The inpulse 500, in my opinion, is a good starting point for a dj controller. The djuced software is pretty helpful. I'm a former home dj from the 80s and have had no need to use the sync buttons. I found that using on desktop AMD system was a little rough in the beginning, but after trial and error, I finally broke the barrier between my sound card and video card, inpulse speakers output. Now, I have saved the settings, and I never have to go through that part again. Always disconnect your controller when finished. It is a good idea to have one media library as your archive and one for recordings, I have about 8,000 tracks and counting. So is it a good beginner dj controller? Yes, even HERCULES has some video tutorials on how to, I just needed more information than the 2 - or 3 year old videos. Not that it doesn't help it is just that you will not find certain videos that you might need for help. Do I recommend this controller? Well, I've been using it every day since I purchased, and there was one update provided. So yes it will take some time, just be patient and the bpm are a little off also. Just spinning one of the platters in a slight adjust would work. Always use your counting method for beats to really feel the mix.

Really great deck and really great to learn on. The Thai color be grids help you learn what stems you are using. And if your learning how to beat match the deck is really good at helping you stay on beat.

I love this DJ controller set up. I use it all the time at parties bars and events. Easy function really easy to use, I would love to buy this brand again.

This thing is amazing and super easy to learn and use. I am pretty disappointed in the quality of the paint they use for the board. I've only been using it about a month and the paint on the switches is wearing off. For the price point, I'd expect better quality and craftsmanship.

Boight this as a birth oresent for my son for his 9th birthday to teach him how to dj and learn how to remix (mash ups. problem # 1 was that this unit does not have. power cord and runs on power supplied by your laptop. I have a Imac pro big screen laptop. your power comes from your own laptop for Her ulea 500 to run and not a fan of this option as powersurge cord is highly recomend and not provided by the maker. you need to have 2 cords and there is not a usb option on this unit. problem #2 is 8 pad keys that you will use and have to really press hard on the keys for it to use, the pads seem like there thin metal not rubber for the cue features but there is rubber pads also. problem #3 when you try to maple they ods are not that sensitive and in ither words there is no point s he hit to smple or slice and there is no sound for a second or two. you can try ober ns over with the spin wheel to manage that but again this feature works best woth rubber pads that actually do what it is suppose to. it does come with a braided cord but mo rca wires are provided for speakers. The sounds meter also 95% of the time is red , mening your volume is too high and your sound will most likely be static at that level and you really need to know how to work this unit as instructions do not come in the box to do step by step how to use and features this controller has but there is lways youtube vidoes for help ns tutorials if you have rhe time to see them nd pick wht is best for you. onky good feature i love is under this unit it features legs that also when u pull the legs down there are mini lights tht are pretty cool. hercules i believe in a few years or ages will be. contender but right now it got TKO.. THERE IS MUCH BETTER FOR YOUR PRODUCTIONS AND MIX SETS. PIONEER AND NUMARK I AM GONNA STICK WITH.

Good controller for the price point, in terms of build quality and audio output, no better options for the price. Pioneer FLX-4 is the main competitor and has more features along with working with both Serato and Rekordbox whereas the Hercules 500 only works with Serato. Apart from that the 500 is on par and arguably better in terms of size, build quality and audio output/input options. Also comes with a very good tutorial program to make it easier for new DJs to use.

I got mine last year and boy i'll tell you that the build quality is top notch! The layout is very well thought out, has innovative features, decent lighting, very pleasant to feel n look at. This the BEST in the BEGINNER/INTERMEDIATE category DJ. Especially for the price! The Djuced software is free n very similar to Serato, but unlocks all the controllers potential. Serato lite comes with the controller as well which is what most djs use. If i could give it another star i would lol

This controller is perfect for home use but also good enough to gig with. I use it for practice at home and also as a backup when I have gigs. Overall great budget controller and easy to use with Serato Dj Pro

It took awhile to understand which cables go where. Now it works and my grandson is having a ball. Worth the money. I can say its a good purchase.
