I bought this game only hearing about it in passing, but it is filled with wonderful visuals and a powerful story. I recommend playing alone, in the dark, and with headphones to get the full experience.

Gave it a 4 star because the fighting mechanics are simple. Other than that the story is amazing and the graphics are very detailed. The game is very engaging and can be scary at times.

Hellblade Senua's sacrifice, although a shorter game (6-8 hours playtime), provides an intense journey through a very dark and brutal world. It is very evident that great care, affection, and research was put into the making of this game. Gameplay is a combination of puzzle solving with brief moments of combat. All of which is quite well done. My only complaint is the fact that Senua moves extremely slow and it takes some time slogging through a level as you try to solve the puzzle presented before you in order to proceed forward. If you are a fan of dark, psychological games or Viking lore this title is definitely worth a purchase.

I strongly recommend watching the “Accolades Trailer” on YouTube that showcases fans’ messages to the developers on how the game impacted them and their understanding of mental health.
