The Good *Mostly, everything, streamed in HD looked great. Netflix 4K and regular HD looked awesome. The Youtube videos streaming in 4K were excellent regardless of color settings. *TV is very responsive. I read that the apps were sluggish, but, I found it to be the opposite. The Apps played smoothly and there was hardly a delay between switching apps. Netflix worked a little faster than youtube for me. I really like how Netflix worked on this TV overall. The Bad *Cable TV and Over The Air Antenna Television looked bad, pretty bad (Regardless if the channels were HD or not). I don't know if this was the up conversion or not, but they looked bad, I turned off all the features like Noise reduction, Clear Motion and played with the color settings, nothing seemed to work for me. The colors looked faded, washed out when viewing them over the air or HDMI Cable Box. Conclusion: If you're going to use this TV mostly for streaming, I think it's a really good set. If you're going to use it for HD Cable, Satellite or over the air, I don't think it will work very good. I been reading online and this seems to be an issue with a lot 4K TVs. A lot of them don't show 1080 content very good. Most TV stations aren't going to up their game to 4K anytime soon. It's being said that a lot of them won't convert to 4K at all and will wait till the next UHD resolution which could be 8K, 10K or whatever else it might be called. I'm going to leave it up to you. Make your research and ask around about Network channels played over the air or cable/satellite. I didn't know much abut this brand, but after doing a bit of research and reading reviews I decided to purchase it as the feature value is far superior to other well known brands. I'm completely pleased with the picture quality, ease of use and overall value.

I bought this T.V. because I wanted an expense set for HDR gaming. i have been very expressed by this brand. I did find an update that you can download and update the firmware to unlock HDMI 2.0 so that it passes all the checks for Xbox One S. The color and performance is amazing. On top of that you get a 4 year warranty from the manufacturer. This tv is a must by if you don't want to break the bank for a 4K experience!!!

For the price this is a decent choice on the outside. The big issue this TV has is viewing angles. If you sit to the side at all of this TV like 10 degrees or more the picture washes out something terribly. Colors are good but skin tones are not the best even after calibration. It is advertised as having Fald and the best I can tell it has like 10 zones and the internal controls for them are lacking. You will get some judder with this TV but nothing near as bad as the lower end Samsung 4K units, this occurs much more with sattelite, OTA feeds. If you are like me and you are bothered by Motion/Judder issues then you better stay away from this TV. Also the ARC implementation has issues with Sony and LG Sound bars. I really wanted to like this TV but at the end of the day I even struggled to give it a 3 for a rating. The price is great but the poor viewing angle and other issues kills it for me. I bought both the 50" and 55" so this review applies to both. I will be returning them both as they are not to my standards.

Bought this yesterday at best buy after extensive research. After tweaking some settings a bit I put on some HDR 4k YouTube videos and ya it's pretty amazing. I realize the colors pop even more on higher end TVs but for 549 it's spectacular.

This TV has an amazing image once calibrated. I used the calibration settings posted by PSCT in his review on 7/30/2016 (search Google for Hisense 50h8c calibration best buy). The built in speakers are more than decent. At this price point it's a bargain. You won't be disappointed. The only con is that Hisense no longer offers the free extended warranty in the U.S.

I've owned this TV since Christmas. I gifted it to myself after returning a couple of items. The TV at first was frustrating because I wasn't able to find out how the 4k HDR HDMI input would work. Hint: it's on the back there's 4 hdmi cables 2 are able to transfer higher resolutions and hdr and better colors ect. I'm not too much of a TV junkie but I am picky with the visuals.My friends have OLED and very expensive TVs and I think this one beats theirs. After some sharpening adjustments, audio adjustments (it sounds kind of funky right out of the box to me with the attempt at surround sound) and finding the correct HDMI input (my fault) it has been my favorite TV I've owned. Games run great, movies and streaming are fantastic and I really honestly do think it is comparable to a lot of brand name TVs that hold twice if not more than three times the price tag. 5 stars for sure.

I purchased this TV at the clearance price of $329.99 and am very happy. I have received 2 software updates in the 1st 10 min of setting it up. The picture is very good out of the box, even better with tweaking. I have family and friends with high priced TVs and this set looks as good if not better on some instances. The TV legs however are terrible. The TV leans forward a bit and wobbles a good inch both ways if touched. I highly recommend wall mounting this unit or it is possible any sort of pressure can knock this TV over. The smart TV platform this TV has is very basic and also laggy. Alot of apps aren't available for it either. I recommend getting a roku or other device if you need alot off apps. The remote is also very basic and cheap Overall if you want great picture quality at a great price I highly recommend this unit

This is a very good TV for the money. The picture is great, the angle of view is almost 180 degrees and the 4K or 1080p pictures are very, very good. With a 4 year warranty, it is a great value. The only things I do not like is the boot time is a little slow and the menu for switching input and going to the smartTV options (netflix, etc) are a little clunky. For example, to switch input, you have to navigate to the different input options and then press OK. In every other TV I have you can hit the Input button and it cycles around the different options. This becomes a big deal when using a remote to manage a Tivo, TV, and sound bar.

Great until tv went dark on one side. Probably cheaper to buy new than replace

The picture quality of this TV is fantastic for your money. However they are advertising HDR and it is not available through HDMI. It should work right out of the box. So until the HDR is up and running as advertised I will reserve my rating to 3 stars. If this gets fixed, I will change my rating. I'm really missing this feature on 4K blurays.

Best TV in this price range, not high end but mid for sure. Expect to spend almost double for a flagship brand of similar quality. I use this for TV and movies. Picture good in Theater setting. The screen is very uniform with little variation while showing a black background. Backlit and uses a VA panel. The sharp Aquos is identical but uses an IPS. Apps are no frills, (Netflix, Amazon, and a few others; didn't see Hulu) but it gets right to it.

I did a lot of research before buying this tv and after reading reviews and going to my local best buy store to see a display model (50 inch) I settled for the 55 inch 55h8c model. after getting it home and setting it up and updating the firmware for HDR I was pleasantly surprised. this is a great tv for the price and it has all I need for xbox 1 S and ps4 as well as streaming with shield tv in 4k. It is an awesome product at a great price,if you are on the fence about it you should give it a shot and the 4 year warranty is an excellent plus!!

We bought this TV because it had a great price. After taking it home and getting it set up, it didn't disappoint. Looks and sounds great!

Very pleased with this product. Great price and great visuals. Still, wish the TV companies would have a better broadcast signal for standard programming but I guess that will come with time. Still a little curious if my set came with the latest HDR support patch for the Xbox One S and PS4 Pro. It didn't get me an option to download firmware updates so I assume that it is.

Very happy with this purchase. Needed a new, bigger tv for our living room and this was the largest we could fit over the fireplace. Wasn’t planning to watch it a ton, but now we hang out in the living room a lot more and this TV looks great for cable, Netflix or video games. Definitely would recommend for those that don’t get hung up on big brand names. This looks better than many “better” tvs I’ve had or seen at friends’ places.

Great picture, much better than my old TV. The family loves the Smart Capable that the TV provides.

Worked great out of the box. I'm impressed with this TV. It's my first time purchasing this brand, and I can't say it'll be the last. Sound quality is good, picture quality is great. Is it a Samsung KS8000? Absolutely not, but it's a good TV on a budget.
