This 55" is a little bit more expensive than the 399 model, but the picture is better.
Operating System is a little different than Android, but the software and the remote work great!

Being on a fixed budget makes it difficult when it comes to purchases requiring a large outlay of cash, so I rely a lot on online researching and reading product reviews before making any purchases. I researched the Hisense 55H8C for quite a while before I finally pulled the trigger and was as sure as I could be that I had made the right choice. Anyone looking for a 4K HDR TV on a limited budget should really look no further at this point in time. At this price point I haven't seen anything that compares with the features and specs of this set. After viewing a variety of sources I am VERY impressed. 4K and HD sources look spectacular, black levels, white balances, contrasts are all great, the intensity of colors this set achieves is still amazing to me every day. I've found the complaints about poor viewing angles (which I was worried about) to be much ado about nothing, I need to get WAY off to the side to have it get bad enough to be a real problem, of course a lot of these things come down to personal preferences and I understand some people will be more picky than I am. If you are a videophile and need the best that $$$$ can buy then don't get this set, however if you can't or simply don't want to spend thousands, and want a TV that looks and acts like a much more expensive set, then this may be the one for you. The Best Buy delivery was great and setting up the TV was brainlessly simple, with a 4 year factory warranty there is no need to spend extra $$ on an extended warranty. All factors considered I LOVE this TV and highly recommend it to anyone, including my friends and family members who are thinking of upgrading soon.

For those who haven't heard of Hisense, get on the bandwagon before the prices start to soar. A very quality tv for an unbelievable price. When up against a comparative Samsung model, one can not discern much difference in picture quality but definitely will notice the price difference. Plus they offer a longer manufacturer's warranty.

This TV has a beautiful picture and, even though I was told the sound had to be turned up, I have not found that at all, the sound is great with no extra sound bar.

The picture quality is surprisingly good. The sound from the internal speakers is better than anything I've heard under $1k. The performance of the smart interface is a little choppy, but well thought out and definitely good enough if you just want Netflix and Hulu.
Cons: The picture color changes noticeably if you're not directly in front to the set.
I chose this over the Vizio D series for a few reasons. The upscaler in the H8C is much better than the Vizio. DVD content looks pretty good on the H8C, and pretty bad on the Vizio. The Vizio lacks an OTA tuner. Sound was better on the H8C. The cabinet of the H8C looks thinner and more modern. Looking at the Vizio from the side, it looks clunky and outdated by comparison. The picture quality was a tossup.

After updating the firmware OTA I was able to get the HDR settings to work properly. The amazon app has The Grand Tour streamable in HDR and it's fantastic. While this is a 60hz tv I look past it knowing I only paid $499. It plays all the HDR games wonderfully. I've never seen such vibrant colors displayed before me.

This tv is pretty good for the price. The guy at the store told us it was 120 Htz and we didn't confirm before we loaded it up & took it home. The Htz is actually just 60, so it is a little low and I wish it was higher than 60. And the app options for this smart TV are somewhat limited. But the picture, sound and options are comparable to the other big brands for a lower price.

I was to purchase a Vizio but instead got this in place of the Vizio since it was no longer in stock. The Hisense has turned out to be an excellent TV for the price with qualities far superior to the Vizio. The screen lag is not noticeable when using it for my computer as a monitor. The smart functions are easy and solid in their use. After setting it up and watching things on it, I didn't realize how clear they could become with the upscaling feature. The blacks are truer blacks than my old Sony set and the colors more vivid. The ranges of colors seem to pop off the screen with pictures you could almost touch even without 3D effects.
When used as a monitor and for gaming, the Hisense doesn't jump or jitter too much. It keeps text and graphics clear on most all my games even in high-speed combat.
I did notice a slight smell for the first week after turning it on but that went away and all is fine. So give it a week to burn in before starting to worry.
I'll come back to Hisense again for my next TV/monitor.

I've had the tv for several weeks now, I can confirm the local dimming on this TV does not work very well - really noticeable on extremely white images uniformity across the display is hit or miss in some areas. Colors/Image quality also suffer when viewing from extreme angles, issue doesn't effect me as much in my living room but may for some other users. Where this TV excels is with the dark colors, I've watched a few UHD movies and the blacks are extremely dark, almost an ink like appearance. TV does have 4 HDMI only 2 inputs offer 4K @ 60hz, remaining 2 is limited to 4k @ 30hz. TV does come with a 4 year warranty which is a bonus at this price point, other brands I was looking at were only 1 year. For the budget conscious this TV is a steal for what you're getting, highly recommend checking it out in the store before spending more on another brand.

dont spend money on the higher priced bigger name brands, this tv blows the others out of the box for a way lower price! Save your money on this to get a 4k blu ray player, you will be amazed! And i believe they recently purchased the Sharp brand so you they have even better things in store for 2017 be sure to get the hdr firmware upgrade in your tvs menus and settings

So yes I expected at least to spend 1K for a 4k TV of 50" or more. Not only was I wrong, but the HiSense with HDR is noticeably crisper imagery with fantastic contrast. Smart functionality is super easy to use- practically connects itself to the Wifi. You want value for your dollar? IT'S HERE.

We purchased a new home and needed a TV for our media room. This set was recommended by the Best Buy sales rep. I had never heard of this brand, so I was leary. For the price, I was very surprised by the quality of this tv. It had a clear picture and it was easy to navigate between the different apps which included Netflix, Amazon, You Tube, etc.
