was quickly introduced to an expensive speaker that had a battery life of about 20 to 30 minutes max. Also dropped the Bluetooth connection continuously. A friend of mines have the same speaker and the same was happening. Thought he had a defective item but seems to happen to other reviewers. When plugged, sound was great but connection dropped like once every 2 to 3 songs. This is my own experience and has nothing to do with any company's influence.

Posted .Thank you for your feedback. The ONYX STUDIO 2 offers up to 5 hours of playtime when fully charged. However, battery life would really depend on how the speaker is used, depending on music content (i.e Rap, R&b, rock, etc...) and volume level would certainly play a major role in the play time of the speaker. If the speaker is at 80-90% volume playing audio with a lot of BASS, battery/play time would be shortened compared to the speaker playing mellow/slow music at 40-50% volume.

Both needed replaced they didn't work properly. mine would not turn on after one use. Customer survice at kardon was useless they couldn't replace it until May unacceptable .Quality control must not exist at Kardon. My sons was replaced immediately by best buy. No wonder they cost so much if every other one needs replaced. I would not recommend this product to an enemy let alone a friend.Junk don't waste your money and time!
