It’s ok
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It seems like the tuner is a little weak in this box. My TVs get much better reception than this. While the TVs are crystal clear, I’m seeing a lot of digital artifacts through this.

I couldn't get it to work for me.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was unable to get this unit to work and after reading the instructions I realized it still remains subscription and connection to a computer to record shows.

Also, you may be interested in a slightly different upcoming device: The HDHomeRun SCRIBE QUATRO or SCRIBE DUO, which comes with DVR storage (and a DVR subscription) built right in, no computer needed!

Techy folks only
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is for tech types only. This doesn't act as a TV tuner per se. You have to use this on a network with a computer and software.

Posted .You definitely don't need a computer. HDHomeRun devices are built so you can watch TV on all your devices. Plug it into your router and an antenna and install the app. Then you can watch TV on your iPad, your Xbox, your Amazon Fire TV, and even your Roku.

Just Ok
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I gave this unit to try based on other reviews, but found it not to be as user-friendly as I had hoped. It’s really not much better than a smart TV with a OTA tuner. Program storage is very clumsy and next to impossible without a subscription. I returned it and bought the Amazon FireTV Cube and Recast storage. Yes it’s an expensive option but far less than cable with a DVR.

Posted .Thanks for the review. To clarify, the official HDHomeRun app is designed exclusively for live TV viewing, unless you subscribe to DVR (2 months free right now) with its expanded program guide. This is why you would not have been able to record anything without a DVR subscription. If your goal is DVR recording, 14 months for the price or 12 is a pretty great deal right now. And for those of you who only want to watch live TV with a guide to more easily find your content, there is no easier setup in the industry than Over the Air with an HDHomeRun.

Don't waste your time if you want to record.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it to watch and record local channels. The setup was easy for the view portion but a nightmare on reading and actually recording to my NAS. Tech support was useless. Returned for a refund. If you are only going to watch tv and not record it works fine.

What it does, it does well, but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works well with their free app on my Android tablets and phone. But, I am very disappointed that it does not work with my Roku, Chromecast or Fire devices. Their forums say the DVR service can be used with a work-around, but that requires their paid service.

Posted .Thanks for the review. We are always interested in expanding to more devices and platforms, for sure. Just one point of clarification: the HDHomeRun app does work on Fire devices. Once the HDHomeRun is set up, go to my.hdhomerun.com in a browser on the network and click FireTV Amazon.

Didn't work for me
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unit did work when I originally connected it and I was able to watch it on tv and also my iPad and phone. After a couple of weeks it stopped working for the tv but still would work on the iPad. I ended up returning the unit.

Not what I expected...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used the product for about a week and sometime it work and other time it does not. It takes up a lot of bandwidth. My internet speed is over 100 mb/s and this thing still doesn't work smoothly. Videos are always choppy.

Poor reception performance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this unit to try out the new Premium TV streaming service from Silicon Dust. I already had a Plex DVR setup using a Hauppauge QuadHD internal TV tuner and it worked perfect! Great TV signal strength. I plugged this tuner into the same exact antenna and it barely received any channels. The ones it did receive cut out regularly. I also couldn’t get Plex to recognize the demo premium TV channels. (Plex issue) Nedless to say I ended up returning this unit.

Dissapointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device, advertised as a DRV, is simply a 4 channel tuner without any storage or WiFi capability. It requires connection to router via an ethernet cable, and is a storage parasite, requiring a PC or smart phone for data storage. Further, I was unable to get it to run on Windows10 after reviewing videos and documents on how to do it. It requires making system changes at a C prompt, which I haven't used since I got rid of my 286 in 1993. How arcane! This product simply isn't ready for prime time. A TiVo with 500GB storage and WiFi is only $50 more and is plug and play. A much better buy.

Posted .It is very unusual for channels to be changing on a daily basis, particularly when you have a roof mounted antenna. If you still have your HDHomeRun Quatro, please contact [email protected]. We'd love to help figure out what's causing the problem.

Easy Setup, Works Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looking to cut the cord and get rid of cable, I decided to purchase the HDHomeRun Connect Quattro and connect it to an antenna, which I've mounted in my attic. When I got the HDHomeRun home, I kind of chuckled when I read the installation instructions: plug in the cables and go to a website. What shocked me was that that's really it. The website immediately detected my HDHomeRun device and instructed me to download the appropriate installer for the computer I was using (which happened to be a Mac). The software not only installed the client app, but also updated the devices' firmware, and I was up and running in under five minutes. I didn't have to create an account or enter any codes anywhere...it just worked. That's probably the easiest hardware installation I've ever done (and as an IT guy, I've done many)! From there, I was able to start watching all of my local TV on my Mac. Another couple quick installs got me access to it on my TVs via my Amazon Fire Sticks, my phone, and my iPad. Every app found the HDHomeRun with no configuration needed. Now I can watch local TV on any of my devices, not just my TVs, and the quality is as good (if not better) as with cable. I was also surprised to see how many unique channels are available over the air that aren't on cable. The next step was to connect the HDHomeRun to my Plex server so that I can record shows and access my local TV over the Internet when I travel. Again, a couple clicks and the Plex server found the HDHomeRun, imported it's channel list, and started downloading a program guide. I remember how excited I was when we finally got cable on our street when I was a little kid--I could finally watch Nickelodeon at home. Now I'm just as excited that I'll be returning my cable boxes to the cable company in the next few days. I don't watch Nickelodeon anymore, nor do I really watch any of the other 10 million channels I get...I think I will be quite happy with my HDHomeRun (along with my various streaming services) for many years to come.

Not so great

Posted .We're sorry to hear you antenna didn't do the job, and we definitely recommend that everyone do a little research on antennas before purchase. http://www.tvfool.com/ is a great website that will tell you exactly how far away your station antennas are and how powerful your antenna may need to be. Definitely check it out!

Excellent tuner and solution
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered a Homerun Quatro from Best Buy and received it the next day. Excellent delivery time. I had been testing a dual tuner Homerun Connect. The Quatro was a drop-in replacement. Overall this is an excellent tuner. I run the DVR software on a media server with the Kodi Homerun add-on. Kodi is running on a combination of Intel NUCs, Raspberry Pi 3s and PCs. All work great with excellent quality. The video files from the DVR are either 720P or 1080P MPEG2 files @12 mbs with 5.1 audio. Any of the clients can watch live TV, manage DVR recordings and playback.

Not honest advertising
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No where in the advertising was I told that I had to have WiFi service to run this product. I wanted a stand alone DVR that did not require WiFi. This product I have thrown in the trash can because it is of no value to me when you consider the monthly WiFi cost.

Posted .While it's not in big, bold text, the side of the box does clearly indicate what is needed to make the CONNECT QUATRO work.
*Antenna suitable for reception in your area
*Coax cable (if not supplied by your antenna manufacturer)
*Internet connection (for program guide data)
*Home network router or ethernet switch
*Computer, DLNA compatible smart TV,
media player or game console
Internet connection and home network router are both pretty critical components to make everything work.
